Odd that supposedly they did not selling upper level seating. there was no balcony per 'se at the Capitol more of raised sitting area 2/3 rds of the way out in the house beyond the crossover.
We had acts like Metallica , Megadeth, Accept, among others play there and there was never any concern for structural failure.
@sturoc0 If your post was regarding my comment; I saw Mountain in St. Louis, MO at the Kiel Auditorium. Kiel does have an upper balconey and they probably made the right decision. Good show though.
I worked at the Capitol for many years and While the load in- load out access always sucked The better shows and our crew camaraderie more than made up for it.
I am privileged to have grown up in the biz there.
When I saw Mountain at the Capitol, ZZTop opened for them. ChrisDutch is right about The Capitol. I lived two towns away and saw many acts there. Some my aging brain can remember: The Kinks, The Doobie Bros., Phil Collins(Genesis?), Bonnie Rait and Lou Reed.
I'mk a Jersey guy and, although I never went there, the Capitol was the place to be. Anybody who was anybody played there. The place closed and it's a huge hit on the "small theatre" idea of rock show presentation.
I think this is about the time period I saw these guys in concert. Great show! We had the expensive floor seats ($5.50). They would not sell upper balcony seats as they were concerned about structural damage caused by all the foot stomping. I don't recall who the back-up band was.
