Yeah, with a single 8600gt 256mb @ stock i get 30fps MINIMUM in this game. I got a core 2 quad @ 3.825ghz and 4gb of ddr3 on a 790i motherboard. I usually have 8800gt SLI but PALiT sucks and both of my 8800gt's fried 2 days after the warranty expired...Soon to be getting an evga 9800gtx so i can step-up to whatever comes after the 280's because they are too expensive to manufacture and will soon be replaced....that or I'm going to get a 4870X2.
It's true, I have a Pentium 4 541 Prescott w/ HT 3.2 @ 4 ghz and a eVGA 8600GT SSC @ 720/1728/882 and I'm only getting roughly 40% GPU usage in 640x480, that's about half my potential framerate. The bus bandwidth size on the 8600GT is only 128 bits though, it is a limiting factor in higher resolutions, so remember to overclock that memory.
1024x768 - 1280x1024 are reasonable resolutions for the 8600GT, with 1600x1200 limiting the framerate about 30-40% especially outdoors. 8800GT = 230% better.
I have the EVGA 8800Gt SuperClocked and im playing at 1680X1050 and with everything maxed out on the highest settings with HDR and Force Anti-Aliasing and im getting between 45 to 55 FPS. Why is your frame rate so low?
My System:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 OverClocked
Nvidia EVGA 8800GT SuperClocked
4GB Performance Ram
500GB Hard Drive
Dual Displays: 22" High Definition WideScreen LCD paired with a 19" HD WideScreen LCD
man u suck at Oblivion bro- when u fight the knight and the archers- you basically get owned- learn how to fight and block properly before making another annoying video showing ur awful skills in melee combat...
Take a look on this vid: watch?v=1QQNfz224Ik. This guy is running it on 8600GT and I think it's not bad at all.. Your 8600GS would have slightly less performance, but I think, you'll be able to play it at 1280x1024 + medium details. Sorry for my english :)
TheGreath4x0r your name implies that you can speak 1337 a little bit and you dont know about comps and if ur 8600GS will play Oblivion? And yes it will, i played Oblivion when it first came out on my AMD Athlon FX-53 and an ATI X850XT which was fast as hell in its day with everything cranked to max at 1024X768 with no lag at all so i think your 8600GS should be able to play it fairly well at 1024X768 depending on your ram and processor spec.
FRAPS *and* webcam versions of games will be posted. Even the webcam will have a hit on the FPS. Everything I enjoy playing works fine for me at 1024x768 with everything maxed out so I'm happy and that is what counts. :-)
Just ordered an 8800GT at Amazon but have to wait until it is in stock. I got it specifically to play Oblivion at higher resolution than my 8600GTS.
I just started playing Oblivion and can't do a 360 view like you did at 7:25. How did you do that? I also can't steer a horse with the mouse I have to use the keypad and it isn't easy. How do you steer a horse?
What resolution are you playing at with the 8600GTS when you do a 360? The 8600s are probably the worst cards besides the 8300/8400s because it already has a high clock but only a 128-bit memory interface. I still had an ATI-All-I-Wonder 9700 Pro when I first got Oblivion, roughly 14FPS @ 800x600 but at least a 256-bit memory interface. What FPS are you getting?
I have been playing only a couple of days. I have a 4:3 19 inch monitor that is 1280x1024. I tried both 1280x1024 and 1024x768.
Along with my new card I ordered an HP W2207 22" widescreen flat panel LCD Monitor.
But my question has to do with how you rotated the view so that you could see your face. Moving the mouse moves my character so I always see his back.
Been playing at 1280x1024 for the last day with high settings to see the eye candy. It is definitely jerky, but in some areas where there is no grass and trees it plays surprisingly smooth(er).
My current LCD monitor is 4.5 years old and has a 25ms refresh rate which ghosts. When I decided to upgrade my monitor I knew I had to get the 8800GT card also because the higher rez monitor would make my old card suck even more. One thing leads to another...
Thanks for the info about "change view" but it has to do with first person vs 3rd person.
I don't have a "center mouse button" but a wheel. Clicking the wheel doesn't do anything. Tried Goggling before raising this question but did not get any answers. No biggie.
well if you mouse buttone center wheel isnt a button to i dont know what to tell you but on mine i click the center mouse button and it switches view hold it down it will let you look around
solution is simple..at Movies tab you must set fps to 25..or 24.5 for longer videos..and for strucking sound quality you have too mute your microphone option
Your going to be losing a few fps by recording the vid with fraps, better of just using your cam and just having fraps show the fps in game to get an accurate fps rate.
I love you

the physics and the scale of the world and all of the stats that it has to create in real time makes it take a more beefy pc.

I know nothing about computers. Would this run well at all (don't care if it's on low or high settings) on an 8600GS?
TheGreatH4x0r 3 years ago
yeah, it should run nicely

Really? Someone else said it wouldn't run at all.

Without recording the video AS WELL as playing the game i'm sure that it would gain 5 to 10 FPS easy. Life sucks.
