  • Hi

im 18 and bit my nails for as long as i can remember, im also loosing hair. i am an extremly stressed person and everything frustrates me! I dont know if you belive in god or not bu i dont so all this blessing and stuff doesnt work for me ( no offence to you or you religion) but i want to stop biting my nails! i bite them till they bleed then bit them some more. i heard its a calcium shortage/deficiency i tryed distracting myself from it but i cant stop! what do i do :(

  • You Rock!

  • I thing that you are interesting people..

  • Hi Laura,

wow this story really inspired me.

Im 16 years old and I have been biting my nails all my life and Im sick and tired of biting my nails but I cant stop. I just cannot find a way to stop. My will power is not stong enough and lately I've been going crazy because I wanna stop biting my nails but I dont know how to go about it. its also very very embaressing being a 16 year old girl who still bites her nails.

    Please, any words of wisdom?

  • Here are my "words of wisdom"--I know it might sound simple--though its not necessarily easy. We bite our nails because we're stressed. I would invite you to do 2 things. 1st try and notice what is going on when you go to bite your nails. See if you can realize what the stress is. Sometimes being aware of something helps to disipate it naturally. 2 instead of biting--breathe! Yep-BREATHE-deep breaths into your belly. Stop what doing and do 5-10 of these and you'll release the stress & feel good!

  • i stopped biting my nails when i got braces XD not i hate having them short

  • I've seen the secret. My parent's made me watch it with them, but it's so inspiring.

Yes, I'm kind of young. 14.

If I think it's amazing, gosh, it's got to be pretty amazing.

And you know what, you are so inspiring too.

    And definitely amzing. =)

  • Thanks! I had my neices and nephews watch The Secret too...it kind of stuck with my 8 year old nephew--not so much with the rest. It's a great way to *train* your self to think...or watching that you are thinking about what you do want rather than what you don't!

    Keep Shining!

  • agh!!!! its so annoying when you try to stop!! its almost impossible for me!! and when i try to i constantly need gum because it keeps me from biting them...isnt that weird?

  • so...i shouldnt stop biting my nails? oh and also i just dont bite the nails i gnaw skin off my fingers too....and since i play guitar i had to stop chewing my left fingers!!!! that wasnt so hard...but i accidentally chew them sometimes but its just torture!! :(

  • yeah i gnaw on my skin too. and gum helps me too. if you want to stop eating the skin around your fingers try putting lotion or what i use, moisturizing hand sanitizer on them every about 10 minutes because it keeps the skin moistened so it doesnt peel and you dont chew. so far it has helped me. good luck!

  • Hi Laura, speaks little English but helping me with a translator I succeed in understanding your jewels messages...I would want to have me of your strength...and I would like to read your book...I don't know if has also been published in italia, I will inquire me!'!!

I do have a tattoo from about 20 years ago...it's very faded now so I put make up on over it. It really didn't hurt that bad.

  • I admire you because you make yourself see from the others for what you are, I don't succeed there and I don't know if I will succeed there' never...excuse me for the outlet, but have always hoped to compare me with people as me!

  • Ciao Bella! Thank you for sharing some of your story with me! It was very difficult for me for a long time and I never thought that I could be so comfortable with myself. I now feel very blessed for the lessons I have learned and the experience I have had. I am not sure if the book is published in Italian but check to see if Count Your Blessings by John Demartini is available...it might help you to see your life with new eyes :-) We are never given more than we can handle! Please stay in touch!

  • There are days that nn I think about my difference' other days instead I look at the other boy and I envy her...simply because you/they can pass him the hand among the hair or because you/they can go from the parucchiere or in swimming pool...

  • Its been 2 days but i always bite mine watching football its soo stupid, i think i can do this nice advice

  • yes...you might be nervous that your team wins?? Do you bet on the games? You might want to realize that you being nervous isn't going to help the team win and practice deep breathing instead of biting :-)

    Keep Shining!

  • Nope i dont bet or most of the matches i dont even support them, i cant stay staring at the tv while doing nothing it has to be biting nails :( but i got hell loads of chewing gum and search more advice round the net haha cya laura.

  • @MrAshLloyd AHAHA SPORTS will do that to a man

  • Actually...I know email is sometimes hard to interpret but I don't look at death as a loss...true they are no longer with us in a certain form but if you look and smell:-) around you will see that their energy has just transitioned and it is just another lesson that our soul was meant to experience here this lifetime! It is great that she shows up and fills your world with her lingering scent! Keep shining! Laura

  • :( this vid is vey sad for me because on the day u added this my friend died... but i like ur vid.

  • Sorry to hear that...my best friend died or as I like to say-transitioned-in a car accident that we were in together. She is my angel...always by my side reminding me to keep shining! I am certain it was no mistake that you found my video...I have been meaning to do a video about my friend who shows up in the most extraordinary ways. It can be a long healing process but it can eventually shift to where you just honor the relationship that you do have now...one with an angel ;-) Stay in touch!

  • o.. i am so sorry! yea... well i was only in a "young" state in my life and it really hurt, she had cancer, and she always wore purfume and i smell her all the time! i know it sounds crazy! but i am very spiritual! listen i'm glad u can spend the time talking to little o'l me! and once agian i am so sorry for you, death is sucha lose! pce and love!

    philipluver!

  • I have stopped for 2 days but then,i bt again

  • Is there something in your life thats stressful to you?? See if you can pinpoint it and satrt to disolve the charge around it. Everything even as bad as it may seem is somehow teaching you a higher lesson. Maybe if you can start to see the blessings in the situation you can eleviate the stress and then...stop the biting :-)

    Do your best!

    Laura

  • Thank you that is good advice

  • You have a very beautiful face. Would you like to go have a cup of coffee?

  • Interesting.. For 5 years my ex husband screwed with my head, i was severly depressed and suicidal for the first 3, but for the last 2 i haven't been as bad.. but i started biting my nails which i hadn't done for more than 15 years..!

My son has bitten his for 5 years as his dad really upsets him.. I tried to stop him... but maybe i shouldn't... as you say its a release and maybe better than the alternative, for both of us..!!

    Thanx Jaye x

  • So..it's great that you realize its a form of stress relief/release...now what there is to do is to deal with the stress. It might not be that you can change the actions of your ex husband but you can manage how you deal with his actions and communications. Then you might have to break the habit of biting your nails-even when the stress is no longer there. What a magical world we live in that all of us are so connected and experience so many of the same lessons :-) Keep Shining!

    Laura

  • is like e.t.

  • i stopped when i got my braces....now when i try to bite them, the braces pop off my teeth lol

  • lol

  • You are really smart, lol. Thanks, I bite my nails constantly. And one of my nails go to the left. Haha it's so retarted. But thanks

  • You are a very rude person I lost my hair and she might have cancer or something you ass

  • Ok, im Janet and i bit off my nails. i really want and need to stop..i get infections and im scared they'll cut off my fingers...i also want to know would they ever grow back..i mean i bit them really bad. like my nails r gone...if not then can i put fake nails on?

  • Pantagram i am so sorry, your nails will never grow back. You have ruind your nail bed, once you get past a point you can never grow them back and if you do, your nails will be bumpy and look worse than if they were gone. You should not put fake nails on skin it will REALLY hurt taking them off or the glue will pull off skin(it hurts even with fak nails on real nails.

  • Yes u r right...i put fake nails on once and i almost cried taking them off :p

  • anything is possible! I didn't have eyelashes for almost 15 years. I went to hear a speaker who was talking about the Law of Attraction and Delibrate (sp?) Creation and they said if you want your eyelashes to grow back go buy some mascara and picture yourself with eyelashes. I now have them. So picture your nails healthy-go buy some nail polish-but I wouldn't put that or fake nails on just yet

    :-)

  • lol, yeah i'm still trying not to bite them. i'll prolly start putting it on the ones that r not as bad.

  • I have tried to stop biting my nails for years. I think I was 8 when I stopped sucking my thumb, but then bit my nails. I can't find the will power to quit. I've stopped for a couple of weeks, but eventually chewed them off again. I believe I was stressed for mulitple reasons, and still do get stressed. Do I try everything I can to break my habit or should I start a new habit or just keep biting? This video really got me thinking about all kinds of things, thank you!

  • Hi Jaclyn, I think being aware that you bite your nails and then paying attention to when you do is the 1st step. I think the BEST habit to replace it with is deep breathing. This will get you centered and away from the emotion that is causing the stress. You could also replace it with a healthier habit-like drinking a glass of water or going for a walk/run. Or maybe a ride if you have the opportunity :-) Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you so much for the advice! You are inspiring.

  • noob

  • it's well good you stoped eating you nails i need to but its just to hard

  • Have a bright and blessed holiday! Thanks for visiting!

  • I LOVE YA!

  • Hello beautiful...you are a very strong woman to take control of your situation the way you have. Thank you for sharing your journey into Alopecia-it is very powerful. With love...Your Bald Sister :-)

  • Go Girl!!!
