shit its one thing to ride a rollercoaster and feel extreme Gs but to actually perform and compete at that level while under that physical pressure is totally amazing. my hat.....is off.
The most i've ever seen in a plane is about 12G, also in the Reb Bull Air Race, must of been after this.
BTW some fighters can pull up to about 25G before they break up, its just the pilots who can't.
But fighter pilots usually pull about 7-8G for up to 30 seconds where as these do higher G's but for short amounts of time so it ends up around the same.
A really big engine in a really tiny airframe generating a lot of power. You will also notice that the pilot yaws the plane's nose upwards as he passes through, to keep the plane aloft until he can level out.
@CusterFlux They still get some lift from the body and the tail- at speed, it's enough to stay in the air indefinitely at a 90 degree angle, and the engine helps a bit as well.
@CusterFlux They still get some lift from the body and the tail- at speed, it's enough to stay in the air indefinitely at a 90 degree angle, and the engine helps a bit as well.
@CusterFlux rudder and speed whenever he turns sidways he flicks the rudder up so he can say the same altitude for a brief moment of time plus hes going so fast
@cooldudewithglasses When you pull a lot of positive G, like he was, all the blood in your head and upper body is pushed down towards your feet. So if you don't clench all the muscles in your legs and buttocks you black out. Fast jet pilots have G suits which do this for them, but I don't think these guys do.
@cooldudewithglasses the amount of g-forces is how many times you multiply the regular pull of gravity on your body. regular (what you're doing now) is +1.0 g's. since your blood flows through your body and is less dense than surrounding tissues and bones, when you pull positive g's the blood is forced down into whatever part of your body is lowest to the ground-in most cases the feet and causes a blackout* and are usually in climbs. negative g's do the opposite and are usually in dives.
A USAF fighter pilot flying an F-15 eagle lost his SA while flying over the ocean and sustained 11 g's to get his nose away from the water, over g'ing the air frame
damn. i knew these aircraft are built strong...not 9.6 Gs strong lol...i give props to him that his plane didnt break apart and that he managed to stay awake lol
This aircrafts are built with special composite alloys, ans heavy accelerations last only few seconds (less than 4 s at 9G). It is said that pilots who experience heavy G forces for many years, become "more resistent" to their effects
@thepilotboy usually aircraft are built to take an extra 50 % of the highest expected load in flight. So a modern Red Bull Air Race plane probably wouldn't fall apart below 20 G.
When he put his microphone down, it was to tell the ground crew that he had shit his pants and that he would need a new suit, just because the current one was so soiled.
It is quite crazy, like G forces i mean. I dont know about most other people, but i easily forget the amount of G force stressed upon those pilots.
Like quite a few times i've seen air shows and i forget its not as simple as controlling the air craft... Must take an un human skill to be able to cope with high g forces.. (:
i was there!!!! it was amazing!!! and it was at san diego! i didn't know this was at CA i thought it was at like florida or something! but it was really cool...i got to see the whole thing from my hotel :)
Sorry, but what makes this a record? Planes have pulled way more than 9.6g before. Panic manoeuvers by F4 pilots in Vietnam often exceeded 10g during evasion. Panic is probably unfair, but you get the idea. One Blackburn Buccaneer is reputed to have pulled 14g when an A10 crossed in front of him, the pilot woke up at 30,000 feet, that was back around 1983 when I was at the Royal Aircraft Establishment. Advertisers love superlatives, but these are just toy planes.
They can do it for a few seconds at relatively low speed. They are toys. A Su 37, Eurofighter Typhoon or F-22 Raptor can maintain high g for minutes. Long term manoeuvers are all about specific excess energy which these toys don't have much of. For slow planes they are very manoeuverable and they do things that would make a regular fighter pilot green, but they are still toys.
-10g is impossible unless it was on impact. The human body is limited to -3G and that only for a single second. I think your eyes would litterly blow out at forces like -10G

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology on aviation:
*Why do we love flying?
*Why do we relate flying with our full potentials and with our successes?
*Why do we use the phases "take off" and "fly high" as a kind of adjectives to describe our success of our hard working?
*Why do we used the word "runway" as a expression of optimistic future of a person/ a team?
*Why do we relate aviation with freedom?
