  • i watched this video while playing the Skyrim main theme. it worked great :)

  • In this battle, in distant (I'm Czech) Japan, knighthood died ...

  • what this scene is saying is that corage no longer wins wars.

  • this music is no gud for a samurai movie -.-

  • @avrambrankovich In the sense that it gives them a painless quick death? That is a very romantic way of thinking, but not necessarily true, for Saigo Takamori probably bled to death, slowly and painfully, before he was beheaded in his seppuku ceremony. Afterall, a wound to the femoral artery has to be painful as hell. :(

  • que valientes, con esas armas no tenian ninguna posibilidad, pero en el cuerpo a cuerpo estarian todos muertos, arriba los samurais!

  • damn cowards!!!

  • samurai aren't gladiator italian comment*

  • why do people keep fking this scene up the putting fking gladiator music with it wtf it isnt even dramatic

  • How can the Japanese people hope to survive GODZILLA if they are busy fighting each other D:

  • so the last samurai is a....caucasian???wtf

  • @ginikickass2 Not necessarily, though that's what I thought at first. It *COULD* be that 'Samurai' is referring to the culture led by Katsumoto, and that they were the last 'true' samurai before the modernization. While it's also possible that Higen and Magojiro could follow the ways of the Samurai, they would be in the vast minority and their ways would be viewed as outmoded. What do you think?

  • Wrong music mate, you fucked it up. Last samurai has the best soundtrack it could have.

  • even more epic then in the movie! great work!

  • this is one of my favourite movies, both Tom and Ken Watanabe are just brilliant.

And his beliefs are irrelevant. He's free to choose what he believes, just as you are free to not like him, but why attack a man's belief structure? I'm a Muslim, you gonna hate me for that? William Shatner's Jewish you gonna not like him because of that? I like Marilyn Manson despite the fact that he's a minister in the Church of Satan. Why do I like them? I like their work they entertain us. Just had to be said.

  • 4:35 Now that is a face of regret. Good acting.

  • Gatling Gun VS. Samurai Army....

    Gatling gun wins again...

  • they got shot like 40 times

  • this film can't handle the gladiator soundtrack! pathetic

  • From 1.44 to 2.10, the score has something to do with Gustav Holst "The planets" - "Mars".

  • Last Samurai starring Tom cruise whats next the last nigga starring tom hanks

  • 18 people who disliked this are Omura grandgrand childs

  • It was a good death!!!

  • Watching this made me feel like a pussy

  • i think i watched this film 50 times seriously

  • FAIL! :D

  • most epic banzai charge.

  • The music is same as Last of the Mohicans except for a few notes inverted.

  • Cold Chills are running through my Body!

  • I prefer the original, but this is fine with me, one of the all time endings.

  • NO NO NO NO! How can you possibly mix the battle music and main theme from Gladiator with the Last Samurai battle scene. Two totally different time periods and two songs written for two totally different moods. I think you just ruined the entire video........

  • 2:15 HOLY!

  • yes ruin the scene with gladiator,

  • There is a reason why they used the original music and not this. You have basically emotionally gutted this part of the film, due to your poor choice in music.

  • Hans simmer same music in gladiator and in pirates of c

  • the music to this end scene is what makes it spectacular why change it ?

  • Great Scene, shows the honor of the Samurai.

@cwood4ever-- Your mistaken, the Japanese army didnt charge the Americans to "scare" them, but because to charge and most likely die would be far more honorable then surrender(even their wounded and crippled charged). By this time they were attempting to cause the Americans so many losses they wouldn't dare invade Japan. And on most of their charges, they were not stopped until point blank range by a machine gun.

  • I'm definitely in love with Katsumoto.

  • screw guns katanas are beast man

  • @intermagma76

I think that history of warfare didn't exactly support your words.

  • "BTW Japanese cars suck major DICK". Well there it is folks. With one sentence cwood4ever has displayed for all his level of 'education'. Go back to your Playstation boy and stop pestering the grownups.

  • This is why Japan could never win a major war. They think their courage will win the day. In WW2 they used to charge Marines Machine guns thinking they would scare the Americans. Half hour later 300 dead Japanese soldier lay dead in front of a hot Machine gun.

  • @cwood4ever Fearlessness is the proud of Japanese!

  • @soulkeeper2912 Fearlessness doesn't win wars, superior forces do with a combination of good leaders.

  • @cwood4ever Fool. Within 2 decades the Japanese came back economically to the point where every electronic device you own was made better and cheaper than a lazy ass American in their ineffecient Union shops. Ain't that a fact.

  • @stayjit1 Actually that would be China not Japan as to things being MADE. Japan creates a lot of electronics only because they have no natural resources. So basically youre the fool for saying such uneducated things. But try again, never give up I'll only school you more.

  • @cwood4ever Toyota. Honda. Isuzu. Mazda. Nissan. Subaru. Mitsuoka. Dome. Mitsubishi. All Japanese. Name one international Chinese automobile manufacturer. Don't even think of the electronic sector.

  • @stayjit1 HMMM so lets see the vehicles are owned by the Japanese but the the pieces are made all over the world with a few parts made in Japan. If you took apart a car it would be built all over the world but assembled in one place ie Japan or even the USA. Once again you failed want to try again? BTW Japanese cars suck major DICK

  • @stayjit1 for a 49 year old you dont have much education. Even children know this information.

  • @stayjit1 Photon is chinese I think. we own one.

  • @cwood4ever

The tactics were obsolete by the turn of the century. In medieval times or even the gunpowder age, the Japanese army(or a recollection of it) would have been considered a tough adversary. It appears the Military leaders in Japan at the time were so absorbed by the traditional idea that such tactics would help them win the day lead them to their apparent downfall. Though, it would be a suitable tactic for last resorts.

  • @cwood4ever I work at an international auto industry supplier in the U.S and you don't know what the fuck you are talking about; the Japanese car companies are the most stringent and quality-driven companies in the world, that's why Toyota outsells EVERY American car company. Goes what your Corvette is made from? Cheap Mexican parts.

  • Dude... this scene actually made me cry almost when I saw it in the theater.

  • Is it right that the weaks in heart and mind win over the strongs ?

  • When i was 8 or 9 years, i don't remember, i found this the best scene of the movie. i watched it all over again and again. but now iam 14 and i listen what they say. In the scenes before and after this one. Don't get me wrong this is a beautiful scene but when i was younger the only thing what i wanted to see was this, I WANTED TO SEE WHEN I WAS YOUNG, NOW I WANT TO LISTEN.

  • They should have had help from the Rohirrim...

  • whats the music to this, well good !

  • die with honor thats the way of a samurai thats why they din`t wear armour!!!

  • probably the most epic death scene ever. watching this movie makes me wish i was a samurai

  • Shogun 2 Total War is coming :D !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Last samurai reminds me somewhat of the novels by James Clavell. Id suggest them (Shogun, and Gai'jin) to anyone who liked this movie. The books are set in completely different time periods, neither of which is exactly the same as the last samurai, but they still both have alot in common with it.

  • ken watanabe ftw

  • original music is better, note to everyone making videos, please don't change the tracks from epic scenes, it's like taking out the titanic song from titanic and putting something else in, just doesn't work sorry.

  • This music aint right.

  • this scene was epic

  • why didn't you use original music? :(

  • IM JAPANESE YES IM THIS CRAZY!

  • I hate that American army asshole

  • @caeser630

It was actually even less then that, More like 30 on 20,000. The imperial army started bombing Saigo Takamori's camp with howitzers at 3 A.M by 6 A.M there was less than 30 men that could walk. With Saigo mortally wounded by a shot in his pelvic region Beppu (one of his loyal retainers) helped him commit seppuku and lead the remaining men down Shiroyama hill attacking the imperial army head on. Overall i love this movie, but they did "hollywood" it up a bit much...

  • the samurai DON'T win? o.O

man.. tha tmakes me sad... :P

  • In the battlefield die with Honor, or retreat without it.

  • @akshaymus Totally agree. Fuck whoever posted this.

  • the best film on the whole wordl :) with avatar :)))

  • I hated this movie.

  • oh the imperial commander is nevous..

  • this music made me feel like we were rooting for the fucks with the guns...boo

  • 2:37 - were the "new guns" Gatlings?

  • @timmy998877 Yep!

  • yes, this is the epic stupid scene. suicide attack :(

  • GuybrushK tat ain't stupid, they just want to die in honour, they knew they will nvr win the war, but surrender or escape are not acceptable for samurai.

  • @Yvesyew

Not true. Samurais did run away when their side started loosing a battle.

  • @MokomaSusi, if they run away, then they r no longer samurais. they will either be executed by their master or, become ronin

  • I loved the movie, though it would have been cool to see a little bit more of a blend of historical accuracy but this captures the spirit of the actual events.

  • The movie cant end like this? can it? :o

  • Music sounds more like Last of th Mohicans to me.

  • @jeffinphx

    it is

  • Meh. Music ruins the scene.

  • lol, gladiator theme, that's pretty epic

  • @LevKeu

Yeah, it's 'I am not merciful' from the Gladiator soundtrack.

  • EEEEPIC

  • sick video man

  • 2:16 Shafted, yeah baby yeah.

  • its not an epic attack. They knew that the whould die but they fought with honour

  • @eliasyoocoolman and why does that not make it epic?

  • i love the samurai. i always like that men fighting for the last time to protect there country.

  • Country ? You mean their lord... they had no problem with fighting other samurai if both their respective lords were at war.

  • @CasinoMafiaBoy me too Man

  • @CasinoMafiaBoy u should learn then some things about Greeks....

  • @CasinoMafiaBoy indeed, as like making their final stand

  • The last Mohicaner Soundtrack!

  • the gattling gun wiped them all out =P

  • first part are theme from last of the mohicans the second from gladiator and the last part are also from gladiator

  • Ah man. I like how they completely misrepresented the artillery. In real life, a frontal attack by cavalry on a fortified infantry position covered by artillery would've been suicide. The artillery barrage would've down the job just fine, while the following volley would've ended the matter.

  • Like with the Charge of the Light Brigade.

  • That's not the case in real life, because even in late 19th century, artilleries were hopelessly slow to reload and inaccurate; using cavalry to overrun artillery positions was the standard of those days. In the battle of Waterloo, French cavalry DID dominate the allied cannons twice during the early phase, but unfortunately they failed to bring the proper equipments to toll or disable the guns. And the samurai used firearms all the time, they embraced explosive as much as the central government

  • by the late 19th century didnt most modern armies already have breech loading cannon firing HE shells?

And artillery wasnt completely useless. Take the 'charge of the light brigade' for example.

  • The charge of the light brigade received over 200 enemy rounds and escaped with less than 300 casualties. And that happened in an narrow valley with no friendly fire support. After the Crimea War, breech loading cannons took another sixty years till perfection(due to leakage, cost, and ammunition fouling) and another 25 years until they became the norms of all modern artilleries. And then rapid firing field artillery became the new killing queen of WWI.

  • Yeah, this ending reminds me a bit about the charge of the light brigade in crimean war.

But this is more like BANZAIIIIIII!

  • i think you forgot that they were samurai, they didnt care how strong the enemy was or looked, they just wanted to die with honor

  • That's not true. "Samurai" is just a caste with loose set of implicit code such as Shoku Nihongi, not exactly a real model of honor until Japaneses romanticized it during the era of Meiji nationalism fever.

  • Simply because they were romanticized versions of their real-life counter parts doesn't make much of difference. The whole thing should've been a complete disaster.

  • wasnt it?

  • the gatlic gun took out all of them =\

  • 2:12 theme?

  • Gladiator I think.

  • epic make me shudder when i watch it its just so sad

  • Saigo Takamori deserved so much more than to be hunted down like an animal and killed for such a stupid reason. I guess I can thank America for Japans' rapid industrialization and forcing itself to kill it's native inhabitants. Just like the indians. Rest in Peace for the thousands of souls taking part in the Satsuma rebellion

  • Wow that was harsh. I don't believe I seen the American diplomat or whatever say, "Hey, you guys should kill those samurai people, its fun!" Seemed to me that that Japanese advisor was all for it, so don't just blame the Americans for the destruction of the samurai society.

  • Forcing itself to kill it's native inhabitants? It is not like the indians at all actually. What we did to the Indians was horrible, but what happened in Japan was more like the American Civil War. It wasn't foreign powers against native populations it was the Japanese against the Japanese. Japan was all for allowing America to come in and help them industrialize themselves, and now they are one of the world's richest and most powerful countries.

  • Original music in this scene made it far far more epic

  • Good use of the Gladiator soundtrack!

  • Comment removed

  • that was sad but there's a reason its called the last samurai cause its about the last samurai fighting for their pride

  • got love that machine gun. :) but its very sad too. :(

  • great.. it fits well i think

  • best moment for me! 2 10- 2 13

  • Comment removed

  • was weiss ich, ist mir auch egal, der film rockt auf jeden fall

  • worst tactics ive ever seen

  • very good work man

    bravo!!!!!

  • EPIC is the right word here for :'D

  • don't feel bad, this attack never actually happened in real life. The Japanese military advisors were French too.

  • no it hapeened and it was 300 against 40000and when sastumu (real life kasmoto )died the imperial soilder bowed to him

  • Samurai*

  • i feel sad for the horses

  • you just slowed down the pirates of the carribean music

  • i love the blend of music !!

  • I prefer the very first battle scene when he first encountered the Samurai horsemen coming out of the mist. Epic

  • Ya this music is from last of the mohicans

  • you can only feel the "epicness" if you saw the whole movie. without the rest, this is just one more war-scene.

  • that is true...great movie...watched in school

  • Why would you put music from Gladiator to The Last Samurai?

  • im pretty sure this music is from the last of the mohicans and not gladiator

  • racial

  • i meant to raeviliss
