Not sure where you "final performance, since I just went to their site not more than thirty minutes ago, and there are performances listed for the 2012 tour-HELLO! Whoever posted this video clip-not sure if you took momentary leave of your brain, or just don't bother to check things out BEFORE you post. MIGHT WANT TO PAY MORE ATTENTION BEFORE Yyou post. From the Riverdance website, if you'd bothered to go there, this is obviosly NOT their final performance-HELLO!!
@MSNTUC ha wow first take a chill pill. you are actually the one being dumb. this is the final performance on the vhs Riverdance. like "final performance" of THAT show. its from the 90's so obviously the person knows its not the final performance of alllll time. so maybe YOU need to pay more attention, not them...
Jean Butler, gorgeous and talented. I have to admit to drooling over every one of those yummy Colleens. Makes me feel like taking up dancing myself....
Pfffffsh I could do that if I wanted to. lol Nah when I visited Ireland I stayed with a family and their kids were apart of a dance program. I went to one of their lessons and they had alot of fun making fun of the Yank trying to learn. It was fun and one hell of a workout. You will never see a heavy Riverdancer.
Irish music and dance is like Pecan Pie. At first it tastes delicious, then migrates to just being good. After the 3rd bite, it is sickening. Standard jigs with no melody. tap, tap, tippy tap.
There has been zero evolution in Irish music and dance since Oliver Cromwell. Maybe Cromwell invented this form of entertainment to stifle population growth.
Jean Butler has, without a doubt, the best looking legs I have ever seen. I saw this show in the second week of it's initial opening in Dublin at The Pointe Theatre in 1995. I have never seen anything like it since then. The audience was so intensely involved in the entire performance that no one wanted to leave when it was over and the applause was literally thunderous. I am so thankful to have been there and seen it in person. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
Music that stirs the blood. A precision dancing troupe. A handsome man and a beautiful woman. What more could one ask of a stage performance? It's great! Thanks for posting!
This is more than Irish history. Irish and African rhythms provided the base for the rhythms and beats that dominate almost all popular forms of music in Western cultures today. We are witnessing a tribute to one half of this, a tribute that doesn't just make you listen, but allows you to see the living music as it emanates from the performers.
maybe i had too much of it when i was a kid,.now i prefer imelda mays music or anything from the great american types liek simon and garf /creedence van morrison etc etc etc,.
Titanica munca, dar frumos spectacol.Bravo voua si mult succes mai departe.Va iubesc si va urmaresc in spectacole cu mult drag.Admiratoarea voastra din Romania.Sa nu renuntati, sunteti frumosi si talentati.
I am left with my jaw dropped in awe at how so many dancers can be in perfect sync for this long. Dance is and will always be an extension of the love of music and nothing gets the toes tapping faster than the Celtic songs.
Holy cow batman, Flatley didn't look old here, he looks almost cute. But sorry Flatley I think I will join in the chorus about Jean Butler, she is awesome in this.
@suirvale Poor soul it must be horrible when one of peoples' first association with your country is a great musical tradition or LOTD. You have my deepest sympathy. I'd rather have that stereotype than "The sound of music" or suspicious questions about a certain guy who set out to destroy Europe...
No, we are all well aware of that. But it does not, or should not hurt to take pride in a magnificent performance like this one, performed by your fellow countrymen.
Whatever you like in music, stay Irish, that is the main thing!
Jean Butler is the epitome of grace. I have never seen anybody dance the way she does. I think she has gone beyond passion and is totally in Rapture. She is amazing.

I remember the first time I saw Riverdance on television, many years ago in Kalamazoo.
Whenever Michael Flatley appeared on stage, Melanie and Elizabeth would shout, "Tasty boy!"
