I remember watching this episode when it aired. I must have been 7 or 8 at the time. I was totally flabbergasted at how they could leave a season hanging like that! Of course, I was just happy that Trek didn't suck anymore! I supposed waiting all summer for a resolution was as small price to pay for not having to endure crap like Season 1 all over again.
Interesting side note: When Part II of this episode was produced, the cast's scripts included a notice which advised them to not keep the scripts, so as to not spoil the episode's outcome. Cast members were required to turn in their scripts upon completion of the filming of Part II, at which point, two producers would collect them for shredding.
It's greatness shines through in modern culture with Seth using this very cliff hanger music at the end of Stewie kills Lois! That epiode sent chills down my spine when I first watched it! (BoBW that is!)
Best cliffhanger/ 2 parter in Star Trek history!!!! To this day no matter how many times I see it this cliffhanger still chills me it's so good! No other episodes can ever compare!
