  • Rock of Gibraltar to the nth power and then some.......

  • I remember hearing he in an interview many years ago saying that David Crosby taught her so many tunings for the guitar. I also recall hearing that, except for Woodstock, she doesn't play anything that's not in some tuning.

  • too much.

  • I'm just one in a generation of Joni Mitchell "wannabes"....I can't play guitar...just piano...but I would have loved to have written some of her songs and had her vocal stylings , and sung with some of the people she that did......she is a treasure of an artist!

  • yay! this performance absolutely towers above the over-produced, over-arranged, tom scott-ified, steely dan-ish recording on *Court and Spark*. what a great song. what a great performance.

  • One of the very few who truly can't be compared as a guitar player-everyone but her uses a fu*king blueprint.

  • @buschnic61 Totally agree. Well put. :)

  • Apart from being a genius singer / songwriter, Joni is such a great guitar player !

In fact her musical talents on piano, dulcimer and guitar are always so integral to her great sound.

  • "Listened to this since it hit the airwaves, -----still has the same effect, like floating on a rubber raft in the swimming pool on a hot summer day!" Man....... this woman can "swing!"--------" LOL !"....doesn't matter what clothes this "thing" wears.....

  • Ain't no-one coming round like this for a while........

  • @TheNigelr

    So true, so true!

  • I love her syncopated style. She is obviously sooo enjoying this evening! Love you Joni and have for 40 years.

No sour grapes from me concerning you!

  • I think, in my opinion, that this is the most beautiful song of her.

  • It's up there. Take a listen to Sweet Bird.

  • amazing... but I missed Furry sings the blues on this dvd..

  • Just Joni and her guitar...No band is needing,no backing vocals,no horns,violins...Just this fabulus woman alone is more than enough,is heaven...

    love you Joni!!!

  • I buy this DVD. Is so amazing. I cried hearing this yesterday.

  • she's the best.

  • Sorry about my spelling above,i'm 67 and my vision isn't what it used to be but I can still recognize genius win I see it.....and hear it

  • Talk about painting with words and music.

You can see every character as she describes them and every scane1 None better

  • thanks for the music what year is this from?

  • mid 90s i guess

  • @ObiMatKenobi I saw her open for Bob Dylan sometime mid-90s. Was so wonderful. Always will be grateful I got to see her life...wish I could again.

  • she is a musical genius...I grew up with her music in SF, late 60s...was an incredible time. As she said in one interview, there was no job like hers, she was a pioneer in the music world.

  • This is from "Painting With Words and Music," available on WB DVDs.

  • I read that Joni would have forsaken touring altogether had it not been for the self tuning guitar ,

  • "That's called her roadies!" She's had "LOTS of those from day 2!"

  • The guitar she plays is a midi'd Parker Sly Artist. It allows her to play different tunings (this song features an open C) on one guitar in concert. According to her friends, Joni can play in 50 different tunings.

  • OK---SO RARE~~~ MAGIC----TRUE

  • thanks...f-ing lovely...xxx

  • This is a terrific video....did she also sing Heijera atthis concert? I recall a video I saw about a year ago that looked similar...thanks.
