The correct English translation of "Se a vida é" from Portuguese is actually "If Life Is...". "That's the way life is" would be "É assim que a vida é..."

The truth is that Pet Shop Boys wanted to show they could do a Bilingual Album (spanish and portuguese lyrics) but all they did was to put 2 (TWO) very small sentences with no correct translation! No work done! Just throw some portuguese words at random and that's it!

West end girls was made in the 80s (1986 or so), and back then songs the album "Please" had received a good amount of radio play in the states. Bilingual was released in the fall of 1996.

If I had known that the PSB were still making albums, I would have bought the CD back then. Unfortunately, American radio stations stopped playing PSB after their "Acutally" album. I rediscovered the PSB in 2000 when I saw a commercial for "Ultimate Dance hits 2000," which included "New York City Boy".
