Foxconn builds computer parts. There is a foxconn motherboard in my roommates HP computer. This is a simple fact of pre-builts, companies that sell pre-built computers will use the cheapest parts possible to make a computer. That is why building your own computer, with quality parts you hand pick, is the best route to go. This is also why Apple is full of shit. They claim to be high quality, yet they'll throw the same PoS foxconn motherboard in a shiny aluminum case and pass it off for quality.
@jof880 Most PCs are custom built by a consumer or buy a computer store. The only companies that I know that mass produce PCs are dell and some others that are never bought. Majority of PCs on the market were made by small PC shops locally.
@DemonAMVs Been to your local Best Buy or Wal-Mart lately? Hewlett Packard (Compaq), Acer (eMachine, Packard Bell, Gateway), Toshiba, Dell, Asus, Sony, hell, even LG manufactures PC's. Most any PC you purchase online, even if it's "custom" had to be put together and manufactured somewhere, and I doubt it was local. So... no. I'd say that the majority aren't made locally at small PC shops.
@Jiima And macs are customised? PCs last longer because you can replace parts and or upgrade. Like my PC I put on a new MUX 120 heatsink with 8 heat pipes allowing me to overclock my I5 processor to 3.2 GHZ. To upgrade a mac you throw it and fork out 10,000 out your ass to buy a new one.
@Jiima This is true, but most PC components are built in Taiwan, Malaysia etc - where there are worker rights. There are manufacturing plants in China too, however a bigger percentage of PCs are built in places that treat their workers with rights, compared to Macs, where the majority is made in places with basically slaves. The point of all this is that Mac often claim the moral highground, when in reality they are much worse than most PC makers, and certainly worse than Microsoft.

Yes... those are the conditions in the foxconn factory... but its not only Apple products made there. Dell, HP, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, Nokia, Cisco and many many more. Hard to not have a product made in one of those factories.

If all Mac parts are made in chinese factories that pay their workers badly, what is the wage in comparison to the workers who make PC parts? @4ebees China's average minimum wage is about $0.28 all across. Legally, that is. The unofficial minimum wage is about $0.20. Of course this varies locally, but not by much.
If it truly $0.06, then it is well below the average national minimum wage, and probably below the legal limit.
What's more is Apple tries to come off as this premium brand and charges extra for reasons I'm yet to find out.
I use Macs at school. They have two operating systems installed. Windows XP and Mac OSX. So far, I haven't been able to pin point the advantage of OSX (except for looks).
The only Mac I can justify buying is a MacBook. The warranty is decent and it's durable. But so are Lenovo and Viao and many other laptops brands.

In the U.K a mac is about 3:1 in price. I bought a laptop PC for £300 when the nearest Mac was £900. After 2 system failures and countless annoyances l bought a Mac. At work we use PC's and l loose so many hours a day trying to do simple things on them so l take in my Mac and have things done in double quick time.
I've been using a laptop for about 2 years now and so far its done pretty much everything i've asked it to do. If you go to the Mac airbook site, it says the price of one is 1499$, US$ i presume. Ok this might be a little expensive compared to a middle grade 1000$ pc but the price isn't alarmingly different. Personally, yeah pc can be annoying, expecially when u dont know it inside out like some of the teenagers these days, but a pc is so much better when you know what u want out of it.

lol andrew your not very bright Macs have the highest crash rate of all computers. Also mac was fined recently for saying they dont get virsuses in there commercial. Also the mac payed the military millions of dollars to try them, and then after the year contract was over they returned all mac equipment and went back to what they where using befor. lol the funniest part about the mac ads is they're always going on about how "cool and fun" it is to edit videos and play music (both of which, by the way, can be easily done on a PC). Playing games is infinitely more fun. I have over 30 games on my PC that a Mac could never play

Im taking into consideration what you stated in parenthases but still, you're comparing a $1000+ computer to a second rate dell. Coincidentally, I was choosing my parts for my next build and for $1400 I'm (possibly) getting a 24'' screen, intel core i7, 6gb ram, 1 tb hard drive, and an ati 4890.
"PC" users are "Forced" to use Vista or other Windows OSes while Mac users get the choice between Mac OS X (pre-installed) or Windows by installing it via boot-camp now so they have a CHOICE where "PC" users "don't"...(anyone heard of Linux?) besides many applications are Windows based so its a plus to have the most popular OS on your comp regardless of how shitty it actually is.... And due to its shittyness they are loling at how people are "forced" to use it with no choice - "PC" users...

Now that's some heavy shit. The Chinese government lets this kind of stuff go on as a way to pull U.S. moneys out of our economy and bolster theirs. And we (the U.S.) can say that we aren't contaminating the ground where these forced-labor factories are located.
We need to figure out a way to bring those jobs back here. I hate seeing "Made in China" on almost everything I own. I'm so glad I don't own a Mac.

If China's government doesn't regulate their own minimum wage, or allows Foxconn, the company that manufactures most apple products, to pay "cents" to their employees (which is not proved), that is not Apple's problem, it's china's and foxconn's. and if that way of doing business is good for them as a country.

This is not a 'choice' like 'vanilla or chocolate'.
I'd suggest you do some basic reading in economics, history and political economic, maybe even sociology.

@4ebees China's average minimum wage is about $0.28 all across. Legally, that is. The unofficial minimum wage is about $0.20. Of course this varies locally, but not by much.
If it truly $0.06, then it is well below the average national minimum wage, and probably below the legal limit.
What's more is Apple tries to come off as this premium brand and charges extra for reasons I'm yet to find out.

I use Macs at school. They have two operating systems installed. Windows XP and Mac OSX. So far, I haven't been able to pin point the advantage of OSX (except for looks).
The only Mac I can justify buying is a MacBook. The warranty is decent and it's durable. But so are Lenovo and Viao and many other laptops brands.

and fyi, the per capita debt of a US citizen is more than $30,000 (and most of it is to China).
so first pay back to your counterparts in china and then you'll realise that they're doing pretty well.

In the U.K a mac is about 3:1 in price. I bought a laptop PC for £300 when the nearest Mac was £900. After 2 system failures and countless annoyances l bought a Mac. At work we use PC's and l loose so many hours a day trying to do simple things on them so l take in my Mac and have things done in double quick time.

I've been using a laptop for about 2 years now and so far its done pretty much everything i've asked it to do. If you go to the Mac airbook site, it says the price of one is 1499$, US$ i presume. Ok this might be a little expensive compared to a middle grade 1000$ pc but the price isn't alarmingly different. Personally, yeah pc can be annoying, expecially when u dont know it inside out like some of the teenagers these days, but a pc is so much better when you know what u want out of it.

lol andrew your not very bright Macs have the highest crash rate of all computers. Also mac was fined recently for saying they dont get virsuses in there commercial. Also the mac payed the military millions of dollars to try them, and then after the year contract was over they returned all mac equipment and went back to what they where using befor. Also mac cant support a ton of games or other programs.

lol the funniest part about the mac ads is they're always going on about how "cool and fun" it is to edit videos and play music (both of which, by the way, can be easily done on a PC). Playing games is infinitely more fun. I have over 30 games on my PC that a Mac could never play

"PC" users are "Forced" to use Vista or other Windows OSes while Mac users get the choice between Mac OS X (pre-installed) or Windows by installing it via boot-camp now so they have a CHOICE where "PC" users "don't"...(anyone heard of Linux?) besides many applications are Windows based so its a plus to have the most popular OS on your comp regardless of how shitty it actually is.... Vista does suck - get XP or 7; anyhow, its not OS X's fault its Steam's fault just as it's all the other applications that dont have mac or linux equivalents or ports.... people use OS X and Linux for their stabliity and lack of Viruses regardless if you can or cant play games on them... and for OS X's case it is an easier to use OS than windows (not so much for linux) so yea... no one needs OS X.... but no one needs Windows if it werent for applications and games in that same respect

Use common sense and NOD32 and you're set. And this means you're set for windows. Windows 7 is what I mainly use on my iMac at home, its phenomenal and so much better than snow leopard.
It took the good things about Vista and added even more of them.
Also, if you can't even back up your ridiculous argument of "windows sucks" don't make it. You are making an assertion and have to provide evidence when you do so.

...an operating system that works.
Sure enough, Windows isn't TERRIBLE. Anyone my age probably REALLY got into it with Windows, just cause that's really all we had access to... and I'm not one to argue over which is better cause it's just... a machine... but at the same time... why not argue? It's fun.
