I'm a guy & I put my hair in a bun with a piece of black bamboo from my garden. It'd be cool to see you do stuff with hair sticks & those heru combs. I've also made a stick from the end of a heavy bamboo chopstick sanded smooth & rounded. It held the best, and looked like bone a little, but the black bamboo is less noticable. I wear it up almost every day. It takes like a minute & stays up all day. I love how easy it is, and how gentle.

@aescimsoc I never trim, I would if my ends were damaged but they're ok. I wash about every 5 days, I use organic products without silicons and I use oil. I brush almost every morning

To all who make 'cut off your hair and donate it!' remarks - Locks of Love does not use most of the hair they receive. There are very specific guidelines about what can be used to make a wig. Most of the hair they receive is unsuitable and *thrown away*. Even much of what is suitable, they sell it for profit. What few *are* made - those wigs aren't donated to children with cancer or alopecia. The wigs are sold to those families on a 'sliding scale'. Better idea: donate money to cancer research.

Much of the hair donated to organization gets lost or burned, sadly. And they don't accept dreadlocks either, which is weird given that lots of conditioner and gentle combing (which takes LOTS of times - days - to get through) eventually detangles them.

I've had dreadlocks myself once (neglect ones, naturally formed and of various sizes - some of them HUGE) and thought of donating the hair when they told me that it "wasn't possible". They said no even when I combed it out

Hair cells are dead cells, and they wouldn't have any other role to the new bearers than a mere cosmetic treat - they don't save lives. It's better to donate a kidney, and so on... And there's always synthetic wigs which can be made to look almost natural these days, if cosmetic treats are being sought...

Actually I have quit cutting my own hair since it has become stronger, to see how far and thick it grows.
