  • bootty shorts

  • Fuckin' cheater...

  • @TheBigBeavis Fucking loser

  • @91gt306 Go inject some steroids cheater.

  • check out the quick starter in lane 7 lol

  • @SalesBlaze hahah good eye!

  • @SalesBlaze :D:D!

  • the reason why most people are always wondering about the usa and if they take drugs is because they are always proving us right, when justin catlin won the olimpique 100m in 2004 my mom was happy for him and my mom is a jamaican and i turn to her and said dont get too happy because i bet you something is gonna happen with him about taking drugs and look what happen he was busted for drugs, i always try to give the usa the benefit of the doubt but they always prove me right.

  • World record is 37.04 by Jamaica.

  • I like USA but the shorts just makes me wanna change the video

  • t americans got there drugs just right that day!

  • LEWIS DID DRUGS!

  • @rbtommmyboy and Christie

  • CHEATERS!! AMERICANS ALL STEROIDS.

  • Carl Lewis, Kinda looks like Cam Newton

  • man...in the 80's guys wore super short-shorts ohmygosh.

  • Watching this gives me chills!! i love it!

  • @shardyshaw I know what you mean. Maybe it's my age but athletics then (when i was a kid) seemed so much better than today.

  • @richardjw87 I completely agree. I guess with each generation things change.

  • @richardjw87

They were better. Victory was an honor. Achieved by honorable effort and good old fashioned hard work. That particular run was absolutely flawless. The handoffs ....seamless. A thing of beauty. Nice to see it again.

  • JAMAICA A THE BEST THING EVER HAPPEN TO TRACKS

  • My uncle dennis Mitchell ran the third leg

  • too bad Hayes couldn't run on these modern rubberized "trampoline" surface tracks. 47 yrs ago he ran between 8.6-8.9 on his anchor leg on a loose DIRT track,,just CRAZY !!

that 100m final of 10.05 was in a chewed up lane 1(it had to actually be raked-RAKED) to even it out. Bolt on that track would run the same 10,05. Hayes was a MONSTER !!!

  • i think Carl Lewis is Gay !!!

  • carls 8.85 split would be a joke for bob hayes on this track in barcelona ..pfffft

  • This was the era I loved track and Field. I was obsessed with it back then as a kid, If someone told me I would lose interest in it latter I would have said they were mad. Cant stand the hip hop and dull sprinters we have now. Zero presence and that goes for mr Bolt no matter how many times he tries to look cool

  • yes that would be a great race if Usain Bolt vs Carl Lewis on the 100 meter event i think that the result would be very interesting

  • They may have been on steroids or drugs to achieve this but who knows

  • That means that every one of those runners did under 9.5 seconds for every 100meters so that means that they are faster than usain bolts 9.58 second world record huh!

  • @weatherworld123 its different cause when you do the 100m you use start off blocks ...

but handing it off is faster cause your already sprinting and till he hands it off your already going you full speed

in the 100 yu start off from 0 and then go to 100%

  • yes...they did it!

  • What the hell was Austria doing in that final? I'm amazed beyond words...

  • You know what would be a GREAT race ?

Usain Bolt vs Carl Lewis in the 100m dash !

  • @TheMrBeastyMode Bolt v Lewis v Bob Hayes...don't forget the legend.

  • Carl Lewis is the best ever!!!

  • 1:11 best hand off i have EVER SEEN!!!

  • How was carl lewis now...any news of him?

  • NAW ALL NATURAL CARL LEWIS WAZ MY PERSONAL TRAINER NO DRUGZ

  • was this the 1988 olympics?

  • yo thats unreal!! ANDDD their all wearing high top sneaks! LOL

  • Lewis the greatest even if he was on drug

  • Dennis Mitchell is my uncle

  • I met Carl Lewis.

  • i like this just to see that cubans mustache

  • This comment will sound racist to some people but all if them are black no bad side to this comment tho

  • This was for me the golden era for US sprinters!!! what sprinters the had!y

  • Yeah, and if America was only whites they'd be crap.

  • @abhirocks9 Apparently you have never heard of Jeremy Wariner. Go ahead and look him up.

  • the jamaicans shitted on this record and they did it without drugs, billion dollar endorsments or the support of a super power! put that in your spliff and smoke it carl!

  • @slimithy12 lol

  • I can never believe Lewis did drugs. No bulk, built like a cat. No bloodshot eyes and macho posturing typical of steroid use. Just a smooth natural athlete.

  • @swervetolead he did more drugs then ozzy did in is prime trust me. epo and many other drugs dont create bulk. infact many drugs only create bulk when you have a high protien intake and weight train with it. lewis obviously only did muscle tone training. look at floyd landis, does he look like a brick shit house? NO! lewis is the biggest drug cheat in the history of the sport, what's worst is he got away with it too. *poof*

  • @swervetolead Sorry to hurt your feelings but Carl was busted for steroids twice but he made way too much money for the sport so Nike covered it up, this is documented. Also you don't have to be bulky as a result of steroids. Steroids heals the muscle quicker than if you weren't on it, hence a faster recovery time for the regeneration of the muscles & the reason why people on steroids are months or even yrs ahead of people not on it. Fact is 95% of world class track sprinters are on the "Juice."

  • @BreuckelensFinest we dont know if bolt's dirty or not but just imagine if he was. do u think they would cover it up?i mean just look how much money he's bringin to this sport...if they test him positive that probably would "ruin" the whole track and field

  • @puljacina Ur rt we don't know if Bolt is on it &we never will bc like u said, "look how much money he's bringin to this sport." I had a convo today about Steroids &baseball, how McGuire &Sosa put baseball back on the map w the Homerun race a few yrs back &how politians &the media ran w it once they were accused of steroids. My point? all of them r part of the same Hipocrisy. Sam &Mark took it for $, the media published it to sell papers$ &the politians talked shit to enhance their careers$.

  • @puljacina We will never know...too much money Usain has brought to the sport. It doesn't matter, no one really cares. People just want to see records broken and watch others do what they can't do. Honestly I never cared that any athlete took it bc I just wanted to see the Homeruns, Touch Downs, etc. I've learned they got to eat too and they do what they have to to survive. Not saying I condone r would take it myself, I just don't care. Usain isn't going to pay my bills. LOL, anyway enjoy.

  • @swervetolead so everyone who takes steroids is huge and bulky, dont be silly. there are steroids that minimise bulk that are gd for sprinters such as winstrol and turinabol, and lewis could have been on a low dose of it aswell.....he might be genetically designed to react to steroids less than other athletes. did justin gatlin look roided?nO ... did montgomery? yes, so we have people here who are running extremely fast improved times (similar margins) with 1 looking roided and the other not

  • @swervetolead I disagree. There are different drugs that have different effects on different people. Marion Jones didn't look like she was on drugs.

  • @swervetolead who took drugs. Look at the cyclists who fail doping tests or the distance runners.

  • @Pooledogg : Get it right ... distance runners are Marathoners and Ultra Guys. No Ultra guy has ever been caught doping.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRunningPoet 100m, 200m, 400m are sprints. 800m and 1500m are middle distance. Anything 5000m and above is long distance. You get it right.

  • @Pooledogg Only in the Olympics will you find doping. Run on the ultra scene putz and you will see nothing. The Olympics have rigged people in there that turn to scapegoats. 5000m long distance> We don't get warmed up until 15 miles...

  • @TheRunningPoet You are talking about a select few people. You can talk about 55miles being a warm up for Eddie Izzard. I don't know about the Ultra scene as it is not very popular.

  • @swervetolead but he did

  • @swervetolead Being different than the norm must mean innocence, right? He also had bad skin and didn't he have braces when he was fairly old? He also did fail a test before the 88 Olympics for stimulants but got away with the cold medication excuse. Carl is still one of the greatest T&F athletes of all time and definitely the greatest long jumper, but that's poor reasoning for your belief in his innocence.

  • Mr. Lewis.....one of the best Athletes of all time!

  • Drug fuelled, absolutely no doubt about it..

  • Back in those days when Carl got that baton from whoever ran 3rd leg it was a wrap

  • maan maan you know what you can do?.. you can delete this video from youtube cause it`s history

  • @Zedenexx then what would you be able to watch?

  • @jthaney1980 what do you think dum dum ... you watch us jamaicans .. you watch our team make history repeated times LOL

  • 37 40 XD LOOOOL

  • lol carl lewis is nothing compared 2 bolt

  • @MachikiRox C'mon now, Carl Lewis is a 9 time Olympic Gold Medalist spanning 3 Olympics, member of numerous world record relay teams, set individual world records, AND competed in 4 different vents. Bolt is great, but what makes Carl special is he remained at the top over such a long career. I hope the same for Bolt.

  • @ranhill Bolt is just the faster runner now no doubt about it ,but is a moron ,please !!

  • fucking mitchell the cheater

  • crazy curve by mitchell

  • Love this era in the US, Good sportsmen and awsome ahtletes. Not like the cocky guys now days...

  • Does that commentator love Carl Lewis or what!? LOL

  • are they wearing normal running shoess??

  • the Cuban leadoff runner looks like the old spice commercial guy LOL

  • Even though the times that the sprinters are running today are faster, what is it that makes this olympic games along with track and field in that era, so glorious to watch back then?

  • Track is the only sport where the so many idiots disrespect the history of the sport. No one talks shit about Wilt Chamberlain, saying shaq is better, but here idiots act like since modern runners have beaten this, that this group is suddenly shit

  • @PowerSprinter yes they do. wilt chamberlain is spoken about as one of the more overrated players in the history of the nba

  • @fnyman14 Actually that is false. If you look up Wilt Chamberlain more extensively you will find out that he was a total freak. he was 7"1', could bench press well over 375lbs, was a total stud on the track team, he scored like a motherafucker also

  • @PowerSprinter lol someones opinion cannot be false, especially if it is not even regarded as fact in the first place. i was just making a point. and yes, he is thought of as overrated. when you take 37 shots a game on the fast pace of the game in the 50's/60's, you had better be putting up amazing numbers.

  • @fnyman14 Well obviously when i say that it was "false" it was in my opinion. thus it being false is not definaitive as it is understood that what i say is not fact but merely opinion

and anyway, he shot a good percentage, nobody could guard him other than bill russel. He shot alot because thats what it takes to dominate, there is no point to stay in the backround when you re that much better

but honestly, who give a fuck? this is besides the my original point completely

  • @PowerSprinter true, your point does still stand. bob hayes would dust 75% of sprinters today given mondo surfaces and new training techniques. carl lewis would without a doubt be the most dominant LJ in the world, for years actually. the LJ scene today is extremely inconsistent

  • @fnyman14 Yeah. I think that Bolt being so incredible creates a weird way of thinking that has people thinking legends like bob hayes and jesse owens are no good. Carl lewis is recent enough to wear his marks are still among the best, he is one of the few that not only was he great for his era, but even now take his top 5 jumps and they will beat anyone's.

i saw this cuban long jumper that fouled on a jump that would have been the world record somewhat recently.

  • @PowerSprinter maybe your comments would be more credible if you learnt how to spell?

  • @rcaddict72 When you are critical of someone's spelling, you should probally make sure you yourself know how to use the english language properly. "Learnt"? I think you are looking for the word learned. nice try though, maybe next time you should focus on content rather than grammar as grammar obviously isnt your forte

  • Comment removed

  • @rcaddict72 Not in the US. i looked it up and it is used in British dialogue so we are both right in a way. either way, you are a C-U-N-T for pointing out spelling errors on youtube comments. there is a reason there is no spellcheck on here. because no one gives a fuck except for trolls with no lives like you

  • @PowerSprinter ...wrong again moron. now you are showing your real colours. look it up bozo. try several links lame-ass. YT is full of self confessed experts like yourself who cant even write. i got the impression you were one of them. that doesnt make me what you claim i am, but rather someone who is sick of tools like that. i retracted my comment but since you've now gone all feral it seems that if the shoe fits, then you too are one of them. fwiw i lecture in english at university.

  • @rcaddict72 All i can say, is thank God im not going to your university. at least i hope im not. And since you are an expert with words, you should change phrase "i got the impression" to "I assumed".

and why did you even start this, I dont get why you randomly attacked me by pointing out spelling errors. Maybe you should actual state why you disagree with me instead of nit picking little things. Maybe you just need to stay in your little box of thinking about grammar

  • @PowerSprinter run along little man. - you mean "actually" dont you?..lol..thats ok, im big enough to let you off...you are really grasping at straws...and showing some psychological flaws for all to see. coupled with your video and profile i am seeing an insecure kid who needs attention and reacts violently to the point of real anger when challenged..another trait of someone with a form or narcissism or associated disorder.

  • @PowerSprinter oh i got it now. you are an 18 year old kid...rofl. my god i should know better. i dont usually check profiles but since i checked yours i feel foolish. i thought i was dealing with the usual dumb-ass on YT but instead i am dealing with an ignorant, inexperienced, below average intelligence teenager. that explains it all now.

  • @rcaddict72 And btw, by below average intelligence teenager, you mean kid with a 700 in math and 650 in english on the SAT. making me technically a genius according to SAT to IQ conversions. You are showing that you make assumptions about people younger than you

you have got to be the worst speaker for a university. I pity those who have to listen to an arrogant elder.

  • @PowerSprinter im really inside your head arent i?. SAT to IQ conversions are absolutely useless. do a proper mensa supervised iq test and get back to me. . anyone who works hard enough can score well on SATs. like i said, i comment on YT morons, not nit picking typos and obvious grammatical shortcuts..as you now are doing. do you have some sort of ego issue?- did mommy not hug you enough?

  • @rcaddict72 haha, you obviously dont know much about SAT scores. I didnt take one practice test or course on it, just woke up and did it.

the thought that you are a grown man writing these beyond childish "insults" is humerous. using all of the cliche insults used by 2nd graders at the playground.

Another assumption made by you, first you assume 18 year olds are inferior to you intellectually, now you think weight lifters are aggressive, insecure and narcisitic. tisk tisk. try motivated

  • unified team?

  • @Ammovir 'unified team?' I think the unified team is the former Soviet Union just after they broke up. The countries hadn't yet established their own teams.

  • @phastman: In my VHS tapes from Sydney I recall b4 the mens 4 x 100, when records are listed going into the race, that there were two different groups from the US from different years listed as sharing the WR...will have to see if the IAAF website has record progression lists.

  • Which meet did this relay race occur? Anyone know?

  • @Parker528 1992 Olympics in Barcelona

  • @phastman1994 Thank you. Was this when they TIED that time as a world record, or did a later group of 4 tie the record later on? Just curious. Remember that time being a tie for quite a while, but don't know of the order of the times that record was run at this time. I think I remember the announcer annoucing the finish as a new record, not as a tie. No maybe I answered my question.

  • @Parker528 I don't think so the WR before this was 37.5, it stood until Jamaica broke it at Beijing with 37.1.

  • @phastman1994 But I am certain THIS performance was later tied by another US team, b/c in my tapes of the 2000 Olympics, it is listed that by then there were two groups of teams who both recorded that same time; in other words, the 37.40 was listed as the current WR going into Sydney, and was displayed on my screen twice, with two different years; I'll have to research the IAAF for listings of past records to verify this.

  • @Parker528 This world record was equal one year later at the world by the States again in the semis. The difference of the two teams is both Lewis and Marsh was replace by Andre Cason and Jon Drummond. Drummond ran led, Cason ran 2nd, Mitchell ran his usual 3rd leg and Burrell ran anchor. From what I remember Lewis was in a car accident and injured his back so he wasn't 100% in the 93 season. Also Lewis was 32 at the time and the States was looking for that new star to replace him

  • and dont forget burrel slowed down in the semi-final run and it was raining on that day and they still ran 37.40!! incredible

  • @phastman99 That's right about Hayes in '64; slowest estimate of those watching and hand timing at Tokyo was at 8.94, and many thought he WAS as low even as 8.4.

  • Carl has a 6th gear

  • Carl Lewis was an amazing athlete, not just a great sprinter but great at the 200m also, and no one even close in the long jump. He was rare. Not a great national anthem singer though. lol

  • Mitchell DESTROYS that turn!! As great as Carl's anchor is, Mitchell was a BEAST on the turn.

  • @MrCancertropic I can't stop watching Dennis Mitchell's curve! That was an awesome leg!

  • Dennis Mitchel: greatest curve runner ever. But unfortunately, a cheat.

  • lol the asian guy has such a slow reaction time in the start. u could tell he was way slower than the others

  • Carl lewis was an asshole. He was the alternate on this relay team in 92. James Jett from West Virginia who was only 19 y/o ran anchor and got them to the finals. Carl lewis cried and was able to push him off the relay team for the finals. It was bullshit.

  • @Kingbodybuild KIng Carl is Legend!!!

  • shut up you lil no life faggot

  • lol yo cal lewis ran less then 9 seconds that last leg lmao wow

  • @nikothadon100

he got a running start and ran less than 100 meters

  • LOL

  • The Jamaicans set a new world record in 400x100m last 2008 Beijing Olympic.

  • That last leg by Lewis was unreal. That actual split was 8.78.

  • an 8.8 second split for carl lewis. that is one of the fastest anyone has ever done in a relay

  • Asafa Powell did 8.7.

  • @thekingoffutbol so did Usain at the Penn relays

  • @andergra000 Bolt ran 8.79 at the Penn relays

  • @phastman1994 Are you really going to correct me on nine-hundredths of a second?

  • @andergra000 lol do you know how much .09 is in 100m though? alot..

  • @phastman1994 Yeah. But my point is I knew that he ran an 8.79 and not an 8.7 I just didn't care enough to type all of that. And I didn't realize some smart ass would correct me on a measly youtube comment for it.

  • @andergra000 Well the main reason I corrected u is cause Powell ran the fastest official split in history at Beijing with 8.7s so it makes a difference.

  • @phastman1994 What's also amazing, as far as anchor legs in the 4 x 100 go, Bob Hayes was anchor for US in Tokyo in '64 and took off in 5th place, like 3 meters behind the leaders, and then corked out what was the fastest estimated spilt for a long time, Slowest estimate for his anchor was 8.94. That wouldn't be too shabby these days. Incredible.

  • @Parker528 Ya, I wonder what it would have been officially. Bob Hayes was defiantly one of the greats!

  • Comment removed

  • @phastman1994 Unfortunately, we can only wonder. You might think that with modern electronics and technology, that a professional watching a great video of this relay could get a relatively accurate estimate of this anchor leg. Oh well.

  • @Parker528 Ya I agree!

  • @thekingoffutbol i got 8.4 on the 37.10 run

  • @thekingoffutbol well you have the running start

  • Comment removed

  • @thekingoffutbol nevermind i misunderstood your comment

  • @wonka479

    K

  • dude you have no idea what you're talking about none of these guys were even mentioned when it came to drugs! sure the only lone drug user was christie from GB and sure carl lewis was kind of a jerk but you can't say he wasn't one of the best athletes in track history! so don't be so brash and do some research before you try and bag on some hardworking world class athletets next time.

  • The jamaicans in 2008 wiped their ass with this relay team

  • Funny how the athletes involved have so much more class than their idiot fans.

  • @Kevinessequamvideri So true!

  • have you heard about jamaca

  • This is best passing of the baton I've ever seen. There's only one problem with it. Lewis shouldn't have switch hands.

  • Lewis would of won the 100m if he had been in the final blew everyone away here. Poetry in motion

  • I agree with you. But you must check out Donovan Bailey. That is so smooth and beautiful

  • Lewis was in sub 10 form right here!

  • didn't mike powell beat carl lewis in the long jump in '91?

  • The funny from now to back than with the States; Carl Lewis led teams always had good hand exchanges. Now, everytime they run a relay, especially in a major championship, they always are dropping the batons and DQ. Everytime in a major championship under Lewis, the US always broke the existing world record, beside Seoul 88.

  • am kenyan and i feel you my broda. dont worry Nigeria won coz originally all these guys were probably from Nigeria before they were taken away as slaves. Kudos coz as africans we always win! even Bolt is ours.

  • @kingmoraro true statement!

  • this is how you're supposed to pass the baton

  • Big ups to Nigeria

  • JAMAICA SMASHED USA's RECORD LAST YEAR

  • do u know when they did this record?
