  • When my wife and I started dating about 8 years ago, she suggested a road trip to southern Illinois to see Shawnee and Cypress Swamps. Being the city slicker that I was, I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, thank goodness she took me along, becuase it was really beautiful, although very hot (mid-90's) and humid. Now I have an insatiable appetite to see as many national and state parks and forests as I can before I kick. Thanks for posting these great photographs.

  • @vibraharp226 Thank You! It does get hot and humid around here in the summer. Sometimes the weather is just perfect.

  • Beautiful! I went for the first time last August.

It's beautiful when the snow falls, but I would have hated to go after theres snow on the ground. It'd be dangerous to hop from rock to rock.

  • @CherryLunar Thanks! You are correct about the danger! Every year people fall at The Garden Of The Gods. Some people get hurt really bad! Don't forget to wear shoes that have a good grip and look out for wet rocks!

  • Great vid! The birds were a nice touch! This is such a wonderful and enchanting place, but so few people know about it. It's the nearest thing I've seen, in this part of the country, to the beautiful rock of southern Utah. It's truly an Illinois treasure!

  • Thanks SPELEOGUY! I've never been to Utah but I'd like to go there someday.

  • The whole state is beautiful, but if you like rock, spend your time in the southern part, below I-70. Check out places like Moab, Zion Canyon, Byrce Canyon, and Spooky, a super-narrow slot canyon in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Also check out Rainbow Natural Bridge, on Lake Powell, one of the largest sandstone arches on Earth. If you like the look of Garden of the Gods, I guarantee that you'll fall in love with southern Utah!

  • Great photos! I was there back in October (my first visit) and LOVED it! There was a lot of heavy mist when I was there, and it settled in among the rocks and trees. . .very eerie, but absolutely gorgeous.

  • Thank You TheBigBadBadger! You can get the feeling of being in the clouds up there!

  • Gorgeous photos, i live near by and never thought to visit when there is snow. You are much braver than i am ....great video..

  • Thanks jccze! You are so kind, but I must admit that I'm not particularly brave. Thanks again!

  • my favorite place to relax
