Thank goodness for this marvelous invention. Now you don't have to keep track of where or what your tools are. RFID will provide unimaginable possiblities for stupidity and forgetfullness to flourish.
Unless the barcode is made specifically for that single piece of equiptment then no. RFID tags all have a unique ID, so reading an RFID tag can tell you if the tool you're using is the same one you used yesterday. A barcode will only tell you if it's the same type of tool (again unless the barcode is made specifically for that single tool).

Thanks for the post! The difference btw a bar code system and an RFID tag system is still not clear to me, don't they both identify a unique asset?
