I performed this song when I was 17 for my ARCT piano performance exam in Canada. Being left handed, it was a rare treat to play and not worry of my left overpowering the right hand melody. Beautiful song and fun to play
He collapsed on stage with an apoplectic stroke in 2002. This resulted in paralysis of the right half of his body. After continuous rehabilitation for 2 and a half years, Tateno returned to his concert activities and performed recitals playing with only his left hand.
@silversailorduo That's interesting. I wonder how many performers have had strokes or heart attacks on stage? I know that Tatiana Nikolaeva suffered a stroke while playing a concert and finished her piece before walking off stage. I also know that Simon Barere hard either a fatal heart attack or a stroke while playing the Grieg piano concerto.
lol, what's wrong with playing scriabin like chopin. They were actually very similar composers in a lot of ways...Good ear though, he does play scriabin like chopin.
It's definitely a beatiful rendition. Very nice! Congratulations. My only comment (if it is not too trivial and shallow) is that those happy birthday balloons look horrible, specially with this kind of piece. I hope that after this wonderful interpretation they did not break a pinata! :)
Overall, a beautiful interpretation. There are a couple of notes played which are not in my score of the piece, but the balance of levels against the melody are well executed. Izumi let's the music breathe a bit even at this faster tempo.
Fantastic!
