The blind contestant was Erwin Morinaga. I can tell you that he did NOT get in the hot seat. But it wouldn't be until later when Millionaire would get its first blind contestant in Jeopardy! vet Eddie Timanus.

I don't know what's crazier- that he got 1.58 seconds on the fastest finger or that he beat somebody else who got 1.78.

@AlecBoy006V2 He was prob. so quick B/C Regis read the answers aloud before they appeared on screen because there was a blind contestant on the show
