Great song. Great band. I really like listening to their early stuff, and then stuff like this. You can really hear how they changed and developed their sound.
yes I know its a matter of opinion. GOOD ol DAYS vs. NOWADAYS. but theres just somethin about the music/movies in the 80's even and I was too young to remember the 80's. frente for vocal, vocal for this suk ball but music rock o_O . Anyone know if they got instrumental for this cuz some part it is just good for mixing ^^ .
Good beginning, true, but not even halfway through the movie it turned into mass message for everyone. STOP GLOBAL WARMING. Plus Keanu Reeves just can't act for shit.
It's nice to see people who know when music was good and sung by people with something called TALENT. All these wannabe popstars today are just crap. There's a reason I only listen to the '80s and past. Early '90s was ok too.
I have to agree. Recently saw "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with Keanu Reeves. Terrible. Most movies these days simply fail to impress. Heck, a low-grade 1980s B movie is more exciting than this modern shit.
SO TRUE, jakemiller5000, about MOST music and movies these days. it really has revolved around making money, or tries to be political. they still think special effects will make it deliver. -just doesn't cut it anymor. No wondr ppl dont LINE UP for the movies like theydid in the 80's w E.T. or Return of the Jedi. I'm 18 too, it sucks music sucks so much these days, it's like there is almost no creative juice left. :/ I feel so happy there are others like me! ^_^
Sadly everyone is playing it safe. There are no more true rebels anymore. Seems the world is full of creative cowards; money is god and celebrity is all. Years ago music meant more than either of two things...
maybe it will come back. lots of people had no job and no prospects in the 1980s. So they formed bands and experimented. That's not been the case for a long time now (since the early 1990s - the last time that genuine new music came to the fore IMHO). Maybe with the recession that will change.
I agree with you in some respect, yet with a little searching you can find the same sound in certain genres of music of today. Check out bands like Late of the Pier, Blood Red Shoes, Cut Copy, Justice and Klaxons.
It's still going on, just not as large scale and prominent as the 1980's.
people who like joy division are def snobs about it, but i've never heard a JD song that really struck me...if ur a fan, recommend something to me, bc so far, new order strikes me as the better of the 2...
Joy Division was great, but it's an acquired taste. I became a fan of New Order first and when I learnt they were Joy Division, I gave them a try, but it was a shock hearing this weird deep voice of Ian Curtis. It didn't caught me at first, but after many tries, I discovered how unique they sounded. New Order and Joy Division are now my two favourite bands ever; no other artist comes close to them IMO.
This song is fantastic. I was a mobile DJ, from 86 to 89 and this song was one of the most requested song for the floor. I would speed up the turn table a little to keep the tempo going.
I was one of the masses who requested this song at the clubs. It seems the really telented dj's could grab this song and mix it and manipulate it until it was so amazingly perfect for dancing. I can imagine you had a blast mixing this one. Blue Monday was also a powerful dance tune with a great tempo and strong electronic beat. :)
