As much as I love Jim and The Doors just have to say such a tragic waste of life because of hardcore drugs and lots of them.....such a difference from older music of theirs just seeing Jim and how he looked on this video...this is the result of days of no sleep and doing lots of drugs...disagree with me of you will but to me this is their best song...just wish Jim was still alive and singing today...music would be of a much higher class today if he was still here blessing us with his music

actually this song was written by Robby so they are his words not Jim's, Jim is just singing them. He's not really telling you to follow him down.. At first he refused to sing the line "get you're guns". That is why they started to credit the songs on this album individually for the very first time.

This is actually the song that made Jim want to have individual writing credits on "The Soft Parade" because Jim didnt like the lyrics "Can't you see me growing, get your guns." Jim Morrison didn't like it, so he didn't want to sing it at first. He made Robby Krieger put on the credits that he wrote it and not Morrison, or so the story goes.
