They claimed after watching the debate over Australia's ISP filter that it would be too costly and ineffective to implement. Then they chucked one in on the sly, no one noticed until they had actually attempted to put it thorough legislation and now they have. Sure it is an optional filter (for ISP's that is) but it is ineffective and wasting our money and they did it on the sly.

Your emotive examples also fail to address the other content which is blocked: banned films, books, politically motivated issues (abortion/euthanasia) and other information the state doesn't trust it's citizens with. There's a large number of boxes below the line where voters can fill out their most preferred candidates....to Conroy (if in Victoria). Voting for Labor, especially the Senate, is to help get the legislation through. Voting Liberal is safer than Labor regarding this legislation, but there's some nutjobs in that party as well.

So, the Senate is where this legislation will live or die, and there's other alternatives than the majors, and remember to vote below the line.
