I don't think God cares if it's rock or gospel, hip hop or rap, He cares that we use music for His glory. Toby Mac is reaching out to people, telling them to resist the devil. A lot of the younger generation doesn't like traditional gospel so I believe God is reaching out through music they like because he wants young and old and everyone in between to be saved.

Animal sacrifices in the Old Testament were something God used that already existed in ancient Middle East culture; He made it His, using something culturally relevant to Abraham his people to make His covenant with them. It's all His, just how He continues to use what is relevant to us to reveal Himself today.

I don't think God cares if it's rock or gospel, hip hop or rap, He cares that we use music for His glory. Toby Mac is reaching out to people, telling them to resist the devil. A lot of the younger generation doesn't like traditional gospel so I believe God is reaching out through music they like because he wants young and old and everyone in between to be saved.

@Tellerjohnsmith i dont think so ectually. a beat can be evil. if you look at for example the sensation concerts, and other 'evil' concerts, you see that the devil the beat uses to open the peoples spirits, so he can 'come in'. just look it up in google or something. a beat can bring people in a trance that make them more open for spirituallity, and i mean evil spirits. i don't wanna sound smart, i'm only warning you that it can happen!

what's important is the life behind the music. somebody can say they go to church and not be a Christian. what i would want to know is more the issue of what Toby Mac's lifestyle is like, if he is living as a disciple of Christ, given that he is given some room for God's grace despite his mistakes, is he, for the most, living a Christ-filled life. personally, i think this is great music and i'm a 42 yr old. i don't have a problem with the words, as long as he is backing up his talk

have you actually listened to the WORDS to tobymac's music?? it doesn't have to be a traditional hymn to be singing praise to God, or to be saying what God wants to hear! try listening to "lose my soul"...preferably with the original music video; maybe then you'll 'get it'... ;)

@eptx1983 So, you trying to say that there can't be Christian Rap, Hip Hop, Rock, Screamo? If you hadn't noticed...this genre isn't exactly Praise/Worship. I believe God would be disappointed seeing one of His sons making music appealing to the Youth and giving them a message of encouragement to not fall to the Devil's temptations. @DrummerDude305 As powerful as Michael the arch angel is when contending with the Devil he did not even take the Devil on by even addressing him, but said the Lord rebuke thee Jude 9. So we should not either, James tells us all we have to do is resist the Devil and he will flee from you. Satan wants you to take him on cause he knows you'll lose, but we should not give him attention otherwise he feeds off of that, we just resist him. Take heed lest you fall. Shalom.

@eptx1983 John 2:15 is in regards to the worldly as in that which is not holy - or 'set apart'. Because it doesn't fall under the typical 'holy' category does not make it not holy. Animal sacrifices in the Old Testament were something God used that already existed in ancient Middle East culture; He made it His, using something culturally relevant to Abraham his people to make His covenant with them. It's all His, just how He continues to use what is relevant to us to reveal Himself today.
