  • Very cool...Thanks

  • Marvellous

  • Listening to you, also seeing 'O'. All possibilities, potential, our creativity and innocence. Very beautiful, thankyou!

  • this is lovely. thankyou. it gave me some moments of stillness and peace.

  • What a beautiful, beautiful man.

  • Very poignant. Seeing my old temple where I stayed '72-74. I only heard a couple of his talks in 1971. He was dying of cancer at the time but as a new student I didn't know it. Thanks to my ZCSF dharma brothers and sisters who posted this.

  • this is a world of repeaters...that's why we are here now

  • Very rare video.

  • Thank You so much for this post. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find audio lectures (prob. not the right word) of Suzuki. (online preferably) Please let me know if you do. Thanks

  • I dont know of any in his voice other than these but Zen Mind......... is availiable as an audio book.

  • yeah i keep seeing that (but it's not his voice neway right?) Thanks for the response

  • Thank you so much for this video. Suzuki Roshi is my favourite teacher. Just watching his beaming face calms me in a moment.

  • he is my favourite roshi . also adyashanti's face reminds me of suzuki roshi.

  • Thank you thank you

  • can anybody can recommend me one way to practicee zen ? please i'm living in Guatemala and here's nothing about zen

  • You can start by sitting in a chair for ten minutes in a quiet room. Count your breaths from one to ten. Don't tell anyone what you're doing. Pay attention to everything you do. Forgive yourself and everyone else. Don't read books on zen for awhile. Forget about enlightenment.

  • become aware of your awareness, thats the simplest way to put it and practice

    become aware

    become aware

    become aware

and let go of anything that prevents you from being aware (including thoughts about progress, desires to achieve a certain state, feelings/emotions, and bodily sensations

just let go and keep letting go; always

  • I agree with melcal63: that's a good start! It's important to make your time count, whether it's 5 minutes or an hour. Always try just to be aware of the now. If you lose concentration, just gently bring it back - no big deal. :)

  • Nothing to do.

  • Just concetrate on your breathing and keep your back straight. Suzuki Roshi said:

The air comes in and goes out like someone passing through a swinging door. If you think, "I breathe," the "I" is extra. There is no you to say "I." What we call "I" is just a swinging door which moves when we inhale and when we exhale. It just moves; that is all. When your mind is pure and calm enough to follow this movement, there is nothing: no "I," no world, no mind nor body; just a swinging door.

  • @LinktothepastZ

    Good instruction

  • I am grateful too.

  • Enjoying reading his talks on the SanDoKai. A year prior to Suzuki Roshi's changing the place of expounding the Dharma, my teacher, Maezumi Taizan Roshi, had the resident students of ZCLA come up to his room to meet Suzuki Roshi. He did not make any sounds, other than with his eyes.

    Gassho,

    Tengan Donryu

  • Thank you for posting this footage. I have been reading about Suzuki and have admired his teaching. This is wonderful to hear him speak and to hear the teachings he gives.

    Brilliant!

  • Thank you for this film.

Old disciple of Soen Nakagawa Roshi.

    Greetings from Japan.

  • oh my he was so handsome

  • I can count on one hand the number of men I have come across in my seven decades whom I would have loved to have sat at the feet of. Suzuki roshi is one of them.

  • gassho

  • Thank you very much! I enjoyed it.

  • Thank you for sharing

  • Deep gassho.

  • Thank you for sharing a glimpse of the Master with us. Gassho!

  • I see the ripples in the pool and they are you.

    Thankyou.
