I have my father's Martin 0-15 that he bought brand new in 1941. I have his copy of the purchase contract. He purchased it on a time payment plan, paying $5 down and $5 a month for a total price of $25. He handed it over to me in the mid 1950's and I still play it today. I'll hand it over to my son one of these days. I guess its value has increased by about X100.
I'm looking to get an 0-15.. I found one with a straight neck but the shop is asking 2,500. I wan't to talk them down to 2. But still think the price is a little steep.
what stings do you have on it? i have the guild m-20, very similar. the heavey laqure gives it that blusy sound. i would like to hear one with the finishe removed. Hmmmm
sounds good man. Especially the tune in drop D. Im jealous how your pinky finger can hit the 6th string while you form the D chord. THats nice easy folks, even on a martin 0-15
Ok I just went and heard the original and my friend, you are NOT playing it wrong... Wilco wrote the song IMPROPERLY!!!
Sorry Im not normally such a kissass (much more an ass) BUT I literally cant stand how cool that is the way YOU play it with the circular feel and ringing notes.
No joke- I dropped D the day I got mine and tried to rip you off. Hard to cop the feel you have going- thats the BEST PART.
OK Im done. But Im going to be watching and biting your style off this vid!!!
Thanks, good luck with the 00-17 they have a thinner body and a more real guitar sound, not quite as boxy as the 0's. The song is the "The Thanks I Get" by Wilco. I'm not quite playing it correctly though.
Thanks for the info. If thats wrong, you dont want to be right!
Took the 00-17 to studio A (tuned wood room for orchestras) and holy crap... Just beautiful! My Mentor couldn't believe it either (Im an engineer). But it was tracking a client who had an 0-15 that made me go kookoo for small body Martinpuffs!
I was lucky. The prior owner of mine is a luthier at a local shop I use! It played like new, even with the wear and age.
Regardless, thanks for the vids- awesome examples!
Nope, not still produced. The new martin 15 series are braced differently than the old ones and have bolt on necks. They however are still great guitars, just different.
I've got a '42 0-18 that is in the process of being put back together - it was a total basket case. This 0-15 sounds great. Are the tuners original? Nice playing.
great palying man!!!

What you play at 1:07 is so fing ridiculously brilliant I had to mop up a bit...
What is that song? I love you played it in other vids and none sound even CLOSE to as brilliant as the 0-15.
No joke. I played that for my Mentor as one of the reasons I was looking for a 50s small bodied Martin.
Bought a 1955 00-17 today... Your vid really captures what I love about the small bodies perfectly!

Would you call the 0-15 a dreadnought size?
nick87audionut 3 years ago
the 0-15 is much smaller, i reckon even the 000-line is still smaller than a dreadnought. sounds smaller, anyway...
