Here's a Tip from me! When fighting a Thug, (try to use a baseball bat) hit him on the head, he will be temporarily knocked out (by that I mean he'll lean over) then try to hit him there continually and eventually he'll die.

The Thug is probably the only zombie that actually scares me in this game. A close second is the Suicider, but only because he "talks" and says "Help me...." in a very creepy way.

for the thug the way you do it kinda gets you hit a bit, try doing this. walk up to him and when you see him about to swing his arm move back a bit and then run to him and break or cut his arms off, keep repeating until all he can do is headbutt you, it's alot easier from there

A better way to fight the thug is to wait then hit him in his leg (knee). After hitting him he will immediatly roar so if done correctly you can land about 5 to 6 solid hits before he starts swinging again. Wait about 5 seconds and then repeat.

I use to hate to run into a ram,thug until I fig it out . This is what I do go in the jungle and get some grenades if you have completed that mission there only one guy there now? pick-up the 3 grenades and GO TO LAST CHECK POINT go back and get another 3 grenades and repeat many time may 20 times and you will now have about 60 grenades it take about 30m but now when you find a ram or a thug throw 2 grenades and his is dead try it and it works very good.

amazing method to kill a thug is to just smash his arms with a good blunt weapon while dodging. if you do this successfully, than you will have a chance or crippling his arms so that he can't use them. once done, and both arms are broken, you than pretty much do whatever you want to kill. you could even punch him but he still has a mouth to attack you so be warned

For the thug, if your weapons are about to break or your about to die, you can throw you inventory at him piece by piece and pick it back up and your weapons stay the same health and (if you know how to move) so will you.

If you hit the thugs with a sledge hammer instead of the machete, it'll take out a larger chunk of their health, but you have to hit them when they start roaring, 'cause the thing is slow.

@Chewbacca211190 yeah i had a little trouble with that, each time i thought i was out of range, i wasnt, just bad judgement on position was all, guess i should have redone the thug to show a better example, but thats kinda what you have to deal with, thugs arent always easy, and if your going against one alone while 3 others are in the game, its very hard without special weapons.

I've got a yellow machete, modded it twice, now i hyave one old smokey and one toxic. when a thug comes, i throw both of them at him. while he roars, i pick 'em up from his body. back up and throw them again, almost every thug eventually pukes his guts out or gets electrocuted. so i get him killed in a minute with no health loss and no loss of durability to my weapons

most of the times, both his arms get cut out, then he's just as difficult as a walker

As far as I heard - never tried, I am at the beginning and have only met one thug so far. There is an option to go for the Thugs legs. Sever one - or break it with bludgeoning weapons and it falls over, all that it can do is crawl at you. This cannot be an option with a Butcher or an Infected as they are too quick I guess. Definitely I would not try this on a Ram :D

I've only ever played logan but throwing cleavers or any of the large knives you can get a nice arm chop on the thugs. XD I got horrible timing with sidestep and back step so throwing is my only option

Suiciders: Run at them full speed, jump in the air and kick them to the ground without stopping.

Thugs: Use a powerful 2-handed weapon and go for the head. A fire axe will decapitate them with ease and they can't reach even while you're hitting them.

Juggernaut: FURY MODE. Or just jump to the side and hack away. Status affects are very good against these guys.

Infected: Aim for the head and wait until right before they attack you. Head goes rolling.

Suisider: walk up to them they start shaking then jump backwards twice so easy. Thugs: kicking is bad cause 50/50 chance it does nothing and they hit u i just saty out of range a little bit like he said but i attack right after cause theres like a 4 second window so u can get 1 or 2 hits in then jump back it works for me and if u do it right u can kill them without taking damage peice of cake

@tommychan47 i havn't seen any heads come off the floater guys, almost to the butches so not too sure about them. might require research lol rams end up seeing the bright lights of my deo bombs but all the times me and my buddy killed them with a blade no heads came off, and i have seen the thugs heads come off but its really really really rare to see that and its usually the finishing blow on him. even with my charector using the blades, xeon or whatever her name is lol

oh yeah.. you can also aim at the Thugs arm and throw a sharp weapon at his arms... if the weapon is powerful enough you can even take out his arms with one hit this way... he becomes quite docile when he doesnt have his long reach ;)

get a sharp weapon that has long reach like axe and you can swing at thug any time.. he cant reach u if your standing on optimal range. Oh and kick has longer range than their swing too, except when they do that three his compo straight ahead ;)

Easiest way to kill Thugs is molotov though.. they are too slow to move away from the buring area and normally die from one molotov lol.

Rams are pretty easy to handle solo but when they have friends with them, you gotta keep eye on the Ram at all times.

@MrKnobDoor True, but disabling the arms and keeping behind them is an effective tactic since they are so slow, and the flailing isn't an issue. The only other attack that I'm aware of is that they try to bite, but since they don't have mouths at the back of their heads, behind is as safe a place as any :)

The only time you come across The Ram is the Town and The Prison right ? I've seen images of The Ram on the Resort map. Where you first start out. Do you have to be a certain level for them to appear on the Resort ?

@xXObnoxiouZXx Unfortunately I am uncertain if they show up on the resort at all, I have not seen that feature. Now the only other time I have seen them is in the City and the prison, it is still unclear about max level play though, so things could change at max level which is I believe is level 50.

@LuccosWorld I have actually come upon a RAM on the resort island ... in the hotel part when I tried going back to get more champeign ... after unlocking them from the first part of Act 2 ... so yeah.

Hope it wasn't a bug, but I have actually seen em in Act 1.

@TvojaStara1 as far as I understand, you cannot block attacks, however dodging can be just as easy, It can take a little bit to get used to, but as my video's suggest and how I played was a hit and run tactic where moving in and striking the target, then jumping or moving away, and repeating the hit and run tactic. I have been unable to block any attacks. hope this helps :-)

another good way to deal with thugs are to runn in i use any weapon (and if your using the analog way of fighting alrdy have your weapon at the ready) and just hit and like a split second before the weapon hits jump backwards its really effective it may take a few times to figure it out but it works reallly well ive killed many thugs with out being touched

@temm78 thats an excellent way to go as well, it does take a big more to cut off the limbs sometimes, it really depends on the weapon, cleavers work extremely well.

@RukongaiZX There are weapons, but the ammo load out is extremely low, and unless you can hit the crit spot(headshot) every time its difficult to have enough ammo to do a whole lot. that being said you can make ammo for most guns, pistols and shotguns as far as i know are the only ones. there are rifles as well. the game was designed to be a melee based first person game. which is a whole new aspect. so yes there are guns, but melee weapons reign supreme in this game.

i like using something like a police baton or baseball bat that doesnt do much damage at all to break the limbs on the thugs, then when they are basically immobile i run behind them and use my "short circut devastating military machete" to special att them, my machete does something like 1250 damage

You got almost killed by that thug , Its good to use 2-handed weapons against thug because you can reach with it father then thug can reach with his arms. If you lack big weapons, just go close to attack and press back+jump to get out before he punch you ... (ofc get his arms is good choice and if you play logan, its easy just trow and pick any sharp weapon at his arms then get him down when he doesn't have arms anymore)

@endOfEvolution Great input! I agree, blunt weapons can be another way to engage the Thugs, running solo I found it much easier to engage them, but when you have 4 people it can be a lot more difficult to engage the target. thanks!

@MicroCarrotGaming I have completed the Campaign using Logan, the throwing expert, that was quite fun and you get health regeneration way down in the survival tree that i never got too. I also have tried Sam B the blunt weapons expert, does alot more damage but you have to always be in close. as these are the only 2 ive tried out, i recommend either of these 2 characters, other character try-outs are in the works but its only been 6 days since I recieved the game.

When fighting multiple thugs use a car to smash them or fire propane tanks work wonders but if you don't have a molatov it's pretty hard to take 3 thugs if you have rage pop that if not throw strafe kick and grab you're weapons back that you throw in to him and don't corner up also I don't know if it work's on them try a jumping and kicking the thug in the face

You have to kick thugs from behind or throw boxes and knives at him crushing wepons seems to work better on them them because its easier for me just to break the arms Willy nilly if you're lv 15 they're pretty easy you just bum rush kick and go straight for the head a high damage wepon work's wonders on thugs

I just usually throw my weapons on the special infected.... especially on the Ram(the guy with the straight jacked) and the thug. It is a lot easier to do then try and hit them head on.
