This wasnt Miles' LAST performance, it was in Santa Monica, 1991, on former member Wayne Shorter's b-day. During that concert on the tune "Hannibal", Miles quotes "Happy Birthday" to Wayne. Miles died a few weeks after in Sept. 1991
This is great, Iove it. Birth of the Cool was one of Miles best styles, it was kind of sad, because he had to take rests because he didn't have much energy.
ah man. I MISS Miles. Thanks for posting this, it's very cool. Miles was no god (as ascertained below) but he sure was a gift from God. Thank God for Miles' music and his wonderful life of music.
i cick this guys ass at trumpet! (just fucking with ya) Miles davis to me you are a god. Youguys should check out jamil sharif hes pretty sick too i met him when i was in new orleans.
Thanks! This is one of my favourite songs by Miles.I seem to remember that they said in the beginning of the concert it was his last performance. Miles was already rather ill at the time of the concert (they had Wallace Roney as a back-up soloist in case Miles had to rest). Miles died two months later,so in any case, it was one of his very last performances.
nice, i play this song in my school jazz band, how old is miles here?

Is there a DVD of that great concert ??

poignant: When asked why he never plays the old stuff Miles once answered "because if I look back I'll die." I guess Miles was right.

Just like the wife of Lot. I miss him too, but it's OK, because he achieved immortality.

Birth of the Cool one of best albums of all time. Certainly high in my top 10. Also loved his later stuff with Marcus miller. Genius.
