Rob Reiner played a great role on All in The Family. When he left the show, the arguing with Archie stopped the magic also left. The arguing brought out the issues and made the laughter.

@dandaman62 Back when ALL IN FAMILY was on TV the ratings for SOUTH PARK would have equalled programs toward the bottom and be cancelled for low ratings (setting aside other reasons like content). As the #1 show on at the time ALL IN THE FAMILY's ratings would have been several times greater and therefore much more influential on the public and future television. Add to that they made as many episodes in a year than SOUTH PARK made in several seasons. No show today has that type of influence.
