The Congressional Budget Office itself has estimated that we'll save between $100 and $200 billion by switching to single-payer. Other countries that have UHC spend far less than us (canada is at 1/2 U.S. per capita) and provide essentially the same care. 47 million people (Kaiser f. est) have no health care, and provide a greater drain on the sys when they go for em. care. Frankly, there is so much wrong with our system, what is with your reactionary response to change?

Edwards is not a bad choice for president, but compared to the other frontrunners of his party he falls short of being the best candidate. He does not bring the experience that Clinton does or the charisma and hope Obama does and that contributes to his overall lack of appeal to the public and his string of 3rd place finishes in the primary. I do admire the passion he puts in his speeches. He's very inspired when he speaks, but there are better options.

John Edwards is the candidate running for president who, if elected, will end the Iraq war, give us a single payer health care system for all, clean up the environment, help the homeless, and be a president we can be proud of. Who else speaks for us? That's why he doesn't have all the heavy contributions from the big corporations, etc. and has to run on public money and whatever donations he can get from regular people. Unusual to lose in your home state but there are reason why he lost in '04 and is very far down in the polls now. It's all about his ads that we fell for & then he did nothing. Waterboarding IS torture, however, I'd imagine that the interrogation tapes that were destroyed by the CIA had a hell of a lot more than waterboarding. BushCO lied to us about WMD (Joe Wilson gave them counter-intelligence which they methodically ignored)...thus, this illegal war. As far as waterboarding, it is NOT torture. If you are a parent, let's say someone kidnapped your child & knew where he or she was. I'm not saying that waterboarding is a nice thing but I believe that some common-sense needs to be injected here. Fortunately, it's a rare technique & lasts on avg 35 seconds. Second, REALLY put yourself in that situation. If one of your family members were in danger of being tortured & mutiliated, and we had hard evidence that the suspect knew where they were, AND simple interrogation failed, would you REALLY care about the water in their face in order to save your family member??

First you claim waterboarding isn't torture and describe it as "throwing a little water in someones face", but then you talk about it as being a justified torture because "if someone knew where your child was and wouldn't talk, you should be able to do all that is necessary to the person to get them to do so". Bottom line - it is torture and whatever your justification America does not condone torture.
