  • Fucking Genius

  • a cosmic hobo!

  • Lol! Especially when he starts singing the theme at the end and the creator's like "What was that?". Lol, thanks for posting!

  • The show was an original until about 1978, when it was turning into "The Tom Baker show". After that it was a parody of itself and just a vehicle for gay activism. Not against gay activism per se, just that the show itself went from being renown for being a children's show with excellent writing to being renown for being the worse, most campy show in tv history.

  • Okay, clueless American here... Is it just me, or does footage of that horse puppet (or one like it) show up in "The Idiot's Lantern" on one of Magpie's TV's? That's a Mark Gatiss-written episode, so it seems possible.

  • lmao

  • love this ! never fails to make me laugh. brilliant.

  • "!Wouldn't that spoil the mystery of the character?" "Yes, yes it would"

  • awesome.

    2:04 LOL

  • btw, it was shown in November 1999, not September :)

  • That was the best thing ever. I love the theme tune part, I laughed so hard.

  • @rory215 "Write them theme tune, sing the theme tune..."

  • This is where RTD got the idea for the Master's drum beat.

  • hahahaha

  • i love this...not much interest for Doctor Who but i love Mark Gatiss. the theme tune bit is amazing

  • Very good!

Bit nasty towards the end though. Mark Gatiss doesn't seem to have much love for the last three classic Doctors (Davison, Baker, McCoy) does he?

The equity card thing was cut out on the DVD release, as it upset the actors concerned and Gatiss later regretted it.

  • i think thats actually aimed at the last 2 but, lets be honest, they were pretty shit but it isnt there fault. it was the writers who fucked it up toward the end

  • Cruel and disrespectful.. but hilarious !!

  • I believe you're right that it's more aimed at Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. Gatiss spoke highly of Peter Davison's Doctor on the Earthshock DVD documentary.

However, there is still a sly dig in the sketch at John Nathan-Turner, with the reference to the costumes worn by the last three Doctors and question marks on the lapels.

  • Gatiss later remarked upon watching the original broadcast of these sketches that, as soon as he heard that line again, he instantly regretted it and knew it had been a mistake. He didn't intend to be so disrespectful to any of the "Who" actors, he just made a poorly-judged joke.

  • They cut out the f***ing equity card from the "Doctor Who:The Beginning" DVD box.

  • Very good until the end...

"Nah, towards the end just any old f**ing equity card"

You leave Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy alone now you f**ing retards!!!!

  • this is such brilliance :]

    haha, 'strange old young face'...

i remember the first time i watched this i cried with laughter every time mark started singing the theme tune, and i agree with 'TheWhoLegends' that mark is the one whose got it completely right.

but yeh, so so funny :]

  • Ah, the Doctor Who Night of 1999. The night I became a fan. 10 years later i've got every story on VHS/DVD/CD. How sad...

  • Fantastic, these guys love the show:)

  • ROFLOL! OMFG... when they started to sing the theme I busted up laughing... LOL!

It's odd, I saw this way before I got into Little Britain but I did not realize it was David Williams until just now. I always thought he looked familiar when I was watching LB.

  • I loved doctor who night! but my dad taped over it...With football... :(

  • Aww! Most Amazing thing ever!

  • loved this , they should do an updated version.

  • Welcome Russel T. Davies. I see you plan to resurrect an old TV show called... Drwho?

  • i do like david walliams but theres something about him thats over the top, he just hasn't quite got it for this really, but mark knows his stuff.

  • I remember this the 1st time round, didn't get it as much as i do now tho. The theme tune big stuck in my head for 9 years so it must be good :)

  • Poor Colin Baker and Mccoy. They weren't just any old you-know-whatsits!

  • I read the information on the video before watching it. I was expecting some really horrible, 'I took video of my tv with my video camera pointed at it' and found nothing to complain about quality-wise while watching it. Thank you so much for sharing this, I got a really kick out of it!

  • *I really got a kick out of it! (Sorry for the spelling mistake).

  • I can't stand David Walliams (only two comedy voices in his repertoire, and both annoying), but this was still very funny. Thank goodness for Mark!

  • The F**K Bit Was edited out on the dvd for colin baker and slivester complained

  • As well they might!! But its still chronically funny

  • HAHA, that was HIGHlarious. Too bad it's not a big here int he U.S. Oh well , it felt like an inside joke when you see the Tom Baker sequence in Blue Harvest

  • lmfao

  • The bit at the end - theme tune! rofl!!

  • 26 frickin years!

  • I'm surprised they didn't mention Tom at all...

  • Yes, it's Tom Baker...so?

  • Tom baker! *faint*

  • I think you can find this on one of the classic DVDs

  • on the beggins box set

  • loved this when it was on

  • dude have you got the black and white spoof one off dr who night too? You know the "DOCTOOOOOOR" one? Thanks for uploading this though :)

  • I've just uploaded it!

  • David's face! lol!

  • That's fantastic! Mark is so brilliant :]

I love it when they start singing the theme tune. hehe, fantastic.

    Doctor Who <3

  • That was hillarious! But just being pickey, wasn't Sydney Newman from Canada or somewhere, or am I just dreaming that.

  • Mr Borusa LOL

Does anyone have the other two sketches that went with this "The Web of Caves" and "The Kidnappers"

  • "he changes into a cosmic hobo" i love it!!!

  • *science.

    SCIENCE fiction! *Cough*

  • "Game show is it?"

    "No. It's fan fiction."

  • Brilliant!!!

  • That was freakin' hilarious. I wonder if everyone got all those in-jokes?
