I visited Laos in May 07 for the first time in 30 years..I saw some Hmnong towns on the way to Vang Vieng...and they were living just fine. There were no soldiers chasing, beating or shooting them. Those HMONGs that are in Thailand now..from what my cousin said..they were robbing/shooting pedestrian vehicles (hi-way robbery!). That's why the Lao government is going after them.

The Villege "Pha Lak", once used to be a prison camp that the communist use for keeping the Hmong and US prisoner during veitnam war. My mother was one of them. Their are manny big mountains and river surrounding the the camp which make it hard for the people in the villege to escape.

The Laotian did promise to make all their ethnic group equal as Laos citizens. I visited Laos in May 07 for the first time in 30 years..I saw some Hmnong towns on the way to Vang Vieng...and they were living just fine. There were no soldiers chasing, beating or shooting them. Those HMONGs that are in Thailand now..from what my cousin said..they were robbing/shooting pedestrian vehicles (hi-way robbery!). That's why the Lao government is going after them.
The HMONG videos "Hunted Like Animals" only portrays 1 side..the HMONG side.

It is a one sided story. those movies that have been shown about hmong ppl being killed by the laos are either due to the fact that hmong ppl killed each other and staged it or they did something wrong to the laos people or it could be true. so what needs to be done is to cooperate with one another and live in peace. there is no better place then laos.

There are ulterior motives coming from all 3 sides and the descendants of the Lao-Hmongs who sided with the U.S. are the only ones suffering for a past war they had no part in. The only solution to this matter is for all Hmongs around the world to ask for forgiveness from the LPDR. The LPDR has to dig up the human decency to follow suit. The Lao-Hmongs living in Vientiane needs to open their arms, ask the LPDR to allow them to help repatriate their own people.

This Laos is quite complex. Once I went back with some kind of political fears. My friend came to pick up me in the immigration zone. 'No need to do' I said to him. 'I am afraid you may be in anxiety'. We got out in the front of the Wattay airport. I asked my friend 'those white soldiers that guard the airport, who are they?. newho i have family that live in laos, some are doing ok living in the villages and some are still in the jungle living poorly. the ones in the jungle do have real fear of what will happen to them if they come out. promises are easily made (by the gov't) but will the promises be kept?
we rarely hear from the ones in the jungle...if ever.

I know many hmong who came to Thailand atter the U.S. made a decision to take in 15,000 Hmong. Many Hmong and two of my cousin left his home to Thailand hoping to get a quick free ticket to America after years of trying to migrate here. The one thing that lead or caused the thieves in France and U.S. to invade and try to rob Laos was our division and disrepectful of each other among differen ethnic group in Laos. During the revolution different ethnic groups of the Laotian people learn to unite and respect each other which lead to the defeat of the thieves in France and the U.S. Despite Vang Pao's attempt to creat more division for his own political gain, Laos managed to remain united. No one will be able to divide Laos now.
