  • *Several horses were killed during the making of this film* ;]

  • I don't see no bridge.

  • all I can think of is....POOOOR HORSES!!! T.T I don't give a shit about the ppl dying, but the horses...why did they have to be damn dicks by running into them with the horses....now they have to get brand new horses all over again cuz the perfectly fine horses they had before are dead now. fken foolss

  • who the fuck disliked this? damn peta idiots. its a movie

  • Chuck Norris consumed the English with balls of fire from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse

  • poor horsey :(

  • Sticks and stones may break my bones, but sticks will also troll your heavy cavalry charge.

  • I never knew why so called mother said I was Portugese when I was in elementry school.

    She knew? Hahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • sons of Scotland were pretty pissed that s why they won this battle

  • Tywin Lannister would be ashamed at such pathetic use of heavy cavalry...

  • napierdalać skurwysynów!!!! Beat the motherfuckers!!! Poland and Scotland!!!!!

  • DAT QUALITY!

  • back in those days, the fear you get from a British cavalry charge is like tanks coming at you, nothing but respect for those men who fought against it

  • @techracer2003 The only way this could be less historically accurate is if the Scots had lost. There was no English charge at Sterling Bridge, note the English charge, not the British. This film is stupid, the writers seem to have made it up as they go along. Most importantly, this is the Battle of Sterling Bridge, where's the fucking bridge?

  • @Elthadreil It's Stirling, not Sterling.

  • @medhat4B Ah, thanks for pointing that out.

  • NO HORSES WHERE HARMED DURING THE MAKING OF THIS FILM.......BAAABHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAHA

  • Man you need balls to hold a line against a cavalry charge

  • @fuckyouvevo123 Or a bridge.

  • Horses were probably harmed in the making of this film.

  • THERE WAS NO BRIDGE THERE WAS NO ANDREW MURRAY SO THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE REAL BATTLE !

  • i once fought with William Wallace and then i took an arrow in the knee at Stirling Bridge :(

  • William Wallace would have fought with a Claymore. I don't know why they didn't put that in, because a Highland noble of his stature would often have a sword over four feet long. That would have been sweet to see.

  • @MrJahka They did. 2 handed Claymore's are in this film.

  • This is how a war should be fought. Not today were civilians are slaughered with cowards dropping bombs and snipers shooting their enemies at 300m distance.

  • @Nefus1988 i agree but if you were fighting would you rather be 300 m away or right in your enemies face. it hurts to get hit by a sword!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Nefus1988 war shouldnt be happnin full stop

  • oh dog !

  • who played the british commander ?

  • @dcdoyle Back in this time period there was no such thing as Britain; it was England vs Scotland. Nowadays Britain is composed of England, Scotland and Wales so saying who is the British commander in reference to Braveheart makes no sense.

  • 12 Scotsman and a bagpipe = a rebellion

  • 2:23 that parts awesome

  • Thumbs up if Fenton brought you here :)

  • FENTON! FENTON! OH JESUS CHRIST! FENTON!

  • Pikemen beats horsemen. Every time.

  • You do realize that when it actually came to the part where the horses made contact with their pikes that they substituted fake horses on hydraulic pistons, right? Using real horses for that sort of thing went out with Cecil B. DeMille.

  • @Redmistify Its all made up hundreds of years later, Scottish independence is a bad idea but thanks for the compliment about the scots

  • @WyldePhoxProductions and they are not going to go nuts over all the dead soldiers probably :-)

  • Ouch that's all I can say, happy I wasn't about in them chaotic days freakin civil wars and that cr*p

  • Who needs a bridge...

  • poor stallions and mustangs ;(

  • @solanut ...poor englishman that got axed in the brain

  • i was in stirling last week, it was my first trip to scotland, it was soooooo beautiful! the scottish people are so friendly, so kind and felt soo welcome in scotland! i love your country, yes Country! free scotland! william wallace was awesome by the way!

  • just put one m240 on the scots' side and it's done

  • @bnruse no cause the English would just get some jets and drop napalms on the Scottish lines

  • cool but , the actual battle had a bridge in it because its called the battle of Stirling -BRIDGE-

  • @AtlanticShark99

Haha indeed, the only reason the Scots won was because of the bridge :P

  • Scotland !!!!!!!!!!!

Show them how to fight !

    Glorious battle !

  • @scottishwizard1

Pretty sure the English knew how to fight actually.

  • @theolliepotter of course they did if i was the one who made this film i would have put more battle scenes in that the english won

  • Those poor horses : (

  • full attack? more like 2 rows of horsemen.

  • Funny thing at LoTR's last battle 6000 or so rohirim vs 10s of thousens or orks and mordor urukhai is pathetic, no chance in hell that human could win. Is more like a tipical small medieval army vs a fantasy hell. Now if you would trow a few roman legions at them (about 5000 men each), they would rape the orks and Sauron all the way to the end of the world.

  • @Azrael88demon

Or a red thin line of British Highlander musketeurs. An orc massagre :D

  • @Azrael88demon The Humans only had to hold off for about 10 minutes before all the orcs were killed by the destruction of the ring...

  • HOLDDDD!!!!!! amazing....

  • Strange that they never featured the bridge, which was a major factor in the battle. From what I remember reading the English got stuck with half their army on one side and were then attacked by the Scots.

  • The horses never stood a chance :(

  • Massacred

  • Let me explain: I'm going to FIGHT! AND SO WILL U! DODGE THE LANCE! AND STAB, U MOTHERFUCKER!

    NOW, WE FIGHT!!!

WE SLICE, CARVE, AND DIVE OVER THE ENEMY!!!

    SLICE 'EM UP, PUSSIE!!!

  • yep! NOW FIGHT!

  • SKYRIM

  • @LeM1dzie WOOH!: :D

  • This film goes wayyyy over board of what really happened still a amazing film thou.

  • @MultiTech360,

So do I! Horses are such beautiful creatures. It makes me sick!

  • Even a trained warhorse won't charge into a wall of spears. That's why pikemen were so effective against cavalry.

Another thing - cavalry were seldom used in frontal attacks - they would wait until the infantry had been engaged - then cavalry would come upon the flank of the enemy and force them to break formation.

Before all of this, each side would exchange arrow barrages. That is the way old wars were fought.

Men died more from injuries and diseases than anything.

  • @NicholasGeschke i think it MIGHT be posible to force the horse to keep going, but this to me shows what happens if youDO. against a solid pike wall. that said if these cavalry hd been in proper 2 line formation, the scots wold be torn apart by the second wave.

  • @NicholasGeschke You have to keep in mind that battles were often fought one way, but not always. There have been a few battles with full frontal cavalry charge, but a smart general would usually avoid it. But yeah the horses would refuse to charge that wall.

Anyway, I think they are holding the lances wrong, the horses should have some kind of armour too.

Oh well, still not as bad as Lord of the Rings.

  • @ivanlagrossemoule True. However, in the novels, Prof. Tolkien closely mirrored the Free People's formations after the English tactics during the 100 Years' War. Particularly the battle of Agincourt, where a numerically inferior army of English troops decisively defeated the French.

Anyways, this clearly demonstrates that Hollywood tends to fluff up the tactics a bit. Probably for dramatic purposes. Make it more "heroic".

  • If you look at 1:48 they have already picked up the spears. Then the next scene shows them picking them up.

  • @UncoolNegated

They are not spears, they are Axes

  • I just had an argument with a scottish person on xbox live.

I told him that the english have been raping scotlands women.

    He was pissed. XD

  • i feel bad for the horse not the riders though

  • it's a good thing my sister never watched this movie. she'd have cried for the horse at 2:00. and the horse at 2:01, and the other one at 2:02. she'd have cried from 2:00 till the end.

  • Lool the british commander is like "humm... this is gonna be easy... just send the cavalry......................OH SH*T, Those scots are killing all my cavalry, send the infantry quick!!!!!" :D

  • HOOOOOLLLLD!

  • WHERE THE HELL IS THE BRIDGE?????

  • Lord of the rings, Gladiator, Troy, 300, Kingdom of heaven, Braveheart are the best swordfighting and ancient movies of our time

  • @xzxCHIPxzx Agree

  • Send the horse, full attack LOL 0:06

  • i hate the inglish.

  • @YBEyabass

    Fuck you.

  • @mwillis1000 sook my soft wee bellend.

  • @YBEyabass

WTF?? Is that ENGLISH or a spaz language?

  • @mwillis1000 eat ma plooms ya wee rat.

  • @YBEyabass

Again, is that ENGLISH or another language??

  • @mwillis1000 It's Scottish.

  • @YBEyabass English*

  • Cavalries are so stupid that they just charged into pike wall head on, right...

  • @2:23

Ouch -- he's going to need to make sure that doesn't get infected.

  • lolwut...are the english knights wearing lamellar armour ? I'm pretty sure the english had semi plate and mail armour. And didnt knights wear great helms ?

  • My family has made these battles LEGENDARY over the course of the past 200 years.

  • THE BRIDGE?

  • @sumadinac92 Bridges are overrated. Like unicorns and love.

  • @GreenEyedSerb Unicorns deserve all the overration they deserve.

  • Where's the bridge?

  • its a shame it didnt happen like this in real life. if it was like this in real life, in an open field the scots; as brave as they were; would have got slaughtered. just because of the sheer amount the english had and the superiority of the army. in real life they ambushed the english on a bridge

  • @NorthWeezy2010 Whats funny is a suggestion to charge the Scottish army with cavalry in a different place that was more acceptable for horse maneuvering was rejected.

  • You kick the dog too many times... The dog bites back... HARD!

  • that was gorier than I was expecting...

  • @Thedarkcountry tnx :- ))

  • 0:13 you can see that some are holding their lances too high xD

  • od 2:00 to początek kaliber 44-zakon marii

  • Chuck Norris could have taken all of them with a roundhouse kick to the face

  • Contrary to the pro-scottish nationalism c.1300s, they were not fighting for freedom but for a succession claim. So Scottish and English 'groups' fought to be oppressed by varying different groups of feudal, largely Norman, nobles and royalty.

But then again when has Mel Gibson movies been influential on peoples thinking...oh wait it has sadly

  • This was just weak light cavalry, with only 2 ranks of depth. These mounts could never break those lines even witouth the pikes... Stupid tactic? Where they so arrogant?

  • @TeunisD No. The battle at Stirling was nothing like this, It's amusing to watch, but Mel Gibson's over inflated ego had him commit more historical errors than is even usual for a Hollywood production, and the film shows no understanding what so ever regarding the Scots-English wars of the 14th century.

To start with, the Bruces and the Platagnets were both Norman houses, William Wallace was minor nobility and not a commoner, and I think they forgot the bridge at the Battle at Stirling Bridge.

  • 2:00 - Zakon Marii

  • Fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse!

  • Yeah....kill those fucking horses one bit me once

  • I was born in England, now in Canada, but I love Scotland to death!! William Wallace is the best!

  • FUCK ENGLAND!!!!!!!

  • @NickTheGreek4umyMILF really? suck my dick

  • @NorthWeezy2010 first you must steal one...

  • OWNED.

  • england bitches.

  • poor horses

  • top 5 best cavalry charges in movies ever!

  • fucking scottish dumbasses harming those horses, they didnt do anything

  • @josepasillas530 that was normal of every culture during this time period...

  • This wasn't a battle. This is the medi eval version of Jackass

  • Downloading Medieval 2 Total war as we speak. :3

  • i have no clothes on

  • THe movie is pretty good, but still there is no logic chargin your heavy cav directly at the enemy, even if they are the heaviest beasts you have.

Usually, you use the flanks or even better, the rear. And then slaughter them.

  • Why should the horses suffer :((

  • amazing movie - whether English or Scottish

  • Legolas could have taken all of them...

  • @rcman123 YEAHHHHHH

  • @rcman123 Chuck Norris could of taken Legolas, then all of them afterward.

  • edward 1 raped scotland like his woman the sad bastard, then made the claim for the throne into some sort of duck duck goose game. no wonder this happened.

  • @mrmastermind29 If you're a history buff your enjoyment plummets.

  • it's the battle of stirling bridge but i see no bridge?

  • everyones just jealous mel gibson and a few hundred extras got to be in a huge battle and they didn't.

  • I was alive back then, as I fought in this war. Let me be the first to say that Mel Gibson was horrible playing this part.

  • Were horses really harmed in this movie??

  • lol a great hollywood film but as much historical accuracy as claiming Hitler was actually the leader of the British Labour Party

  • @merobots Not really. Just about as much accuracy as saying Hitler was an actual military genius and wore lederhosen.

  • @goldenbulletwolf666 inglorious basterds was not meant to be a historical movie

  • @kuldeepgads

But I don't think Braveheart was either, was it?

  • @goldenbulletwolf666 I think braveheart was meant to be, wasn't it a biopic of william wallace?

  • wheres the bridge?

  • Hold ! Hold ! ... Hold ! ... RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN !

  • yes some of this movie is historically inacurate, like them painting there faces blue and wearing kilts, but the sticks that they used hear are exactly what they used.

and us scottish are very proud of our history :)

  • @bethanz07 yes they did use the sticks when in the Schiltron Formation, but there was no cavalry charge like this at the battle of Sterling Bridge.

  • I agree that this movie is very historically inaccurate, but imagine how much it did for the Scottish tourist industry, and how many Americans suddenly claimed Scottish ancestry.

  • @scotlandsarmy it obviously worked on you. *scotlandsarmy* hmmm...

  • @TheDemonstrater Right, because the fact that my mum immigrated from Scotland in '71 and that I lived in Glasgow for 5+ years had nothing to do with it, amirite?

  • @scotlandsarmy prove it BITCH

  • @TheDemonstrater Let me level with you kiddo, I honestly couldn't give a rats ass on whether or not you believe me.

  • @scotlandsarmy thats the answer id expect from someone with no proof!

  • @TheDemonstrater I don't need to prove myself to a random kid on the internet, and quite frankly, you can't prove me wrong.

  • this is very inaccurate what happend at the battle of sterling bridge is the Earl of suarry - english - was a idiot ( no offense ) after half of the english men crossed "stirling bridge" the Earl has called them back as he had a late breakfast a scottish noble man who was on the english side fighting against wallace had suggested that they could use a ford to cross the caverly up stream but the Earl declined after 1 third crossed the scots attacked as the ground was marshy so caverlry had failed

  • @iainaspden if your intressed in scottish history :P msg me on my page :D

  • why there is no bridge?. : )

  • PROUD TO BE SCOTTISH !!!!

  • 2:21

  • theres no bridge. looks more like the battle of falkirk but then again that would be in-accurate

  • Cya, im gonna install Medieval 2 Total war.

  • @madsequil

I installed it 3 years ago, never uninstalled it.

    Empire: Excellent graphics, shitty gameplay

Medieval II: Great graphics, EPIC gameplay

  • @madsequil

    i already did :D

  • The lances looked longers than the spears....hmmm :S

"Send the infantry! YOU lead them!" - Always loved that line/part!

    Thanks.

  • poor horses.

  • @coutydog shut up pussy.

  • ...73 Easting..

  • OK so maybe the English thought the Scots were so inferior they could pull an Iraqi 93 Easting on them, but the theory remains the same. The English commander deserved his head on a stick for this foolishness.

  • An incredibly inept use of such a force of armored cavalry... strong as they can be, you just don't charge a mobile armored group directly into the teeth of prepared defenses. That as applies as much to modern day as it did then. You occupy the enemy frontally with infantry etc. and then use armored/cavalry to hit them on the flanks or rear (first breaking through a weak point or going the long way around if necessary). A battle is usually over at that point.

  • @Imperator88vis thanks for the input General.

  • @TheDemonstrater You misspelled demonstrator.

  • @Imperator88vis OH NO I DID???? OH SHIT THANKS FOR TELLING ME!!!!. -_- dumbass....... "demonstrator" was already taken....

  • that twat of a wannabeamerican religious nut-case turns my stomach...

  • FOR NARNIA!

  • God this movie so historically inaccurate .

  • @Dimensionaluk Granted but it is very entertaining

  • @Dimensionaluk What movie isnt... hehe XD
