I have not spoken Tausug in nearly 63 yrs.They have been taught this kind of body movements ,concentrating particularly on the hands ( mothers usually massage sort of the fingers of their daughters so they would be softer and more flexible in order to execute the beautiful hand movements.These are done patiently since they are babies.The movements of their whole body is phenomenal.

thats not badjao dance its called pangalay a native dance from southers philippines ,Lupah Sug(Jolo,Sulu) pangalay is the traditional fingernail dance of the tausug n tawi-tawi the panagalay movement strongly resemble those of kuntao silat a form of martial arts  . badjao is tribe they speak sama.......this a tausug,(people of the current) a ethic group of sulu-see wikipedia)our language we spoke is sinug with bahasa means language........

Nice mixture of traditional and modern musical accompaniment and rhythm. What does the body and hand movements signify? Some Philippine folk dances imitates the movements of certain animals like fish or birds. How about this one? Rarely do I see traditional dances being performed in solo. Excellent performance. thanks for the upload. iv shown this to my wife and she really appreciate it. she is a good pangalay dancer too and was happy to know that authentic cultural dance (moves) were still alive... sah dah pag susun da isab pasal way kami nakaingat sin sevices nyu. hampa naglag kami makapangalay ha pagtyaun namuh last feb. 2007 ha zamboanga. hampa laung in sila ini sulig na daindi. minuwih sja pa samboangan magtyaun.
