@steve5123456789 Huh? Most of the film consists of Mima going about her life. What would they need to censor?
I can think of at least one live-action foreign film off the top of my head that's at least as extreme in content as Perfect Blue, and came over here no problem (Oldboy).
@steve5123456789 You really think that none of the movies released in America contain rape scenes? ;-) Besides, American films aren't submitted to any government board for review prior to release. The American government isn't involved in censoring films.
@ONVPodcast A lot of live action movies don't. There's no market for it. Especially at the time this released. So--in conclusion, if it weren't for it's animation, i'd bet you anything no body here would have even heard of it.
@ONVPodcast I don't recall any of those being Japanese. This is a Japanese movie. They hardly ever come to america, and if they do, it's not very popular. It has to do with the interests of people and the time it happens. It all has to do with timing in the film industry. I just don't think it would have made it anywhere if it was live action specifically for that reason.
@L5abridged Ah, I see what you're saying. I was replying to steve's comments.
That said, there are quite a few "mature" live-action Japanese films that have come over to North America to a success rivaling Perfect Blue's, such as Battle Royale, Suicide Club, Audition, and Takashi MIike's films.
I bet this one's for halloween, her ghostly idol self's kinda like a serial killer, that japanese horror anime movies better than american horror live action movies, except satoshi kon, he sadly died cuz of the stupid cancer,
it was a character designer of Roujin Z name Hisashi Eguchi to make the characters look cute, oh! and I love that japanese anime girls with dollface-esque pink lips
i think this os one of those animes that i really need to rewatch, because when i last saw it (when i was like 10) i really didnt like it. i'll have to see if i can borrow it from a friend or find a stream

@ONVPodcast Unless if they wanted to censor 90% of the movie then yes.

@ONVPodcast Hmm.. maybe the 2 rape scenes would be a good place to start. Saying USA gov likes to protect there people from reality.
