I'm glad I left China 2 (aka Australia), this guy and other like him have no clue what his on about and just make the countries government look stupid and ignorant. I feel sorry for those who still live there and are told what to think
@gongo3090 I was glad I left Aus as well and moved back to my home country NZ. Then our government pulled a fast one. They claimed after watching the debate over Australia's ISP filter that it would be too costly and ineffective to implement. Then they chucked one in on the sly, no one noticed until they had actually attempted to put it thorough legislation and now they have. Sure it is an optional filter (for ISP's that is) but it is ineffective and wasting our money and they did it on the sly.
Christians are in charge of this country... Is there a difference between them and the Muslims that control Iran? I think not. Religion = fail. (I wonder how long this comment will stay here before it's removed by the Australian Govt. Bastards. )
voting liberal is the safest option if you don't want
filtering. I even have a letter sent out by my local MP (a Liberal), who claims it's not coalition policy to implement any sort of internet filtering.
So while Abbot may have some unfortunate religious ideals, it will be the political party that run the show, not the PM. For evidence of this see the recent political assassination of Kevin Rudd by the ALP.

@jacksawild You decide, do you? So when you're at the video store do you waltz by the child porn section without paying it any regard because they don't interest you? Do you refuse peruse the fine selection of rape and snuff videos?
If the Government is going to stop me from looking at child porn, rape and snuff videos on the internet then what is next? Are they going to ban them in libraries and video stores as well?
@unclech0pper In a library or video store I cannot simply access illegal content via a proxy server, file sharing program or via peer to peer networking. Your emotive examples also fail to address the other content which is blocked: banned films, books, politically motivated issues (abortion/euthanasia) and other information the state doesn't trust it's citizens with. I guess because you said "child porn" then you think you win. You don't.
Remember to vote BELOW the line in the Senate and place Labor right near the bottom so that they can't benefit from your preferences or any preference deals. Same goes for Family First, etc.
Sure does have preferences (and it's a proportional representational system as well). There's a large number of boxes below the line where voters can fill out their most preferred candidates....to Conroy (if in Victoria). That way, your vote goes exactly where you say it will, not where parties decide your vote goes.
Ban the bible first. That has all those horrific things in it. If you want a filter, just go ahead and do it. The internet will not change on the will of one man, now will we go back to main stream media. Just do, I love the drama.
Wave goodbye to your freedom of speech, these fools have shown they don't have a clue. Of course, that's if this filter actually works, a big IF, the man won't listen to the majority of the people who don't want this filter but he just seems to not care what we have to say. I've watched a video where a journalist was asking a lot of questions about the filter and Conroy started acting like a petulant child who wasn't getting his way, idiot!!!
What about the Church of Satan? Guess what, Conroy. Although may not like to admit it, this religion has helped thousands of normal, everyday people find themselves, find inner peace, and find faith. Satanists are not "devil-worshippers". They don't sacrifice people to Satan. They aren't evil. Yet you find it okay to ban sites which are to do with them? No, I'm not a Satanist. I am just another ordinary person who is against this.
Think about the people who have found closure knowing their loved ones died peacefully and painlessly rather than writhing in a pool of their own blood, piss and feces. Is it wrong for them to go on a pro-Euthanasia site and tell the world about how they can happily sleep at night without worrying about what agony their loved one was feeling in their last moments? Apparently, yes.
@TotalWorldWar2 Yeah there's a number of parties who are against it. The Liberal vote is on the fence, and there's safer voting options than hoping that they vote for the right side (considering who their leader is). Hopefully people make full use of those options in the election.
@BenVideoCompilations Hey mate just wondering who the safer aptions are when it comes to Voting against Internet filtering. I would Say liberal as they are generally the better party , economic magangers etc. But with Tony Abot in charge i can see somthing with crazy happening with SUPER CHRISTIAN MORALS filtering the internet or somthing stupied
@TheMrKillmekillyou Personally, I think the safest choice is neither. I'm voting for a party which is more liberal (small letter l) than both major parties. Voting for Labor, especially the Senate, is to help get the legislation through. Voting Liberal is safer than Labor regarding this legislation, but there's some nutjobs in that party as well.
So, the Senate is where this legislation will live or die, and there's other alternatives than the majors, and remember to vote below the line.
This makes me so angry. There should be full transparency, and not secretly banning sites, and we then condemn China. What huge big hypocrites we are.
"The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people.
As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation"
@mozaks80 Lies like yours should be filtered. Hitler had a worsening mental problem that resulted in travesty. They followed him because they were coming out of a deep depression. "The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people." Adolf Hitler "As long as government is perceived as working for the benefit of children, the people happily will endure almost any curtailment of liberty." Rabbi Daniel Lapin
A paradigm shift in motion. Government is supposed to be of the people - for the people. Government is now a means of manipulating the people to satisfy religious or business minorities agendas. Voting is simply a means of shuffling the same interests to ensure we think we have a choice, whilst guaranteeing we don't. Case in point - internet filtering. Vote Labour out and watch Liberals carry on where they left off. Choice? Really???
Hey Ben, I'm assuming you're --Ben-- on WP, keep fighting the good fight brother, yourself and others there are doing a great job getting ppl informed about this nonsense.
@backpackcamera Yep that's me, and cheers! With any luck, we just might beat this thing! Now we just wait for the legislation to see the finer details of exactly what is being proposed.
so Mr.Conroy, in to which of those categories does euthanasia, satanic sites, Christian sites, the website of a tour operator and a Queensland dentist fit into?
@CakeMace And why did he then approach youtube to try to get them to block access to certain video on this site to aussies. That argument is BS lol. I agree.
Sadly the majority of ppl hear childporn and their happy its blocked, only that its not. The money should go to the federal police (or whichever body deals with sites or servers like that) Instead of a useless firewall that just slows down innocent ppl's internets, and treats australian parents like idiots, and aussie adults like children.
The biggest Conroy lie is that child porn is classed as Refused Classification material.
Child Porn is Illegal and criminal material.
No paedophile or child pornographer has ever submitted their material to the Australian classification Board for classification.
The lies and half-truths being told by Conroy to try to blur the lines between legal (all RC material) and Illegal material (child porn) in order to sell the Internet Filter are appalling.
There is a lot of incest and bestiality in the bible and in art. Those things should be accessible. If an adult woman wants to give a stallion horse a blowjob, I can't see the harm in it.
This video is a bit out of date, given how the government has changed the scope of censorship even more. I'll create another one when the legislation is introduced and we see exactly what it will involve, which I believe is next month.
The underlying message hasn't changed though - the government is a bunch of liars willing to stoop to any level to implement Internet censorship.
I cant even describe the kind of things i feel like doing to this man & his family.. it will just disturb alot of you if i do. I just hope this man gets whats coming to him.
@sumgui Sumgui You and the government are idiots. Causing normal people to have a desire to hurt people and the pollies responsible is the most serious level of interest you should ever have to make. You are an idiot. If someone is violent because of your ignorance or denialism, then they are very serious about this. You can't get more serious, in fact.
@Salsien Ok, if you were given the chance to speak your mind infront of a panel, how would you go about persuading them against the filter? Normally people would give good reasons to oppose it... mainly that it wont work! And say that after your speech you have completely persuaded them onto your side. Would you end the argument with "AND IF I DONT GET WHAT I WANT ILL FUCKING KILL STEPHAN CONROY AND HIS FAMILY!" or just leave it as is. If you were to make the threat... would it benifit anyone!?
@sumgui I would take an outraged person more seriously, because no one would make threats lightly in a public manner. The correct reaction to this should be, "Maybe, just maybe, the policy is extremely offensive and degrading to the Australian people. maybe I'm wrong and screwed up and have threatened many people's lives."
Otoh, if someone gives a passionless, monotone, list of responses, it's convenient, but you can't take them seriously, after all they aren't shouting and screaming.
There's a difference between passion and lunacy! The difference being, someone passionate is confronting but ethical - whereas a lunatic is nothing but confronting... to the point where they will hurt. What your saying is that If you were to threaten someone then you'll be taken more seriously... like terrorists. and look how serious the government takes them... soo serious that they're seen as nothing more than a threat to the world and should be killed or detained.
Unfortunately some of the links have expired. The "cyber-safety" document has been removed by the government. Luckily, it's still stored on the Internet archive. The Internet never forgets.
The simple truth is, you're not really going to find child pornography or bestiality unless you're genuinely looking for it. Even if you find a link, you still have to click the link to see the stuff.
If the majority of the public realised how ridiculous and appalling their actions and intentions are, they would definitely not make the following election.
It's disgusting how they have created such a flawed argument regarding this filter, and how they've managed to make so many believe.
Conroy and his wife, Paula Benson, have a daughter born in November 2006 with the assistance of an egg donor and a surrogate mother, both friends of the Conroys. The procedures were performed in New South Wales instead of their home state Victoria, where altruistic surrogacy is banned (Check it out yourself) BANNED
Your text scrolls down too fast. There is no way 'adults involved in actual sexual activity' should be lumped in with criminal acts, you should have paused and zoomed in on it! I don't get why so few make a big issue with the fact.
Anyway, this is not censorship, this is Prohibition. Censorship can't work once the public gets a taste for it. Conroy is a bit of a religiously controlled Elliot Ness with his mindset stuck in the 1930s.
I agree 100% but im not as confident we wont see a mandatory internet filter and we will see the end of the labour party at the end of the next election to me it appears we are stuck with them until they fuck something up big enough to wake up there voter base to there real nature maybe a poorly conceived and executed internet filter will be enough.. but I doubt that as well
@jnrolf No he won't. He'll be there after the next election, because the Australian public is retarded, and requires this censorship to maintain its ignorant society.
@Madzombie51 Australians don't deserve it. The deserve exactly what they've gotten, a communist leadership and a nanny state that will protect them from themselves. After all they are genuinely retarded.
Has nothing to do with 'communism', it has to do with the moral minority (fundamental Christianity) controlling what adults are allowed to see and how children are brought up. Family First and Christian Orgs will the first ones to back it. It is looking like the Liberal party under Abbott will do so as well. Vote Liberal at the next election if you want to entrench yourself in a policy they will allow to pass this Autumn. Both sides (in indeed there are two) are to blame if this becomes law.
Why has this fool dedicated his life to such a useless cause, that will not improve anyones lives, people will hate him and he will just annoy the shit out of almost everybody. Srsly lets put him in a cage and send him to a zoo.
Let's hope they do oppose it in the senate, should Conroy declare the trial a 'success' and pursue the policy further. There have been a few liberal senators vocally opposing it, so some sense appears to be in the party, and we can only hope that the rest do as well.
The government is no better than the mafia or other criminal factions they extort us, confuse us, jeopardize our freedom and rights enforce their will on us and arrest us for not complying. Pathetic Excuse For A Civilization.

I will go a lot lower than voting for Abbot to get these Big Brother arseholes out of office.

FUCK YOU CONROY
you and your hidden censorship pushes also.
FUCK YOU RUDD TOO

LOL, and this is their communications minister. Australians are stupid.
TheTopBloke 2 years ago 3
@TheTopBloke This particular Australian, Stephen Conroy, yes is stupid. Why the hell any of us voted this pathetic government in is beyond me!
Not to worry. I highly doubt this filter will go ahead, this government will be gone soon.

Conroy... Bring it in and YOU WILL GO in the next election! What a dick!
jnrolf 2 years ago 4
@jnrolf No he won't. He'll be there after the next election, because the Australian public is retarded, and requires this censorship to maintain its ignorant society.

Any society that would give up liberty to gain security will deserve neither and lose both.

@Madzombie51 Australians don't deserve it. The deserve exactly what they've gotten, a communist leadership and a nanny state that will protect them from themselves. After all they are genuinely retarded.
TheTopBloke 2 years ago
Has nothing to do with 'communism', it has to do with the moral minority (fundamental Christianity) controlling what adults are allowed to see and how children are brought up. Family First and Christian Orgs will the first ones to back it. It is looking like the Liberal party under Abbott will do so as well. Vote Liberal at the next election if you want to entrench yourself in a policy they will allow to pass this Autumn. Both sides (in indeed there are two) are to blame if this becomes law.

good information. Orwell society may not be too far off, if the scientologists and the australian govt get their way.
AlphaOrionis1 2 years ago 13
I dont support this.
But they have to get it past the senate.
And lets not forget that the liberals started this whole thing off.
They were the ones that first looked into the filter for the internet so it would not supprise me that they vote it in and then blame labor for it.
noyoudontyou 2 years ago 3
Let's hope they do oppose it in the senate, should Conroy declare the trial a 'success' and pursue the policy further. There have been a few liberal senators vocally opposing it, so some sense appears to be in the party, and we can only hope that the rest do as well.
BenVideoCompilations 2 years ago
I agree there are a few liberals that have spoken out.
But at the moment they oppose everything labor does.
Will they oppose this or will they let it through so in the future they can use it against the population.
Since 911 i dont trust america , and i dont trust our politicians .
They used 911 as an excuse to spy phone tap hold people without charge for extended periods and torture.
Howard said torture was ok to extract info
out of someone.
I thought we were the good guys.

The government is no better than the mafia or other criminal factions they extort us, confuse us, jeopardize our freedom and rights enforce their will on us and arrest us for not complying. Pathetic Excuse For A Civilization.
