nice ride, i got the same thing but HOLDEN SS ... i thought the pontiac g8 rims were different from the holden SS wheels? .... i have them rims on my SS.
actually the Holden Commodore doesn't hold a candle to the Pontiac version, and the g8 is more commonly known, you dumb bimbo. And since when has these ever been Taxis or police cars? You're thinking of a ford Crown Vic or a Chevy Caprice. Go back to school, little child.
Your pontiac has exactly the same body as our VE commodore. apart from different grill. In Australia we use them as taxi's and police cars. so fuck you and your ignorance you yankee monkey fuck.
You're pretty much right Matt. In America, however, we only get the performance versions and up(the SS, SS-V and HSV equivalents). GM also only brought about 35,000 G8s to our shores, so in the US its actually a pretty rare car-you'll go months without seeing one.
This is what gives the Americans an impression of a higher status attached to the car than Australians themselves give to it. Nobody here aside from hardcore enthusiasts is aware of its true origins.
The bandit: Matt is right, in Australia(and to a lesser extent, the middle east where it is a Chevy Lumina) the Commodore is commonly seen as a Taxi and police vehicle. It is to Australians what Camry's, Accords and Impalas are to Americans: Just a run of the mill ubiquitous sedan(and wagon).
They pay about as much attention to them as we do to the Chevy Impalas we see here.
big three cant compate... now this bringin an aussie car and make liltle mod. alright but my opinion this is not the right time to introduce and compate to the new generation car that is coming out from the imports JDM.
this one prolly no manual options i have not really looks at that much i rather choose the new maxima coup, its looks good but when i saw it the first time grand prix gt pops in mind why they never badges it to honor that grand prix,
It has the ss wheels from the commodore, not the ssv's 19s which look much better. Add an aftermarket exhaust and listen to it sing. The Holden SSV looks much better imo, should have just been exported with the LHD conversion and the exterior left alone.
Holden released a new Monaro (the old GTO Coupe) concept here in Australia so I'd say it could be on the cards! Google VE Coupe. Very good looking but no doubt Pontiac will have to put that stupid grille on.
Oh I definitely have already seen it. And I doubt that car is going to get made. GM is in a financial crisis and is canceling all vehicles that aren't fuel efficient. The Cadillac flagship, the cadillac V12 (both of which were being design by holden), and the updated cadillac northstar V8 were all canceled. So was the RWD Impala and RWD Buick (also developed my Holden).
I would love to see a G8 coupe, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.
Its already out for sale. I got one sitting in my drive way right now.
Now the G8 GXP is another story. It might not come out, the dealership I went to said it'll be out by February, but also said that GM has been pushing back the date. Either way... I'm trading in my GT when/if the GXP comes out.
I dont like american cars onestly but this one ? its FUCKIN AMAZING I saw a red one on the street today exactly the same It blew my mind its a sweet lookin european lookin beast I love it the design its perfect the exhausts the wheel base nice its perfect the way it is I wouldnt change anything in it.
@slrcarroll42 So far, there has been only one coupe version, the Coupe 60 concept car by Holden. You will have to lobby GM USA to put the case for a coupe. The coupe market in Australia is a lot more volatile than it is in Australia, so to make it economically viable for Holden to build them, they have to have a solid market for them.
haha dude this fucking thing has a 5 litre v8 in the gt why get the gtr? those are death traps reviewed they were the fastest thing to kill teens i looked it up the safety features are pretty low end which makes them shit
Maybe the performance numbers but never the overall of the car such as value, quality, and design. $40,000+ for a Pontiac...NO WAY!!! I don't care if it's faster than corvette or M5. The prestige and the overall quality of this car is no way near to a BMW. I'm not a fan of BMW, but you got admit BMW cars is a better overall car for $40,000. For $30-45,000 I would be looking at BMW or Mercedes.
I dont care how negative any of you get about the G8 its an awesome car we have one i drive it daily and i'm absolutely enjoying it!!! so dont put it down until you purchase one!!! way to go Pontiac!!
hello cathye62, i hear the g8 really performs well with the handling, I read an article where they compared it with the BMW 5 series, and they were almost idential in every comparison test, but the Beemer cost in the low 70s, Thanks
hi runningman1987 yes i've heard the same thing about comparing it to the BMW 5 series yes and i've also heard that some dealers are jacking the price on the first 888 G-8s we have one of those but the dealership we bought ours from didnt jack the price and it wasnt a bad price the mpg is getting better we are now getting 18 mpg and it is fasssstttt i learned that first hand when a chrysler 300 wanted to see what its made of ....
thagreen, the GTO flopped coz it looked like a piece of shit! GM should have never changed the front end! It resembled a fucking bitza dog. Can't trace anything of it's heritage. Should not have been called GTO either, blame GM US for that. Should have simply been marketed as something like Pontiac Coupe8!
I strongly agee...great automobile but a plane jane. us yankees call those "SLEEPERS", GM should've stuck "BUICK" badging on it and called it a STAGE II, or forgive me,but a "GN"
Ummm no jackass, it was designed in Australia and it is being built in america. The G8 is built in america due to the fact that it has subtle differences, such as driver side is opposite, the grill and the hood. But i wouldnt expect u to know that.
Your ignorance amazes me. Do a google search, or better yet, go out to the store, pick up a couple car magazines, READ them, learn something, and stop trying to be the expert you certainly aren't. If you weren't some idiot pretending to know everything, you'd know that the G8 is built in Elizabeth, Australia next to it's Holden counterpart. Then it's imported into the United States.
kaboom333, are you seriously that stoopid! This car is designed, built and exported from Australia. It goes to Middle East as a Lumina, Britain as a VXR and US as a G8. Wake the fuck up. Yes, us Aussies can build left hand drive cars. Yes we can apply a different front apron and hood according to the designated market. Is this so astonishing! Obviously to you it is! LOL...Ha Ha Ha....
ARGH!!! Iv been looking at getting the 1999-2002 model trans am, with WS.6. (in the next 2 yrs from now). Heard this car was comming out, might have got it. But the trans am positively OWNS this car. Rather get a commadore than this. And im an Aussie, who supports ford. UP YA!
first thing I would do is piss of that standard shit exhaust , Seen the aussie version of the same car make 15 kw more power on the dyno with a cat back hi flow system and sounds twice as good.
yep, agree /w INDColtsFan. This car has a V8, and the world show know it; a *bit* more exhaust noise from the factory wouldn't hurt. I've read the same in early reviews as well, other than that, great car.
its 4000lbs and has just over 360 hp, yeah its gonna be a huge hit just like the gto...oh wait, they stopped making those after less than 5 years of production.
You DO realize that your company is a wholly owned subsidiary of OUR company, GM. Can't claim all the victory. And yes, you should be flattered that your car is SO good that they want to take it to another country. Your narrow view on it is quite ignorant.
I want this car so much! what a badass ride. I also hear it will be available with a 6-speed manual not to long after the debut, if this is true, I need to start saving for one!
I think it's a pretty sweet car! chev V8, good power, they handle very well and the front grill actually looks pretty good on it compared to other pontiacs.
everyone . please search for " hsv ve " and " vauxhaul vxr8 " to see the race bred road version of this magnificent car designed and built in Australia and exported to our favorite allies , cheers.
It should actually be reasonable. It has cylinder deactivation, runs on 87 octane, and has a 6sp trans. With that massive torque it should hold 65mph at ~1800rpms in sixth.
The answer to that is...too many... that's why I ripped the whole exhaust system off on mine (Holden SSV aka Pontiac G8) and went to ceramic coated long tube headers and twin 3 inch. Check it out...
Not nearly aggressive sounding enough. Every video of this car should be of it racing around a track and doing smokie burnouts. My gramps buick is no different than this. Wow. It turned and blew steam out the tailpipe. Impressive. Where are the smokie burnouts?!
im sorry, but pontiac has to get off thier current designs, make somthing...like different, everything has looked the same from pontiac for the past 5 years body wise
(If someone has already stated this sorry, lol can't be bothered reading it all) Just for the record, the Pontiac G8 model is based on the Holden VE Commodore model for those that didn't know.
pontiac has a trend of doing that. Usually 2 or 3 years after a new model comes out, a GXP version is offered. It is also rumored that GM has a HSV Clubsport R8 which will probably be the G8 GXP.
Different sites say the pontiac g8 GXP could have 6.2L 425-plus horsepower LS3, or, less likely, the 500-plus horsepower supercharged LSA slated to find its way into the new CTS-V.
None of that is correct. The base V6 is the CTS's SEFI DOHC 3.6L V6. The step up motor is an L76 6.0L V8 that runs on regular. There has been no step up announced but in all likely hood it will be the 425hp LS3 6.2L V8. The Denali/Escalade motor is simply an LS3 detuned to run on 87 octane (as the L76 is a detuned LS2 to run on 87 octane).
ugly is an understatement. but 'shit' is definitely not accurate, look at the huge improvement the BA was. the AU was and still is a great car to drive. it's looks let it down.
falloutranger1, I don't have a bias favouring Fords. I drive a Holden myself. But the external design of this particular variant of Holden is dull and lifeless and a little bit odd.
"Holden, officially GM Holden Ltd, is an Australian automaker based in Port Melbourne, Victoria, originally independent but now a subsidiary of General Motors (GM).[1] The Holden automotive marque is one of GM's "alpha" brands. Holden has taken charge of vehicle operations for General Motors in Australasia and holds partial ownership of GM Daewoo in South Korea on behalf of GM.[2]"
To end all the arguing. Yeah, Holden is a subsidiary of General Motors, however the G8 (aka Commodore) is Aussie designed and developed. If GM in the US had enough skill they'd be building it themselves, but they're not. These cars are built in Oz, same as the Lumina in Mid East and VXR8 in England. All Aussie designed and developed.
Nice.. nice. Hey the yanks do have the skill... HOWever, GMH at Elizabeth in SA are building these for the yanks because they have won the manufacturing contract and sales to the US. Its got nothing to do with skill... please educate yourself.
phattube, educate yourself. The G8 is our Commodore. We didn't win a contract. GM US wanted this car because you guys can't build one in the states, for the price, on a rear drive platform, with these dimensions. This car was realesed in Australia in 2006. Its already 2 years old! Not to mention the Commodore name has been around for twenty years!
Hey seANUS, stupid.. these cars could have been made in fucking taiwan but they werent. doesnt mean they arent skillful enough. Aust has the tooling for these machines. Educate yourself!!
Hey phatty, you still dont get it. We have the tooling coz we build the fucking thing, coz we wanted a car like this. If US wanted one why dont you build it. You've all gone front wheel drive or SUV crazy ova there. Now we've got it everyone else wants one! STOOPID!
hey im not from US... so i dont give two fucks. building these cars and sending to the US doesnt make us aussies more skillful than the US. they saw our aussie holdens, realized there would be a market in the US therefore placed an order with Holdens (Australia) to build them. Has nothing... i reapeat... nothing to do with "more" skill than the US..
GM owns Holden. The V8 engine in Commodore is a CHEVROLET V8, not a Holden V8, a Chevrolet V8. The chassis is Zeta, a GLOBAL GM platform. Holden does sell a rebadged Colorado if i'm not mistaken.
da is da same car in saudi arabia but its called chevy lumina ! and they have another one its the chevy caprice there ! and they well make a new impala in 2010 and it well be a rear wheel rive 6.0 litter engine ! ( can i find this car in canada ?)

Num1Pacesetter 4 years ago
very quiet, wonder how many resonators are in it
DarrenWS6 4 years ago
The answer to that is...too many... that's why I ripped the whole exhaust system off on mine (Holden SSV aka Pontiac G8) and went to ceramic coated long tube headers and twin 3 inch. Check it out...
bucko1671 4 years ago
Not nearly aggressive sounding enough. Every video of this car should be of it racing around a track and doing smokie burnouts. My gramps buick is no different than this. Wow. It turned and blew steam out the tailpipe. Impressive. Where are the smokie burnouts?!
myhalo123 4 years ago
This was filmed at a dealer. They want to be nice to the car so they can sell it before fucking it up.
terridot 3 years ago
i want the wheels the used on the reveil car, not this crap they offer on the pontiac website.
odessyrcr589 4 years ago
What is Pontiac trying to achieve here, other than to make the G8 look like a BMW? Owell, whatever, I'd buy it.
mcromance1 4 years ago
im sorry, but pontiac has to get off thier current designs, make somthing...like different, everything has looked the same from pontiac for the past 5 years body wise
robertt7747 4 years ago
(If someone has already stated this sorry, lol can't be bothered reading it all) Just for the record, the Pontiac G8 model is based on the Holden VE Commodore model for those that didn't know.
Exalt4KoRn 4 years ago
Definetly wont one of them.
godofwar2master 4 years ago
That "GT" had the V6 wheels. What's up with that? I thought you couldn't get those wheels with the V8?
SuzukiKid400 4 years ago
hot. but i'm going to wait for the GXP.
slicvic214 4 years ago
don't know much about this car but is it really gonna be offered on a GXP?
cobrasegundo 4 years ago
pontiac has a trend of doing that. Usually 2 or 3 years after a new model comes out, a GXP version is offered. It is also rumored that GM has a HSV Clubsport R8 which will probably be the G8 GXP.
slicvic214 4 years ago
Different sites say the pontiac g8 GXP could have 6.2L 425-plus horsepower LS3, or, less likely, the 500-plus horsepower supercharged LSA slated to find its way into the new CTS-V.

starter engine is a 3.9 v6 240hp base v6 is the gto 400 horse and top end is 6.0 ho v8 same as a sierra denali
gimmedatding 4 years ago
None of that is correct. The base V6 is the CTS's SEFI DOHC 3.6L V6. The step up motor is an L76 6.0L V8 that runs on regular. There has been no step up announced but in all likely hood it will be the 425hp LS3 6.2L V8. The Denali/Escalade motor is simply an LS3 detuned to run on 87 octane (as the L76 is a detuned LS2 to run on 87 octane).

australias uglyiest ?
hahahahahaha ford shit
jason9870 4 years ago
ugly is an understatement. but 'shit' is definitely not accurate, look at the huge improvement the BA was. the AU was and still is a great car to drive. it's looks let it down.
jimking19 4 years ago
Its a HELL of alot better looking than the alien faced G6
shreddmasterj 4 years ago
Hahaha...retard. And what makes you so is that you can't set your personal bias aside and just say that it's a nice car, what a fag.
falloutranger1 4 years ago
falloutranger1, I don't have a bias favouring Fords. I drive a Holden myself. But the external design of this particular variant of Holden is dull and lifeless and a little bit odd.
jimking19 4 years ago
350 horepower in a car that weighs 3900 pounds...Its gonna be a bullet lol
32silvercoins 4 years ago
It's going to be ass. 33 grand for a car that'll be lucky to run 15's?...eh...no thanks.
elsephen 4 years ago
Do some research, with 360hp and weighing almost 2 tons, these cars will do close to mid 13's in the 1/4 mile.
joshnc101 4 years ago
Does it really matter....The car is amazing and its gonna be a smash hit...Thats all that matters
32silvercoins 4 years ago
THis Car is a rip off of the fuckin Commodore wow GM sure cant get there own ideas lol
DammitLeroy 4 years ago
um, Holden IS General Motors.
Sephirius 4 years ago
No its not they dont hav trucks and vans do they ?
DammitLeroy 4 years ago
"Holden, officially GM Holden Ltd, is an Australian automaker based in Port Melbourne, Victoria, originally independent but now a subsidiary of General Motors (GM).[1] The Holden automotive marque is one of GM's "alpha" brands. Holden has taken charge of vehicle operations for General Motors in Australasia and holds partial ownership of GM Daewoo in South Korea on behalf of GM.[2]"
from wikipedia.
Stop being butthurt that Americans own your ass.
Sephirius 4 years ago
Thank you, and jbc123 Ur a dick and i didnt kno this so ur a wet.
DammitLeroy 4 years ago
To end all the arguing. Yeah, Holden is a subsidiary of General Motors, however the G8 (aka Commodore) is Aussie designed and developed. If GM in the US had enough skill they'd be building it themselves, but they're not. These cars are built in Oz, same as the Lumina in Mid East and VXR8 in England. All Aussie designed and developed.
seanus71 3 years ago
Nice.. nice. Hey the yanks do have the skill... HOWever, GMH at Elizabeth in SA are building these for the yanks because they have won the manufacturing contract and sales to the US. Its got nothing to do with skill... please educate yourself.
phattube7 3 years ago
phattube, educate yourself. The G8 is our Commodore. We didn't win a contract. GM US wanted this car because you guys can't build one in the states, for the price, on a rear drive platform, with these dimensions. This car was realesed in Australia in 2006. Its already 2 years old! Not to mention the Commodore name has been around for twenty years!
seanus71 3 years ago
Hey seANUS, stupid.. these cars could have been made in fucking taiwan but they werent. doesnt mean they arent skillful enough. Aust has the tooling for these machines. Educate yourself!!
phattube7 3 years ago
Hey phatty, you still dont get it. We have the tooling coz we build the fucking thing, coz we wanted a car like this. If US wanted one why dont you build it. You've all gone front wheel drive or SUV crazy ova there. Now we've got it everyone else wants one! STOOPID!
seanus71 3 years ago
hey im not from US... so i dont give two fucks. building these cars and sending to the US doesnt make us aussies more skillful than the US. they saw our aussie holdens, realized there would be a market in the US therefore placed an order with Holdens (Australia) to build them. Has nothing... i reapeat... nothing to do with "more" skill than the US..
phattube7 3 years ago
We do? I drive around America all the time and our cars look like dog shit.
We have the engine part down, we're respected there but looks, suspension, and efficiency arevWAY below standards imo.
LooseLatitude 3 years ago
Dude your a fucking retard. Holden is partners with Pontiac and under GM's managment. Learn your shit.
jbhc123 4 years ago
GM owns Holden. The V8 engine in Commodore is a CHEVROLET V8, not a Holden V8, a Chevrolet V8. The chassis is Zeta, a GLOBAL GM platform. Holden does sell a rebadged Colorado if i'm not mistaken.
Frylock350 4 years ago
no... it IS a commodore...lol. open mouth, insert foot. hell there are rumours that gm will start opening holden dealers here.
1320crusier 4 years ago
aussie ones r better
chehade3 4 years ago
Its the exact same car. Be flattered that it's a good enough car that GM brought it to the US.
