Not many of the children know about what they did back before they got bombed, they just learn that Americans did it. At least the Germas teach their children what they have done in the past and not take from other countries when they help rebuild then remove them from the positives in history.

I am an Aussie and I can't forgive the Japanese for what they did to our POWs and everyone elses for that matter. What they did to them as well as in China and Singapore makes me fucking sick to my stomach and cry. Sure it's sad that innocents died in the bombs but anyone who is ignorant to believe that Japan would have stopped needs to be put into one of those camps. The Japanese make me fucking sick.

Im sorry CrsFire, what did the allies do that was 'equally as horrible'?? When you say you're sure what do you base this on? i have never heard of anything that compared to this perpetrated by the allies. The Japanese were treated extremely humanely in Cowra, fed, clothed, treated, there were no 'death marches' there.

My grandfather was a british soldier. He spent over a year in a japanese prison camp somewhere in Burma and "thank god" survived. He never talked about the war years, he became a silent man, drank heavely the last years in hes life. He had to be drunk just to fall asleep at night. He never told my father anything about the war. He passed away in the 80's leaving us without much knowledge of what really happened to him in the camp.

My father was a Far East Prisoner of War. There are whole weeks and months of his captivity that he could not remember, because his psyche blotted it out as a safety device. The annoying thing is that in the main the Japs were allowed to get away with it. And let's not also forget the unnumbered Chinese, Malays, Filipinos, Thais, Burmese and all the others that the Japs massacred. The Holocaust was a picnic by comparison.

We dropped the Atom bomb on Hiroshima and a 2nd on Nagasaki and Truman has Balls and would have dropped 4 more nukes on their asses until they were all dead. @AbzPoo I am from USA and I am amazed at how fuked up US government could be. The Japs had a Medical Camp in CHina where the did experiments on Chinese civilians and Allied POWs. In one operation they dissected live men and women so that they could watch the human heart beat. Instead of executing these evil doctors the US government set them free in exchange for the medical information that they learned. US government can be fuked up!

@snapcase71 On Rememberance day 1965 during the Borneo campaign. We as a infantry company purposely travelled by RN ship to Sandakan and marched to the site of one of the camps, and held a very moving memorial ceremony to those that died there. Many locals from the town of Sandakan came with us that day. They were well aware of what had previously taken place, and showed equal respect to that particular piece of ground.

Speechless...great story from 60 minutes...what our diggers had to face is beyond my imagination and the Australian government covered it up...no wonder people don't trust our government. Without our diggers Australia would have been taken over , I owe everything to them they are my heros. As for the japs..I must say they are cruel and twisted wierd and disturbed mind set, sneaky and sly and yes the Australian Goverment is selling big chunks of our country to the Japs and everybody else. I also thank the Loyal Local Freedom Fighters who assistted the members of Australian Z Special Force in the recovery of the four men from Ranua.

of course what the japanese soldiers did was awful and a war crime. but let's not forget that almost every other country in the war, including the allies committed crimes that were equally horrible. war is a horrible thing and it hardly happens that one side is the good or right side. and never claim that the actions of a military reflect the beliefs of the public.

Many people hate what Hitler did to the Jews and no one really argues with them but I feel the same way about what the Japanese did to everyone. I know what the Germans did was on a larger scale but what the Japanese did makes me sick to my stomack.
