bearing that in mind, it's up to every man as to what they do with that faith. just merely doing good won't get you to heaven either. you can't work for salvation. it's all in a person's motives. your good works won't save you as in ghandi's case. salvation only comes through faith. good works in a christian's life are the result of their faith, not a prerequisite to obtain salvation. doing right should be because you believe in righteousness, not just because it's wrong to not do it

i heard he "leans toward satanism" and "hates religion". I take it this means he is a fan of the LaVey Satanist philosophy somewhat. LaVey Satanists are basically just atheists who use the "devil" as a metaphor for lust, greed (self-interest is what motivates humanity), anger and basic "sins" that satanism says is just being human and nothing to be ashamed of, if used with wisdom. The devil is a fictional "mascot" who represents humanity to LaVey satanists. We all have "good" and "evil".
