the thing i like the most about this short animation movie is the background. i find the forest of tall old buildings that form a dark labyrint very creepy. it would be the perfect location for horror movies.

Wow. Amazing movie. Too bad it's not longer. If they had taken the time to develop the characters and draw out all the suspense and everything it would have been the best movie ever. I wish I could find a subtitled version on YouTube, though, just to hear the creepy counting, haha.

The 5th demon or the child who is currently "it" tells the story to children to lure them into playing. The last scene showed the boy as a demon just like his sister was because she won last time.
Actually.. the winner is taken too. You can see his body when the "it" takes the appearance of the winner and starts the new game. As for the "it" Its the 8th player, but really just the 5th demon. It says 7 kids are needed. And theyre there... but so is the demon.
OooH. So there has to be 7 players but 8 players are really needed. And the "IT" is the 5th demon. And the town is dark. So to have brightness. They kind use rituals. So the 6 players caught are used as energy sources. And the winner will be the one to continue the game. Thus, allowing the ritual/game to be played over and over again and supplying the towns energy/light.
I have my own theory how this game works. Maybe when a new game comes along and doesn't have enough players, they realise randomnly some of the battery kids. It would explain the twins glowing the same color as the guy at the end. Dunno if that made sense. And dude I would SO want to play this.
I think when a new game comes along they leave the fifth demon with all the players that havent been tageted by a demon and when they're down to their last player he/she will become a demon but your theory is closer than mine
the kids organs are used to light up the town until they die of starvation, thats why it doesnt last long, and inside their heads their playing hide and seak over and over again but this time their the demons in the game of Otokoyo

you have to remember the movie is a short movie lasting less than 30 mins. not really much time for character expansion or development.
its about one directors unease at the industrialization of tokyo at the expense of childrens innocence.

actually i may be wrong because my friend said it was the fat kid. when they show all of the kids strapped to the machines you notice the fat kid not there. plus you can tell by lookin at their fox mask. their mouths are totally different. it made sense to me but idk they're all dead in the end anyways

I first saw this movie on adult swim (I think) when I was 9. I finally found this yesterday. I have one question for anyone, why where the twins' (players, not demons) eyes red and black like that? Thanks for letting me see this. I LOVED IT!!!

Wow. Amazing movie. Too bad it's not longer. If they had taken the time to develop the characters and draw out all the suspense and everything it would have been the best movie ever. I wish I could find a subtitled version on YouTube, though, just to hear the creepy counting, haha.
The only thing I'm wondering is... if everyone gets taken at the end, how do people still know about the game? "If there are no survivors, where do the stories come from?"

The 5th demon or the child who is currently "it" tells the story to children to lure them into playing. The last scene showed the boy as a demon just like his sister was because she won last time.

Actually.. the winner is taken too. You can see his body when the "it" takes the appearance of the winner and starts the new game. As for the "it" Its the 8th player, but really just the 5th demon. It says 7 kids are needed. And theyre there... but so is the demon.

OooH. So there has to be 7 players but 8 players are really needed. And the "IT" is the 5th demon. And the town is dark. So to have brightness. They kind use rituals. So the 6 players caught are used as energy sources. And the winner will be the one to continue the game. Thus, allowing the ritual/game to be played over and over again and supplying the towns energy/light.

I have my own theory how this game works. Maybe when a new game comes along and doesn't have enough players, they realise randomnly some of the battery kids. It would explain the twins glowing the same color as the guy at the end. Dunno if that made sense. And dude I would SO want to play this.

I think when a new game comes along they leave the fifth demon with all the players that havent been tageted by a demon and when they're down to their last player he/she will become a demon but your theory is closer than mine

the kids organs are used to light up the town until they die of starvation, thats why it doesnt last long, and inside their heads their playing hide and seak over and over again but this time their the demons in the game of Otokoyo

@slave2thegame I never understood that last part, I always guessed it was just like he was it and was chasing down new kids, didn't notices that the ones who run to hide were the others who were caught.
