  • I'm getting the same problem that many others are having... it doesn't pass the apple logo on boot up, the spinning wheel thing never appears. Thanks to anyone who can suggest a fix for us.

  • @ZackehhSoul When i try to power it up, it's saying "USB disabled" something. Can't read the whole error message because it automatically brings up a blue screen and then restarts. I'm stuck at this point.

  • I HAVE INTEL CELERON BUT DOSENT NOT HAVE VIRTUAL SUPPORT U THINK IT lion will still work using the vmware unlocker

  • I get 0xc0000142 error and

"The virtual machine could not start. Make sure VMware Workstation is installed correctly and you have rights to run the software and to access all directories it uses, including directories in which the software is installed, directories containing the virtual disk and configuration files, and directories for temporary files." message

    I used Workstation 8

  • Just tried to update to 10.7.3 (on VMware 7) and now when I boot up I get the apple logo for a bit then it changes to circle with a line through it and the spinning wheel that just keeps spinning.

  • Worked like a charm, thanks man!

  • I'm a total noob with this and haven't even tried it yet, but I will.

I noticed you always leave the "3d acceleration" box unchecked so I'm wondering, is it even possible to get 3d accelerated graphics in a virtual mac?

  • I get an error.

The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. You will need to power off or reset the virtual machine at this point.

    I have an AMD CPU

    What do I do?

    Thanks

  • Work on VMware Workstation 8?

  • Does this work with VMware Player 4 ??????

  • For all those comments about the apple logo without the spinning wheel. You're problem is because of darwin.iso and darwin.iso.sig hasn't been copied correctly to the VMWare folder.

    To fix the problem:

Close all VMware tasks using the Task Manager

    Copy the darwin.iso and darwin.iso.sig

Paste the two files into C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation

Restart your computer and it should be working now

  • thank you very much for your great uploads btw :)

  • No intent please help!!

  • My Internet doesn't work in it please help me!!

  • I am experiencing the same problems others are. The left click seems to cease working after doing certain functions. I am guessing this has to do with the unlocker. I am using Windows 7 64 bit on VM 7.1. Is there a fix to this?

  • Hey! Firstly, I would like to say Thank you! for everything you done! Secondly, I had "Exception 0xc0000005 (access violation) has occurred" error and what you need to do is uninstall vmware and install it again. Also, if this is not working for you, try installing other version. (I had vmware 8, uninstalled it and installed vmware 7.1.3)

  • @dorianmw So your saying if i uninstall the 8.0.1 and reinstall 8.0.1 it might work? the thing is i want this to work on 8.0.1 witht he latest unlocker :) i have no doubt it would work on 7 or 8.0.0 :) but still am i understanding you correctly? :)

  • @ZackehhSoul, is there anyway to change the language on the login screen?

  • First, thank you for posting these fantastic vids...they are very helpful. I seem to be having issues with the shared folder disappearing on boot up. i see it flash then it disappears. I notice others have had similar issues...was there a suggested fix or procedure to help ?

much appreciated on any advice...keep up the great posts!

  • New question, Why does the VM throw an error on both x86 and x64 setup. The x64 doesn't give a reason. the x86 says that the 32bit system isn't supported. Any ideas?

  • When I try to extract the ziped folder I keep getting an error saying Unsupported compression method. Any help?

  • @Anarchy4ever13 Use the latest 7zip

  • @Anarchy4ever13 I've got same error :-(

ok. now it starts up but hangs at the Apple as some have reported.. ok i know if i downgrade to 8.0 it would work but .. HELP! :)

  • Hello, do you know how to change the language in the login screen?

  • im using vmware workstation 7.1.4 and i am getting stuck on the apple logo like many others here, the pinwheel never appears, anybody figure this out yet?

  • Thanks! Works for me. The Hardware Virtualization Bypasser did not was as it should have. Had to modify my VAIO's BIOS which did not allow Hardware Virtualization and it booted perfectly. There are some left-click problems and some other bugs, but I'll live with that. Thanks again!

  • "shows the Apple logo, but nothing further."

I had this problem. I installed VMWare Workstation instead and that fixed it. It works 100%

  • Everything working smooth. However I don't understand why certain things just won't display. For example, Youtube videos don't show up. Instead I see a transparent background. Something similar happens to photo editing software as well, to put it simple, images just won't display. If anyone knows something about this, please let me know.

  • @breakwin96 looking in to it even more... apparently the problem is the good old "cpu has been disabled by guest operating system" :( this sux :'(

  • I'm experiencing the left click problem too. I've found that it seems to occur when using the header toolbar, dragging scrollbars (and holding down left mouse key on UI controls in general), or using any advanced features of a laptop trackpad (ELAN Smartpad for me). I've managed to use most applications for hours by using keyboard shortcuts wherever possible.

  • why do i get a "The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. You will need to power off or reset the Virtual machine at this point." ? I don't understand...i get this when im booting up on the grey screen with the apple logo. Thanks for the help...

  • @kyang2124 I'm getting this error too, have been searching for and asking for help but no one is responding.. I'm using an AMD Phenom II X6

  • About the left clicking, its not just a mac problem, my ubuntu installation now does it. Its obviously the unlocker doing something to vmware. Can anyone help?

  • @liamclosier How is it "obviously the unlocker"? It could be any number of things. Which VMware are you using? It could be a version 8 bug or something. Mine works fine (7.1.4)

  • @ZackehhSoul I was using version 8. had to go to version 7 due to the unlocker not working. Im not moaning just saying to have a look at it and test it. Do you have any ideas about the left clicking. It works fine before i use the unlocker on 7.1.4. But after isntalling the unlocker left click don't work neither in my ubuntu virtual. After reinstalling vmware it works fine

  • Is thee a fix for the left click?

  • No that didn't work , I'm using a AMD athlon II x4 640 cpu..... I think that's why the code didn't work =/ Thank you though for the quick reply I really appreciate it !

  • @xIIXVIIx Google around. There might be another code more suited to your processor (although I can't be certain).

  • guys getting stuck on the grey screen with the apple. Use vmware workstation 7.1... it will work then. i had the same problem on 8. its the vmware unlocker script for version 8 is broken and does not work. It does work for 7.1

  • After about five minutes/ or clicking the apple on the top left i lose the function of left click. I have to shutdown and turn back on for it to work. anyone know a fix?

    thanks

  • I kept getting the "CPU disabled by guest OS" error. I fixed it by adding

    cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:1010:0101"

to the end of the .vmx file for the VM. Worked on Snow Leopard, and appears to work on Lion. Using an i5 processor.

  • @omastudios OMG THANK YOU I COULD NOT GET THIS TO WORK UNTIL NOW THUUUUUMBBBSSSS UPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @omastudios Can you please tell me how to do that ! I'm a newb at this and really struggling to get it to work =( Thanks in advance

  • @xIIXVIIx Open up the file "Mac OS X Lion.vmx" (or whatever the name of the .vmx file you downloaded is) using notepad, then add the line in my first comment to the end of the file. Save the file, exit Notepad, then open the .vmx file with VMWare again (try not to accidentally set Notepad as the default editor when opening the .vmx with it).

If all goes well, it should work, although I think the fix is entirely dependent on your processor (post your processor people: it helps others).

  • Comment removed

  • @omastudios i cant find where to put it in at

  • @omastudios Didn't work.

  • Hi Zack,

    Great tutorial!

Everything works great but my graphics card (nvidia 8800gt) is not detected so can't run programs like imovie, any help?

  • @mtbmtbmtbmtbmtbmtb You need to install a .kext for your graphics card. Search Google, because it's Nvidia, it'll be there. Check your PM.

  • Hey man i Get an problem when powering it on it says you have configured this virtual machine to use a 64-bit system and then it says continue without 64-bit support? Please help A.S.A.P

  • How about dual-boot, is that possible? Great tutorial btw, thx!

  • Good tutorial, clear and to the point. I liked your shortcut to run cmd promt from the current folder. Very handy, but had to follow carefully here - You didn't make it clear that you needed to run this as Administrator as your shortcut does this automatically.

So if anyone has run into problems with the set up : Make sure you run as Administrator to elevate the security rights when running the .bat / .cmd

    (XP users can ignore..)

    Safe :)

  • will this run on 32-bit on my vmware when i go to the options and the 10.6 server 64 bit and it says that it can not run 64 bit on this system or something like that.

What can i do to fix it?

  • Has anyone been brave enough to patch their ESXi 5 host to run this?

  • My Mouse is really choppy in movement. Not smooth at all. Any idea?

  • @NerdsWBNerds Hmm. go to souldevteam [dot] net/blog/downloads and get the update fixer and run it :)

  • @ZackehhSoul Can you look at my other comment please, this comment was actually about 10.6.7, I can't get 10.7.2 to run, I have AMD, 64 bit, and am on Windows 8, Leopard runs fine.

  • @ZackehhSoul the image that pops up in the beginning of your video is not what comes up in the torrent download i got. i only have this video link, and the actual installer only comes up in vm player but reads a syntax error. I cant get past the first step! please help!

You mentioned it is going to be hard, I understand that but therefore would be happy to try. If it is not hard for you, reply to this comment or send me a PM and help me to do that. Thanks in advance. Shahe.
