In "It's Midnight" and he actually whispers "listen 'cilla" just before a relevant lyric. He was sweating and if confronted he would have probably said it was sweat, (he was known as a macho guy, after all) but i think the sweat was a convenient cover for the tears.

@Kyle1084 As far as I know there are two recordings of the Aloha from Hawaii show available, one was the rehearsal an evening or two before the show and the other is the show itself, which was broadcasted via satellite. I guess the rehearsal one is the one with the sweatteardrop...

I listen to Elvis Radio all the time and it was mentioned that on the day of the Aloha show it was then and there that Priscilla said she was leaving him. Elvis did the concert and then went back to his room and cried his heart out.. Anyone out there heard this before?????
@grace230608 I saw the movie, based on the book "Elvis and Me" written by Priscilla. In the movie, it does show her telling Elvis, just before a concert, that she wouldn't be there when he was finished. She was leaving him. He did go on and do the concert, but I'm not sure it was Aloha. Her leaving, devastated him, so I can certainly see him shedding a tear. A lot of the songs he went on to record, were almost like he was singing from experience. It's Midnight is the most poignant.

I have heard several people sing it during my many years and Elvis, positively sings it THE SADDEST. We thank James Burton, if he did get Elvis to include his rendition of the song in the Special.
Elvis Presley performed 1973 "Aloha Special" with excellence ..... but he said die and it should be fly at beginning of song. He may have been tired and forgot so quickly put something in that is unbelievably sad. I am great admirer but that one three letter word has great importance in this song. Even the greatest of all entertainers is not perfect, sad but true.

anymore, thereby the tear drops from the middle of his teary eye. Also, that concert was in
1973 - the year when his divorce got finalized. Priscilla left him in l972 and you can see from
the concerts in l972 that he is not truly happy. Deep inside he is hurting. All the songs he
sings got more meaningful and applicable to his situation .

I listen to Elvis Radio all the time and it was mentioned that on the day of the Aloha show it was then and there that Priscilla said she was leaving him. Elvis did the concert and then went back to his room and cried his heart out.. Anyone out there heard this before?????

@grace230608 I saw the movie, based on the book "Elvis and Me" written by Priscilla. In the movie, it does show her telling Elvis, just before a concert, that she wouldn't be there when he was finished. She was leaving him. He did go on and do the concert, but I'm not sure it was Aloha. Her leaving, devastated him, so I can certainly see him shedding a tear. A lot of the songs he went on to record, were almost like he was singing from experience. It's Midnight is the most poignant.

@bobbieluvselvis i know the movie you are talking about and i believe the concert he was doing was at the iternational hotel in vegas not 100% sure it was at the international but it was in vegas it also says in the book she wrote that it was in vegas but cant remember where

great job! And many wondered was that "tear" or "sweat" falling right from his eye, it was confirmed it was a tear, Elvis Really did think it was the saddest song he ever heard an just couldn't hold back any tears+he re fused to wipe any away during a song as this was world wide event.

Elvis Presley performed 1973 "Aloha Special" with excellence ..... but he said die and it should be fly at beginning of song. He may have been tired and forgot so quickly put something in that is unbelievably sad. I am great admirer but that one three letter word has great importance in this song. Even the greatest of all entertainers is not perfect, sad but true.

Elvis singing this Hank Williams song as only Elvis can. You believe every word he sings. Beautiful. It was actually James Burton who at a rehearsal in Hawaii, suggested that they should include this one in the special. Thanks for sharing:-)
