  • Most honest approach I have heard yet. Clean, precise, and well thought out.

  • is that an rg550??? lol i use the same guitar in my paganini video haha

  • mono.

  • its nice

  • most in tune clean electric guitar on youtube (or distortion for that matter). that's 99.99999 percent of the battle - this guy wins.

  • good good good

  • Becker plays it at what seems like somewhere between 130 and 160. I'm not gonna take the time to look it up.

However, the Crossroads Duel version is about 120 up until the bridging bit where it speeds to 146-ish.

  • @TheFullArtist i covered part of becker's version... it's 145 bpm (check the vid out on my channel if you want, but I just do the main theme

  • Another example that there is a generation of young people who are productive, passionate and extremely talented. Gives the world hope.

  • keep at it man, it's getting there faster than mine is, lol

  • I'm studying the same exercise, that's the way to make it right, first you go slow and then speed up, Good job, keep it up! I'm good @ 80, trying to reach 120 with no mistakes.

  • @ronaldmoracastillo yeah. whats the average note value?? like one note per beat four notes per beat ect..

  • @ramsay717 didn't quite get your question, note per value?

  • @ronaldmoracastillo sorry . it wasn't worded very well aye. how many notes for every metronome beat. and do you know what metronome setting/speed jason becker used when he did his??

  • @ramsay717 i'm playing 4 notes per metronome click and the metronome was set to somewhere around the 100-110bpm mark. Not sure exactly what the tempo was when Becker played, i just know it was a lot lot faster :)

    Suerte.

  • man. its fuckin hard. how the hell jason becker could play this 2 or 3 times faster ???

  • props mate and damn clean

  • Tabs are for whores, use ears or sheet, gives you a much better feeling when you are playing

  • yah im trying to make the switch

  • really well done dude. Sure its not up to speed- but its played well. At least you didnt go fast and hide behind a mountain of distortion like a lot of people do. Playing it on a clean setting takes balls. good job

  • if youre gonna speed up a video, make it ridiculously fast... this definitely isnt sped up.

  • omg ibanez headstock. i fuken hate it.

other than that god job, man.

  • nice, is there a tab for this?

  • tabs can be found at ultimate-guitarDOTcom

  • excellent work

  • awesome dude, keep shreddin \ m /

  • damn metronome sound

  • Yeah...Practise with a metronome... But turn the damn thing off when you're recording!!!

  • @donjuandre Agree, the metronome's louder than the guitar!

  • people take notes from this use a damn metronome

very well done man keep it up

  • well done mate, very good

  • brilliant bro !!!! ....

  • BRAVO! Nice to hear someone play this without the overloaded distortion that is usually played...good job.

  • this song in my opinion should not be played faster then this and this is my fav version of it am no the proces of learnin it :)

  • Paganini's 5th metronome Caprice

  • :)))))))))))))))))

  • the metronome sounds great!!!

  • Awsome dude!

  • is that a RG-550

  • It's a Prestige RG2550e-gk :)

  • hehe kickass

  • hey, its music i think..so why you play it without any dynamics? Try to make some phrases, culmination. it can be very interesting & useful experience

  • hey man that was really great..

  • jason becker fast107893456018746305871634065120439786021485

  • the metronome makes its harder to hear.

  • amazing

  • Well played, I don't know what they were talking about in the comments before me, but course you use a metronome, its standard practice when u are recording...

  • Excellent

  • so cool

  • to play pag. well on any instrument takes a little doing. listen to a really gifted violinist do this same piece (alex markov comes to mind). to my ears, the violin conveys a sense of 'lilt', for lack of a better word. yngvie seems to convey that particular quality, as least IMHO. yngvie's more massive tone seems to carry melodies with more...elegance...let me stress again that this is simply my opinion.

  • Your going to be sick as fuck in 10 year... and im not say that your are not because your still really good

  • great! i love to see people practicing the right way and with a solid foundation.

  • bravo! a metronome is your best friend =)

  • not to mention playing in clean channel

  • My best friend is a girl called lisa. She has a nice g string, good right hand technique, a good bottom end, plays the pink oboe but is not very good at keeping time!! I like to get into the groove with her. We make such sweet music together.

Well played, keep it up dude.

  • lmao

  • tres bien

  • escucho mas fuerte el metronomo! bien

  • playing with a metronome, you're on the right track for sure.

  • LOL..do you play guitar?

  • metronome!

  • haha :-) there're no bad questions, right?

  • i like it

  • This reminds me of the movie " crossroads ". Compared to that u did a good job.

  • who the fuck cares?!

  • you're a dumbass

  • i thought that was awesome at least you didn't mess up at a slow speed

  • Monsieurbome 1 nice vid but thats where I stand.

  • good job, sounds really good

nice tone, keep up the good work

  • nice one

  • nice tone, got a cool twang. good steady playing.

  • Chortle.... it's a laugh a minute in here sometimes. The fucking halfwits that start sounding off.... LMAO!

  • Yeah the same goes to you mr. "loobs" you a FAG too..To RELY on a metronome equally makes you a "halfwit"..

  • Hej hej! Great job!!

  • Props man. Clean is the true way to play it ;p. Keep it clean and your technique will be better than all the other jokers playing this peice.

  • I like what I'm hearing but lose that clicking noise. You shouldn't need it for real

  • lmao! its called a metronome. clinking noise hah. it keeps one in beat, and it shows that he is playing in proper speed.

  • Get used to that clicking noise... it's the sound of my sweaty prison boots following you and it's the pounding of my rapist cock up yer arse. Yuk Yuk Yuk

  • You talking indirectly or something you sideways talking faggot? Because if you are heres a boot stomping your skull in and another ripping you a new "arse" hole with the steel toe.

  • FUCKING FAGOT!!!!!

  • LMAO! I know what it is SO WHAT?

"Shows he playing in proper speed"

HAAAAAAAAAAAAA..LMAO..Like somebody needs a click to know if it's in proper speed..YOU KIDDING ME? HILARIOUS

  • later on it becomes second nature, but for some people they need it to keep their timing in tact. Read a little bit, and learn before you think about responding to this and making yourself look like more of a retard.

  • Man STFU..Read what? The reasons why some folks NEED a metronome to play some music?

  • clearly you don't know any music theory, the metronome is to keep time, and a huge part of music is... TIME!

It does the same thing as a person tapping their foot to keep the beat going, or as a drummer does to keep a band playing in time

  • Dude SHUT UP..I OWN A METRONOME and I don't use it..Havent touched it in years.

  • It came as a package with my equipment I find it annoying.

  • if your so good, where are your video's then?

  • Look you guys in this emotional bed wetting cult really need to chill..GO BACK AND READ MY FIRST COMMENT. I actually said I like the vid, but I think it's ridiculous to perform with a metronome. Bob ya head tap your feet do whatever you gotta do. People Want to tell me what a metronome is and I'm letting em' know I GOT ONE.

  • dont blow a fuse dude, im not kickin off at you, i personally dont think the metronome made the video any worse at all, its rare you hear people play without a backing track to help them keep time i dont see why a metronome is any different really other than it doesnt quite sound as cool as a backing track/ accompanying drums

  • My point is I don't consider the metronome an instrument therefore it shouldn't be used in performances or recordings unless it's part of the work, otherwise I think it DOES take away from the music.

  • actually i believe your point was anyone who needs a metronome to keep time sucks or at least that was the implication.

orchestra's use a conductor, most bands use a drummer, just because you dont like this particular time keeping device doesnt make anyone who uses one crap. anyway ive said my piece, you wont hear anymore from me about it.

awesome video btw, i tried this myself, makes for an awesome picking excercise :)

  • Ummm. No I didn't. I said no one should NEED it..Whatever I'm so done with this thing.

  • rofl this kid is my favorite retard, you're so cute with your little idiot ways. :)

people like you seriously kill the evolution process.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh you talking to me? Just had to open this up again and run your fucking mouth huh? Kill the evolution process? You know what? You a sack of shit! You tell me who's higher on that scale? The one who still needs a metronome to keep a beat or the one who doesn't? Remember that while you evolving then go somewhere and fuck off while you scavenging everything I say like a little hoe. I MEANT EVERYTHING I SAID BITCH AND I TAKE NOTHING BACK..WHAT!!?

  • Do you know that a lot of professional musicians, especially drummers do play with a metronome? search on youtube for any tight band and you will see the drummer with headphones, with a clicktrack (metronome) in his ear. playing with a metronome is necessary for any good musician.

  • Not as much necessary as it is extremely helpful. There are some professional musicians out there especially in the classical world (for example timpani players) that are extremely good at pinpointing a speed, you can ask them to play 120bpm and they'll do it without requiring any aid.

  • they way they would get to be that tight though would be from hours of metronome practice

  • that was good, im happy theres people like you who don't attempt to play something impossible and sound like shit doing it, i bet you could play it faster judging by how clean that was

  • hey great playing, its different than the way that i play it. i got the tab from Guitar World.

  • No idea why these ridiculous guitarists try to play on guitar (not a violin, lol) something absolutely impossible! What they play is maybe 50% ot the amount of notes

    Paganini for the violin!

  • cause its fun and a good exercise

  • I bet a player like Marshall Harrison would be able to learn it almost perfectly, but that's just 1 man... By the way, most violinists doesn't play it perfectly either.

  • *cough* why dont you go watch becker playing this. I cant speak for everyone but I watch them because its awesome and classical just sounds so cool played in a metal version (yea not really digging the "clean" thing sorry :/ ) besides it sounds better when becker plays it...everything sounds better when becker plays it :O

  • glad to see it clean, with no distortion to hide mistakes! it's a very difficult piece even at this speed, well done, and props for using the metronome

  • Great job! Is this in Am?

  • Thanks! yes this piece is in the key of A minor

  • Can you play us the 24th Caprice?

  • Yes, it is. Great ear, man.

  • very very good song! But I have something good too...go check for Wounded from Judgement on myspace ,let me know what do u think!thanks!

  • Bravo...lose the metronome but bravo on playing this CLEAN...instead of having 3 Boss Blues drivers, 2 Big Muffs and a slew of Foxx Tones all hooked together like most of the players who play this piece. Playing clean is the best way to nail it...then after you've nailed it then you can use overdrive...good work.

  • Don't listen to anything negative said about this clip.... You are GREAT at playing the guitar. Thanks for posting this.

  • if u cant hear it then u must be a dog cause we all can

  • lol my speakers were off sorry XD

  • dude...turn off the metronome. you wouldn't go on stage with it, so don't use it in any other performances.

  • What's that? Samba version?

  • Sorry i haven't got the tab anymore. I got the tab original from ultimate-guitarDOTcom but i had to modify it alittle

  • Io lo suonerei più lento fossi in lui...

  • no es jesucristo

  • HAH

  • nice playing.

my guitar is exactly the same, except mine has the shark tooth inlays. mines a rg2550z :p

  • Nice job!

Working on this song improved my alt and sweep picking a ton. Probably one of the most helpful songs I've learned.

FYI to other guitarists - try learning this! It's not too hard at lower speeds but it feels fantastic under your fingers and pays a lot of dividends in technique. It also sounds really nice with a warm delay/reverb and any smooth tones (distorted, or clean).

  • I agree, I've been playing for 22 years now and learning this takes alot of dexterity, alt picking, sweeping. Pretty much every thing. When you learn this, you learning several leads from other guitar players as well.

  • i totaly agree... so helpfull

  • I can play this 10 times better on my bongo drums bippity bop bop boom baby

  • ......shut up

  • exelente buena digitacion saludos!!!!!!

  • wow that was really impressive, i love when you casually slide down the neck at 0:41

  • damn sight better than I

  • Not bad, but the song, much as the composer, is infamous for it's speed.

  • very nice

  • I like it. It doesn't even sound good if it's played too fast.

  • SWEET!!!! DAMN YOUR GOOD!

  • muy bien!

  • VERY GOOD!

  • it's great. if you can play it this clean i'm sure it's only a matter of time before you can play it faster just as clean.

  • What tempo is that?

  • its not that fast its around 102-104 bpm

  • Ibanez Rg 2550??

  • yeah thats right this is a Ibanez Prestege RG2550e

  • thats great, i think you do it a little sower but you do it perfectly so its better than fast and false notes

  • realy good

  • learn how to tap your foot while you play. Then sell the metronome...

  • i mean thats what i do and im damn good at keepin rythm

  • Well, you're not "damn good" at spelling,rhcpjohn444.

  • what? haha did i spell anything wrong other than keepin? and thats an abreviation

  • That's spelled *abbreviation lol

before on your other comment you misspelled *rhythm not that it really matters though. i mean don't lose sleep over it or anything.

  • hey this is sweet, i have a version up of this too..but i dont play the whole thing just some good stuff....

check out my newest solo! you wont be let down!

  • turn the fuckin metronome off and turn up the amp

  • Get your carpal tunnels on! wrist technique looked brutal as, may explain the lack of speed. plz try to play with the palm more upwards so the motion is less side to side, it may save your career

  • Is that a 2550?

  • cool

  • Where can i find the tabs?

  • Don't worry about the tempo. It was clean and solid. It's a great piece at any tempo and extremely difficult on guitar at any speed (even Yngwie admits this!). Nice job!

  • i have that guitar

  • dude i have the same guitar... but i cant play like that rock on !!!!!!!!

  • this song is super hard on violin

  • good job man!! 5 stars all the way

  • a lot of people say that guitar is all about playing realy fast and crunchy but some of the hardest stuff out there is stuff like this, awesome job man keep it up

  • Definately, my mate in my band shows no emotion or feeling physically but his playing style has taught me a lot. Some hard things look and sound so easy but it isn't.

  • Yeah, that metronome is so loud it's like the focal point of this video. I couldn't even hear how many mistakes the guitarist made. I need to remember that trick, because I am sure I could not do half that well! good job!

  • does any 1 knw where i cud get the tabs for this atall cos i really wanna learn it

  • thats a nice metronome, its not intensely irritating like some

  • nice work man :D could u please send me the tabs ? :)
