That's just an opinion based on initial apearance, which although indeed odd, means little.

There is otherwise nothing to point out Gooey. For all you know it could be 02 trying to be friendly, which I imagine someone else would've come up with.

I could never really understand why 02 started that way in the beginning. I thought maybe he is trying too fool Kirby with an appearance of good before showing his true face... er... eye.
