That is not true, there are many more churches and temples (protestant temples) than mosques in France, and still many French attend masses. It is only logical that in old european countries like France or England chueches outnumber mosques: they are part of our historical patrimony.

Real reason to try and defeat them in France and prevent an invasion of britain. Free French fought alongside the british in Syria against the vichy.

Absolutly wrong, France provided supply and weapons all along the war. The patriots would have been crushed without the french help.
The last and decisive campaign was basically french : deGrasse destroyed British Navy and Rochambeau attacked Yorktown.
During the operations, french outnumbered americans by four to one. The tactics, the troops, the weapons, the navy were french. Spanish and American played a minor role.
