anybody know how to get a job with Bioware it is literally down the road from my house and all of the horror stories seem minor compared to past jobs I have had, really
i love you guys. you brought so much joy and happiness to me. kotor, mass effect, dragon age = those games are amazing. in fact they are not just games to me. I love Bioware and Bethesda softworks make unbelievable games. I hope someday i would get a chance to see Bioware headquarters!!!!!!
YOU ARE FUCKING GREAT PEOPLE WITH RICH IDEAS AND UNBELIEVABLE IMAGINATION
fuck bioware how dare they not make kotor 3 >:[ the story line was so epic and the whole revan going to the outer rim or w.e to find some force that was out there GAH THEY RUINED IT FUCK
@jdrummer666 I hope you someday see the shameful error of your comment. The second Kotor game wasn't even made by Bioware, but by Obsidian. Obsidian is like Bioware's evil, incompetent, inept twin. They make terrible games. That's part of why Kotor II didn't sell.
So considering that Obsidian took a giant crap on Kotor, I don't blame Bioware for letting it lie. They should concentrate on ME3 and DA2. And ok, maybe TOR too. ^_^
@PhantomAlucard shut the fuck up. Did you play Kotor II? They did so many things to that game to make it better in every way than the first game it's astounding. I've played through both Mass Effect games twice and, though they are innovative and expansive, they don't change the medium significantly enough for me or invest enough in the development of the characters to make me care. Honestly, the binary choices you get to make in those games are so ineffectual and lacking in emotional grit.
@PhantomAlucard In Kotor I & II, along with Jade Empire, you could actually change the world around you and how people acted. Mass Effect II failed terribly in this respect and did away with all of the genius and endlessly entertaining aspects of item and power management in the games I listed above. Not to mention the final boss in Mass Effect II was a joke, bring back the reapers not some weak reaper/human hybrid story that gets kicked to the curb right away.
@PhantomAlucard The first game of the Mass Effect series created a thriving and breathing world because the aliens IMPACTED the game and it wasn't just about humanity, the second time around, all personality was drained out of the game. Far be it for me to say that Mass Effect II was a failure, because I definitely did enjoy it, but it lacks the gravitas of Obsidian and Bioware's other IPs. I don't like you.
@mratomix Your argument might garner more respect if you refrained from base insults. And yes, I have played Kotor II. It disgusted me. There were entire conversations that went nowhere, threads severed at the end. Remember the endgame? It was so sudden and quickly resolved that it might as well not have been at all. There was no appeal at all, and Kreia's little speech did nothing to improve it. Also, the main protagonist and another Jedi sharing a strong bond? Sound a little too familiar?
BioWare's games are for intellectual midgets. The whole story is already written, you merely choose between three options in each scene. Their UI's are WoW knockoffs. Their games are escape vehicles for intellectually challenged loser males.
they've stated over and over again that this game will be as gray as ever, you may think your choice is good from a Human standpoint but you may just have killed a hell of a lot of innocent Dwarves with that act.
could be really cool if the whole gameworld is seen differently depending on your character and race choices.
I agree, the days of Black and White stories are ending. If we can bring more Grey and uncertainty into games now, we may become more than a simple entertainment field, we may become an artform.
@TomothyMayhem games are already an artform and there is nothing within the medium that prevents them from being so. The emotional ties players draw with their characters, the weight of the stories, and the ability to change your environment how you see fit all hint at a greater dive into exploring the human psyche. The only difference is that when was the last time you looked at a Picasso painting, specifically Guernica, and thought "Gee, this is fun!" Doesn't happen.
@mratomix Very true, but I think you're more elaborating on what I had already begun to explain. When film was in its youth people were amazed that they were seeing moving images, but then they got bored and wanted more, that's when the Citizen Kane's started rolling in and the great tales and stories came rolling.
The same can be said for plays, plays were cast with character achetypes and classic stories, until one man named William changed the face of literature -SEE PART 2-
His stories and his characters, which broke the mould back then, would almost ironically, become the mould that many later stories would be cast. This can also be said, yet again, for comic books, writers such as Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman transformed the medium and talked about themes and situations that even film directors and authors dared not to touch (that's not to say that there wasn't).But with Games, we are still at the stage where 1 in 100 games do this (Deus Ex and BioShock)
@mratomix It was straight out of Kotor I with Revan and Bastila. And as for ME2 not letting you change worlds, I must ask, what are you smoking? And will you share? Because it's obviously working. The world of ME2 is extremely changeable. The counsel could be live or dead, you can decide the fate of the Krogan, Geth AND Quarians. You can choose to preserve or destroy the Collector base, and ALL of these things change the game world and the world of ME3.
@mratomix And besides, define 'personality,' because ME2 was far from drained of it. Almost every single character you encounter has depth to their character, multiple angles from which to see why they do what they do. And even though Shepard only says what words you put in his/her mouth, he/she still has his/her own personality, his/her own way of expressing him/herself. The final mission was the most immersive gaming experience most gamers have ever had.How can you say this game lack gravitas?
Is there a video of Bioware employees discussing the aspects of Mass Effect?

@jdrummer666 agreed. the star wars universe is infinitely expandable and way more intriguing than mass effect has ever been.

They shouldn't always make games where there's black and white, good and evil, it should be more grey...
