  • needs more COWBELLS!!

  • I like ARS's version much better

  • This reminds me of a certain lady.......

  • I like to dance naked in the light of the moon to this song. It usually ends up with the neighbors calling the cops though. :(

  • love 2 hear Sade cover this!

  • Yeah, What-ever as my daughter used to say a few years ago. Lol. Great song anyway.

  • I wore out my 45.

  • Where did you get the picture of the lady in front of the Moon? I want to use it for my desktop picture. Can you give me the link?

  • @Seesfar1 Just use your "snipping tool," which comes with Windows 7, snip it and save it to your documents or whatever. Then you can right click it and set it as your desktop pictures.

  • The drums were almost totally hidden in the background on the Stereo Version...they were more upfront on the Mono 45 Version.

  • Cool picture. Great tune.

  • Classic R&B- Great Tune!

  • /watch?v=rf3jGU4PUws The first ORIGINAL version of Spooky. Mike Sharpe was a member of ARS as well.

  • @larsloveskirk Thanks for the link. Very cool.

  • i dont respond alot but could the 5 people who did not like this please respond to me personally .............i am not diggin your scene thanks David

  • #571

  • Didn't this group reform as the Atlanta Rhythm Section?

  • I later worked for his wife making leather goods near the malls in Atlanta. Great folks..

  • Dennis Yost came into my work area to get some shoes for his wife but we had no slippers. His speaking voice was almost the same as his singing voice.

  • '66 was the year for instrumental. Classics IV was the end of '67.

  • I hate to burst everybody's bubble....but the original Spooky was an instramental. and the best Spooky of them all. Mike Sharp made it and it was such a great song that Dennis Yost wrote the words to the tune and had a hit also.I knew Dennis Yost.... we discussed this and he agreed with everything tnat i just wrote in the comments box.....as a matter of fact if you go to Dennis Yost tribute the one with the guy with the brown coat on....that is me playing the saxophone....

  • @faqu100 Right On, man. I appreciate the info. I believe you...that the original Spooky was an instrumental, much like Grazing in the Grass was before Friends of Distinction recorded it. Just to clarify...the reason I put "original studio version" in the title is because most, if not all the other versions posted on YouTube aren't the version of Spooky I used to hear on the radio, this one is. Thanks again for listening and the comment...Peace

  • @faqu100 I love love love love the sax., I love Dennis Yost and the Classic iv RIP Dennis.

  • @faqu100 The "whys & Wherefores" don't matter. What matters is, this is a classic song, I would guess the most loved version. I know Atlanta Rhythm Section did this song and it was good but this one is better.

  • @faqu100 Wait a minute, I played the glockenspiel on this great song! Unfairly,

the studio took me out of the mix, then, although I was wearing a distictive yellow

jacket, I never appeared in any photos. Just kidding, the sax playing on C4 was

    great!!!

  • This is the original studio version but your missing the left or right stereo track. I cannot hear the organ an who knows what else!

  • @Idelia412 Thats interesting. I have excellent stereo sound from this recording and don't notice anything missing...and nobody has ever left a comment about that before?

  • @deejayroyalt1 nothing wrong with the sound,it has good separation and no drop out.the problem is with his eqpt i think.top tune by the way,and love atlanta's version too

  • @Idelia412 I have a 6-speaker surround sound on my computer, sounds perfect to me...maybe should check your speaker settings

  • 66 is the year for this song?in 76 we thought it was new for us?lol

  • LOVE IS KINDA CRAZY WITH A

  • Proposing on Halloween, that's what I'd do.

  • I loved this song :D

  • This and 'Stormy' very much the same and yet both songs are quite good.

  • This song was in FANDANGO. Great soundtrack.

  • what a cool song ...never get tired of hearing it

  • what a great oldie brings back great memories BG

  • One of my all-time favorites. Brings back memories.

  • Hey djroyalt1; It's a pity you could find a video of this girl dancing one of the dances of the day, like the Hitchhiker or the Dog, LOL!

  • Great classic song. One of the original sounds of smooth rock. This song was a nice part of my growing up.

  • The actual original had no lyrics.

  • MISS YOU DENNIS- MICHIGAN LOVES U !!!!

  • Nice sounds great.

  • The first time I heard this song was the week of Christmas vacation when living outside L.A. It hit number 1 on KHJ Radio in L.A in January 1968. I have always liked this song. THANKS FOR POSTING THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!

  • @OldSpiceRatherNice Many, many thumbs up to your comment. I'm not a "girl" anymore, moved past that long ago, but "spooky"...should be used by we ladies at appropriate times even when we're a tad bit "older."

  • This is so groovy man. I miss the 1960s.

  • Nice____

  • I have a 45 of this song where they say "...love is kinda queer with a spooky little girl like you..." I know I bought it as soon as it was released.

  • @flydadj Thanks for the comment. You're the second person to mention "love is kinda queer" being said in the song. I don't doubt that its true either. I guess this may not be the "original" original version, but i think it's definitely more original than the other version posted on YouTube. If you find the one your talking about here on YouTube it would be cool if you sent it my way to check it out! ....Peace

  • @deejayroyalt1 It's definitely "Love is kinda CRAZY with a spooky l'il girl like you". Not a version that uses the word 'queer'.

  • @deejayroyalt1 How did you keep it running this long?

  • @flydadj OMG- They said the word "queer".(lol).Jesus Christ. Grow up!

  • I'm surprised this song hasn't been used in anything Scooby-Doo yet...

  • i LOVE this song ! so great

  • this what it should sound like, all original recording.accept no re-recordings.however,attraction pictures like these may help people to remember great songs.

  • great song.....massive in the states....but overlooked here.....i bought it at the time......liberty 45.....kevin

  • thats a perfect female form right there boys !

  • Oh, my dear friend in sunny Cal.. Awesome!! Happy Halloween!! lol

  • @RamonaFromPomona Thank you....and Happy Halloween to you too!!

  • The absolute best this song gives me chills and the memories are endless. These were the greatest of times I love this song and Dennis Yost was amazing. Where has life gone never forget my friends never forget.

  • Someone had a neat video where they had a skeleton face mask on while dancing to this. This is a cool track for Halloween.

  • this hit rules. perfect for driving in the rain. awesome

  • Holy Sh*t...this IS the original! He says "...love is kind of queer..." brings back lots of memories!!

  • Great song from back in the day!

  • You never know what you listen to most, but it's this one for me. It's had more plays on my iTunes list than any other track, something that took me by surprise. It was played in the cafes, bars and night clubs in the late 60's, in England. It suited the mood in the evening. Fantastic - and yes, thanks for the original.

  • this is the difference between music from pther decades and music nowdays; the lyriics, the sensuality. It's so cute but hot at the same time!!!!

  • LOVE this original recording! Thanks so much for posting!!!

  • Now this is fuckin` SPOOKY as we know it. Accept no imitations!

  • Nice to hear the original version. All the others here are some re-recording.

  • Great song that brings back memories of things you could do in a full sized 1966 Chevy Caprice. How did you get a picture of my old girlfriend?

  • @peteporter NICE....lol.

  • @peteporter

Whatchu talkin bout, Pete? That's my wife.

  • Comment removed

  • @peteporter Or a 59 Impala. Brings back memories of warm summer nights at the drive-in with my then girl friend and the things you could get up to in a car with that much room to play, LOL!!! The girl is my wife of nearly fifty years and the Impala,,, well, It's in the garage, Still fire engine red, 409 4 speed and runs like the day is was new. And yes, it sports fender skirts and twin rear antennas. Life is good.

  • @peteporter my college roomate also had a 66 Caprice with a 4 track player under the dash ! Made many roadtrips to visit friends at U of ILL. champaign. "Chances r " and various other college clubs.

  • @peteporter A buddy of mine had a car like that in high school. He called it "The Mayflower" 'cause a lot of Puritans had come across in it!

  • Great song...sad to read the lead singer of this group passed away this year...great tune ..

  • R.I.P.Dennis

  • Bro Man grew up on this stuff, gotta have a right ingredients for cooooolness!

  • I have always wondered why this song was never featured on "X-Files"

It would have been the perfect song for Scully and Mulder. Perhaps someone out there will create a montage from "X-Files' with the two of them.

  • wat was this that i clicked on?

  • @SpeakMyMind500 What do you mean?

  • @deejayroyalt1 i thought i was actually going to see something spooky.

  • the girl has a nice figure and also nice nips.
