this has long been my favorite recording of anything Floyd ever did. I had it on a cassette that I lost a while back. If anyone has any idea how I could get the whole track on mp3 I'd be truly grateful.

WoW I thank you again i only wish i could get it on CD i Love this song so much i love the live in Gdndansk version too but this is the latest one i never heard before can i get it somewhere anyone on CD?? :D
I was at this concert in 1971. It was recorded in the BBC "Paris" Studio in Lower Regent Street London, It was part of a series of concerts that the BBC would broadcast on Sunday afternoons hosted by the late John Peel. Also on the set were performances of Embyo, Echoes, and One of These Days. It was recorded roughly a week before the band went off to Italy to record their Live in Ponpeii film. This whole broadcast later became available as a bootleg album titled Meddler.
Thankyou. I used to go to these concerts every week. I saw most of the top bands that were around in that era this way. They included Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart and the Faces, Fairport convention and dozens more. What made it even better was that the tickets were free, all I did was keep applying to the BBC every week and the tickets would arrive in the post. You would get 4 tickets with each application. Some of the concerts are now available on CD under the title of Live at the BBC
best band ever, best song ever, and (to me anyway) the best album i know there is dark side of the moon and wish you were here but atom heart mother is pure feeling my heart lifts every time i listen to it
thanks for the great post; an outstanding new (to me) version of a great song, a song i've listened to hundreds of times (mostly the Montreaux and San Diego versions)
This Fat Old Sun is perhaps the sweetest version ever. Gilmour's voice carries perfectly. The start of the reprise (5:45 - 6:15) is like waking up from a grand dream. Smell the the new mown grass! Awesome.
I have to agree - I have a pretty decent library of PF bootlegs and this show is one of my favourites. I think it stayed in my CD player for about a year :D
Listen to the old Floyd is like taking a warm bath after a cold rain...

Amazing version, it'sa shame none of the Atom Heart Mother songs were played in 'Live at Pompeii'... Fat Old Sun could have made it less ''dark''.

this song being perfomed alive is like the official transition from psychedelic art rock to psychedelic jazz-art-rock xD

To answer your question, I traded a bootleg of the Floyd KQED video for this version of "Fat Old Sun".
I think this is my favorite song. Ever.
