This was a live in 30 years ago. Back then audience were not allowed to stand-up in Japan. Things have changed a lot since then :-)

Madonna's 'Into the Groove' sounds similar to this great composition by Yellow Magic Orchestra. Just note after 1:15. I won't be surprised if she (or the person who composed it for her) was directly influenced by the rhythm on this track.

For all you drum machine enthusiasts out there, this song is one of the first uses of the Roland TR-808, which came out the same year. You can hear the claves and hand claps. As these guys are from Japan (as is Roland), it's possible that the 808 wasn't even available in the United States (where it has become entrenched in popular music) at the time of this performance. I can't find it in the video, though. This is before MIDI came out (1983).
