  • "woltage" haha I love this guy! Great teacher!

  • Thank You Professor Natarajan. You're an Excellent Instructor.

  • is this for o levels?

  • circules = circuits ;)

  • thanks this lecture i always remember

  • i dont need to attend my electro1 class because of you :) Thanks for the effort! It will help us a lot.

  • what a nice india profesor!

  • I'm a regular ass monolingual white American, and if you cant understand this dude, you have serious problems with your neural wiring. Fix your shit.

  • we did learn basic electronics in high school in costa rica, the subject is called "industrial arts" and teaches basic electronics!

  • thank u sir......

  • Thank you.

  • I underestimated is guy, he is good teacher.

  • can anyone please upload BETTER QUALITY of this lecture? Very good but hard to see the details of the bits.

  • The only problem I have with these videos is the loudness of the opening introduction and the quietness of the lectures. I listen to one and then damn near go deaf when I watch the next video!

  • Its so sad how people diss his English... it is rather easy for me to understand. He does a good job speaking. You want to know who speaks poor English? The broken English Social Workers in Southern California who tell you confusing mixed information that is very hard to understand which gets your kid put in a foster home so that social services and foster cares get more money from the government. Its a scam.

  • This is good.

  • This is bad

  • lol, sir-cutes.

  • thanks a lot for posting these

  • Comment removed

  • id rather have an advertisment then this weird start.....

  • @_@ subtitles :D...

  • @_@ subtitles :D...

  • thanks a lot for sharing this instructional video... they are really helpful for those who would like to learn electronics... may your tribe increase!

  • vry well.. i like it too much... thanks sir

  • Very good. Explains the subject very well. Thanks.

  • Why do school lectures always start with 10 minutes or more of "How This Impacts My Life," and don't say anything important? I can understand a brief history, because it can be teaching, but not "electronics are important to computers."

  • hahaha

the only thing I wanna know is what is that long in-understandable introduction.

says "ya you gha pla pla pla".

I know it's a meaning but what is it?

  • @islamona2008

The introduction comprises of a Shloka in Sanskrit, I can't tell you the verbatim meaning of the Shloka(bcs I myself dont know which Shloka it is) but I believe it's essence can be thought of as:

"Knowledge makes the mankind Brighter, Wiser and Humble, so seek more and more Knowledge"

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti (meaning peace peace peace for mankind)

    Happy Learning :)

  • free e books on Engineering

  • indian people are genius in electonic very good tutorial

  • Thanks for the great lecture!

I really can't understand those who left stupid comments on this vid, and why do some people pick on his pronunciation? What for? His english is not perfect but his lecture is crystal clear and perfectly understandable.

  • Awesome work, thanks for sharing this for free. Very informative!

  • Thanks for sharing Sir!! Highly appreciated....looking forward to next Lecture!!

  • Sir,

Ur Videos are Very Helpful for My Career Growth as well as My Subject Improvement too..

Thanks alot for Ur Time for providing us a Great Opportunity..

  • introduction to this introduction ends at 1:15 actually.

  • WHaT!!! Youtube starts playing videos from where you last left off!!!!!! I had it paused at a certain spot for the last 5 days. I took my computer off more than 5 times within that time period. So awesome!!

  • 15

  • 9.25 minutes in Jonny

  • I'm glad some people are willing to learn this so I can have my computer and video games, lol. This is not quite my cup of tea. I remember my first Computer Science class when I learned that every computing device runs on little things called "logic gates" and what people really mean by the 1's and 0's. It was pretty surreal.

  • Sir-cutes

  • Thank you Prof Natarajan. I appreciated that intro.

  • Where do I find the next lecture? The one about capacitors and resistors.

  • Can anybody give me advise. I will be getting my associate degree online for Electrical Engineering Technology any advise.

  • @TheSiddeeq

After ur degree start work for a startup...SLOG UR ASS FOR 2-3 YEARS.....Then start ur business

  • good way teach

  • @deppressed1 How many have you finished so far ? curious to know !

  • I've a channel with about 20 basic electronic circuits built (all logic gates, memory cells, shift registers etc..) might be helpful to people!!

  • very good course!!! many thanks profesor!.

  • Do not buy an expensive electronic gadget for yourself. Instead, buy an Arduino board and some components. You will learn a lot, increase your understanding, and be able to do many interesting electronics projects.

  • You can just buy the book Electronics: A Complete Course by Nigel P. Cook.. on ebay Item number: 300566059092.

  • Comment removed

  • he seems to be getting more mad as the lesson goes on lol!

  • i learn electronics.Its very interesting!

  • ohms!!

  • @deppressed1 I'd be with you, but I suspect there'd be an awful lot of overlap. There are only so many ways you can teach the basics of a 555 timer, but there are a lot more ways you can actually use one. So I suggest actually buying some bits and messing around with them. "I do - I understand.", as Prof. Natarajan says.

  • lololol best intro ever im pretty sure i crapped myself

  • :::Attention::: bot1178 from ubotstudios com approves of nptelhrd's videos. That is all.

  • After getting threw all the lectures, and trust me it took some time, I was able to use my knew knowledge and construct a time machine out of a Delorean. Figured if i was gonna do some time traveling , might as well do it with some style.

  • EXCELLENT series of lectures. I always wanted to better understand electronics and this really helped lay a good foundation. Many thanks Professor.

  • This is a good endurance test.

  • circuits = cir-cutes???? without the visual aid i cannot understand what this guy is saying....!!!

  • @misteryaelfabulous for me it's very easy to understand what he's saying. perhaps it's just a matter of taking English lessons before diving into something more advanced, like electronics.

  • @misteryaelfabulous it's not very hard to understand what he is saying. Change the way you are used to hearing a word and adept. It's alot better then saying "oh he is Indian, I can't understand". Makes him smart and you dumb. My 2 cents.

  • @oghmaeve I think you should have ended that comment with a hash tag. #My2Cents

  • @oghmaeve Bitchslapped.

  • @misteryaelfabulous Perhaps you should move on to someone else's videos then. I am a native speaker of english and I have no problem understanding what he says. I understand 99.999% of what he says which is more than I can say of my American Professors and my American University.

  • @deppressed1

If I wasn't taken, I would ask you to marry me for that comment.

  • Now I have to go price power supplies. ; \

  • IN 13.5 YEARS THERE WILL BE ANOTHER 20,000 ADDED!

    but KEEP AT IT...

learning IS A LIFE LONG PROCESS.

wHEN WE STOP LEARNING THEN WE ARE NO LONGER ALIVE.

  • love this it is timely and takes me back to High School, Wonderful for a 63 year old

  • i could only last 10mins watching this, anyone got any futher? =P.

  • @MrHurley321 I know it's fucking painful! Fuck this guy.

  • @MrHurley321 I did it! I passed the 15 minutes mark!

  • @MrHurley321

    I made it to 56:23

I think you don't like electronics that's why you couldn't last

  • @deppressed1 PART 2 REPLY: i've found so much i want to learn i find my self researching new things for the same amount of time if not more-so than the heaviest tv junkie. its nice to hear there are like minds in the world, who choose to advance the there own education for there own benefit whether used for personal gain or just wanting to know something new just to have a better understanding of the world around them. I just wanted to say good luck on ur goal set, its a great one indeed.

  • @deppressed1 i too have a similiar goal to yours. just wanted to say that if u havent already noticed it yet that if you choose the learn various topics you want to learn you will find its hard to only spend an hour at a time studying. i find it almost impossible to only spend a little time on any subject if im in my usual state of mind and if i have the time.

  • LOL he says "sir-cute" instead of "sir-kit"....cracks me up, but its all good ......

  • what is the best text on basic electronics?

  • @stramandavole Grob Basic electornics is the book I was assigned in 1st year.

  • @stramandavole Grob Basic Electronics....can't get any better than that !...i have it personally for a couple years now

  • Hi teacher!

Thanks a lot for your lessons: they are so beautiful and clear!

I send you a dear greeting from Italy!

    Le auguro una buona giornata!

It's an Italian sentence. It means: I wish you a good day!

  • I just love the accent :')

    So adorable XD

    Oh and good lectures lol

  • This is really great. How can I find all lectures in this series specifically? It would be ideal if you could rename these lectures in the series with a common prefix to make searching easier. Thank you!

  • God was very intelligent i designing this world

  • I really love the way the Indian accent sounds. Reminds me a bit of my own accent (Irish).

  • @deppressed1 just watching isn't learning unless you put it into action and understand by doing practical as well. I think you would be better off maybe watching one hour and spending time 3 hours reading, doing excercises, breadboarding, designing., programming, writing - anything but just watching....

  • @deppressed1 If u have seen for a search of all the lectures from different universities please send me the links.......I will be thankful to you if u can do this help

  • @charans92 /search/mit%20lecture/0/99/0 here is what a quick search on the the pirate bays website. i just typed in mit lecture. it's a torrent search site popular especially in europe. hope this helps, any questions just message me.

note: youtube wont allow me to type piratebays website in my reply to just do a google search to get there homepage and copy the line of web address up above after (.org) to bring up the search page. hope this helps

  • @charans92 if you havent checked out mits open course ware, it might be very useful. its a collection of free lectures they provide on various topics. i would paste the website but youtube isnt allowing me. so just type in ocw. followed by mit's homepage or google search of course. good luck on ur travels.

  • this vid is horribly composed (photography wise, its painful for a film maker to watch) it is also very redundant. I truly appreciate the fact that it is out there but for well sharing sake; straight to the point, please.

    thank u! :)

  • @Andresoioioi

In his defence...he drums it in until it stays in and he doesn't skimp over anything.

I'd trade actually learning something fundamental for watching fancy camera work and some egocentric fast talking pr wannabe skim through a lecture leaving me wondering wtf.

Call me old fashioned but it works for me.

  • I've started my blog about electronics that will explain a lot of things easily and show how to make some stuff. To the author of this video, please visit it and correct me if i made a mistake.Everyone is welcome to learn a few things.

btw the blog has just started,a lot of things is to come.

    electronics412(dot)blogspot(dot)com

  • @FREEMANkjuk Just looked at your blog. Very informative. I'm looking forward to following some of your projects. Your subscribe link on the blog didn't work for me though.

  • Comment removed

  • @hungrygit Top left corner,Follow button.Checked it and it works.

And by the way I've been quite busy lately but i will make more posts soon.

  • @deppressed1 lets doo it

  • @deppressed1 ME!

  • Good lecture, mate. Now how about some captions?

  • He doesn't even mention Tesla.

  • Great thanks for theses courses and humanity, especially who doesn't have an access to university will not forget this good do.

  • Whats 13.5 years anyway.

  • @deppressed1 im with except watching stuff i already understand in at least 2 ways ;)

  • Thank you for sharing this information. It's exactly what I'm looking for.

  • Why is the Sanskrit slokam played at the beginning of the video?

Can this please be removed in future Lectures?

  • @deppressed1

    You're static

by the time you're one year into your plan the hours to watch will be doubled tripled or whatever

How about in thirteen years?! ( maybe they will have developed the technology to make you live a thousand years so you can see it all), until you etc. Om Shanti

  • Idk if anyone else feels this way, but I agree with the video intro. It's about time that electronics be taught as a subject. I wish it was with me, because then Iwouldn't have to be taking my free time to learn this stuff. Just a thought.

  • @deppressed1 with you

  • Thnaks from this lesson, I learnt a lot and like it very much.

  • Thank you..

  • @deppressed1 me. I just want knowledge. all the scientists or mathematicians or researchers or whatever you called them spend their life for knowledge, not success, not fame, not money. they just wanted to know. and this should be the aim of us. no matter we dont have the chance to study there, we are getting the knowings and thats all, for what a true knowledge seeker goes there. we are also getting this and utilising it. thats all. WE WILL KNOW!

  • @VATkhamu That is almost exactly how I feel. It's not that I want to know, it's I HAVE to know. This has nothing to do with my career, but if I don't learn stuff I I get depressed and start to feel stupid. The difference between what you wrote and me is that a small part of me wants some fame and glory. :)

  • Well, I have electronics exams tomorrow and I tried saw the frequency responce(lecture 16-17). Thanks for the lectures professor. One thing I did note about lecture 16-17 is that it was directly picked up form Boylestad. I was expecting something better form the best institute in the nation. But thanks anyways.

  • @deppressed1 Dude I am totally with you! I tried doing the exact same thing several months ago but just didn't stick with it. Although it sounds possible, I think the main problem would be forgetting previous material unless you actually use and apply it, but it would be a pretty cool achievement nonetheless.

  • i am from pakistan..i am learning a lot by watching these videos...gr8 work..keep it up!

  • For all you guys having trouble remembering the table or are still looking of a "cheat sheet", I wrote a free program to help you out. Here is the link to the quick tutorial on how to use the program. The download link is in the description. youtube.com/watch?v=nolRA9ZmK-U

  • @deppressed1 Ok, so there's 4,951 videos.. 4 a day.. most of these are about an hour long.. so you'll be at it for at least 1235 days so about 3 and a quarter years.

  • Thank you very much for making these lectures available to anyone who is interested in this subject. It is very generous of IIT to share these videos (at least I think so). Books are great to help reinforce a subject, or as a learning aid, but actually seeing something work and having an expert explain WHY it works is invaluable. I am very excited about finding these lectures. Thanks again IIT and Prof. T.S.Natarajan! Great work!

  • Can we get these on ITUNES?!?!

  • I truly enjoy the very beginning, Om , of this Prof. Natarajan's videos. I have not seen it on the others. Very nice.

Really, deppressed1, if you can go to school. This was an old hobby for me, and time to review in my golden years of retirement. Heck, if you are young enough, hit the classes in real time and don't look back. SummerGameProject is 100% right. Me if I could really get my hands on one, and NOT for 1 or 2 grand, I would be messing with an Altair or Imsai right now.

  • I truly enjoy the very beginning, Om , of this Prof. Natarajan's videos. I have not seen it on the others. Very nice.

  • Say pardner, I took a bell and howell course in audio electronics way back in ought and 75/6 and pretty much have forgotten it. I did build a pretty cool signal generator/lab system, oscope, dmm, and 4 channel stereo receiver/amp. I was working in a nuclear power plant with xnavy ETs who had never worked with transistors. I am having a grand review/relearning time here; AND for FREE! now that is grand. Thanks ever so much NPTELHRD!

  • while i was watchin this video, i realized how much i lack focus , i was pretending i was in a gundam fighter suit saving the world from evil aliens. lol

  • @deppressed1 OR... you could just go to school, and learn the 20,000 hours worth of content in a fraction of the time... AND... get a job in the field. :)

  • I like this instructor. Looking forward to the rest of the series(if you'll pardon the pun).

  • The more engineers a country has the better.

  • stop screaming!!!

  • i like indian way of theaching

  • im back in school shit

  • nice lecture, but what's up with the ½ hour long intro?

  • This professor gave an example of modern processors having much more pins than the number on the older chips, on the order of 396-400...

    Socket 1156/1366 anyone? :]

  • You are performing an invaluable service here! Thank you so much for this opportunity!! I can't thank you enough!!

    Shawn Maginness, Florida, United States

  • @deppressed1 Congratulations if you do all that.. You willbe a world expert and hopefully be a TechnoMage. Find me then and you will have a new best friend. The world needs more people with your determination. The world will be a better place.

  • @deppressed1 Sure.. i have nothing better to do

  • @deppressed1 dont get your hopes up for mit dude lol just saying :)

  • typical of indian teaching methodology.. i was bored to death within the first 10 minutes and yearning for my bed .. yawn factory all the way!!!

  • IIT'ans are so lucky!!! I envy them!!!!

  • Thank you!

  • This video series is coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!! Thank you veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

  • Look at my chanel :)

  • budgetwise.amazingwebmall..com try it guys

  • Thank you professor for your time and knowledge.

  • @deppressed1

message me just after your done. lol

  • Im from Canada,i hope this information will help !

1st its better to separate the actual trade from personal philosophy.

there is place for theology when its relevant to the trade and a universal principle.

Also when teaching bring people into the foray while instructing them, instead of streaming a ongoing barrage of information.

Then its very important to simplify everything and not skip over things that to supposes others may know..this is a big error in the area of instruction.

  • omg ... super amazing ... I wish I had a professor like him and many others in IIT when I was studying Engineering. Greetings from Canada.

  • your doing mankind a favor, and most of us appreciate it. Thank You.

  • i know i dont go anywhere without my video diary!!

  • You ever stop & REALLY think about hair? I mean it keeps on growing on our head, but we keep cutting it & throwing the pieces in the garbage. Pieces of our body. Hair is a part of our body. It keeps growing back & we keep cutting it! This is wrong. I mean, think about it...

  • good job professor thanks from usa

  • suck my face

  • Thank you very much to the Institute, the Teachers and the Students, that made this lectures possible!

    Congratulations from Portugal!

  • Prof. realy u are doing good job, This is creating awareness in india, and soon india will be on top of the electronic industry

  • just got my frist Breadboard from radio shack store. thx for the tip it does save hours of work. :>

  • Thank you so much sir

  • I will also show my thanks, it is people like you who have no greed and pave the way for our younger generations. (but I'm sure you still get paid.) :)

  • GREAT SHUT MAN!!!

  • Thank you very much Professor, you are amazing!!!

  • I was baffled to see the slokam at the beginning of this video. I am a Hindu.. born in Madras and find this inappropriate. I am curious to know who is responsible for it's inclusion

  • @misc1990 Dude keep your em-bafflement unto yourself & make sure that your curiosity is much on to the what is being discussed. If you find certain things in-appropriate then better stay away from them.

No Hindu will find such a beautiful & enlightening Slokam / Verses in-appropriate. Are you sure that you are a Hindu & do you know what exactly the Slokam meant? In-fact I was proud & happy to see such a magnificent tutorial starting with a Slokam. Proud to be an Indian proud to be a Hindu.

  • you are both very talented and very charismatic, thank you

  • Students are should be lucky to have a lecture like you......thank you sir.....

  • Gracias por su tiempo y atencion al compartir este curso, saludos desde mexico.

  • awesome video.. a ec branch tudent should literally watch it..

  • Krysna!

  • The Lecturers like this are only qualified to continue in Guru's field. And the rest of the lecturers who doesn't know anything and never tried to know something new are kindly requested to leave their post and do some work which never effect the lives of students. Thank you sir!!!!

  • IIT is the best institute in India for Technology and its awesome to have it lectures here for free.. Thanks to indian ministry of human resource and IIT...

  • Congratulations! Collaborating with the dispersion of Knowledge! Eu, do Brasil com "S", gostei muito! Its great!!! Muito obrigado mesmo!!!

  • hey! my mom does that chant thing at the beginning as part of her meditations. cool.

  • This is the very best of the Internet - Someone with huge in-depth knowledge of a subject with enthusiasm who is giving his knowledge to others free. Thank you very much.

  • Absolutely Brilliant Attempt By Government Of India Towards Education In A Country With Nearly One Third ILLiterate People....

I Hope This Attempt Will Help The Poor Ones Who Cant Afford The Ever Increasing Cost Of Quality Education....

Hats Of To These Genius Profs...

    Thanks a Lot....

  • very helpful..thanks a lot Prof.
