This is good, but his 1994 performance with Vaduva was truly amazing. He was much younger back then, which suits this role, and he had his voice. Look for it. You won't regret.

Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed an ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to the bel canto opera.

So maybe Placido Domingo is as irritating a conductor as he is a tenor. Still, the Alagna-Netrebko death scene is almost as good as the Love Duet you so kindly uploaded. They show their broken hearts in their voices beautifully without sacrificing vocal quality.
thugman30 , schizophrenics usually have difficulty understanding other people, so that should be O.K. for you, you do not seem to understand anything, seek treatment
if you have any sense of music and your hearing is not impaired you should hear that she is not a throat singer (like Vilazon was). Anna sings very deeply from her chest and from the back of her lungs. And I repeat, her fabulous, sophisticated, round, velvety, golden voice with an effortless and easy top note HAS DOUBLED in the last few years. You and you pal eradesso have been predicting that Anna would loose or that she is close to loosing it. YOU ARE DEAD WRONG. Sorry to disappoint you.
Just saw this yesterday. IMO Roberto Alagna is a better actor than Netrebko in this production. Netrebko isn't innocent and gentle enough. Alagna grips me. But BOTH made me weep in the death scene. Bravo!
That's interesting because the entire 2007-2008 season is on DVD for purshase EXCEPT for THIS production.....maybe there is a problem with it's rights or distribution.
Thanks too , but there is another very deep moving version : it is the one with Alagna and Vaduva ( at the Royal Opera House ) , to my opinion , it is more touching ( specially the Final Scene ) , it was some years ago , and together they seem to be "the best team or duo"..Just for one second they were the TWO Roméo and Juliet ,just a dream........But that new version is very good too !!! Bravo Anna and Roberto !
LOL I just spent all morning trying to cut this nicely from the DVD so I could post it. I should have checked first! Yours is much better quality. Thanks for posting!
I love this version!

Wow, those closing bars sound almost Wagnerian. I feel like I'm hearing the closing bars of Gotterdammerung there.

What fabuous voice? You can barely understand what she's singing. All the words and notes are muffled like she is munching on a golf ball.

Her voice is losing every year. You hear the high notes especially the endings out of balance without vibrati and shouted.
