luv, luv, luv glen yarbrough. play his CD's over/over. ;-) poignant. what a voice! saw glen at hungry i on t'giving day, 1968. i keep his music on hand, always. ;-)
@MiserableOldFart Yes glenn did the theme from the movie baby the rain must fall about a folk singer steve mcqueen played the part billy strange taught him to play the guitar enough maybe they should have used a real folksinger guitar player acting the part mcqueen handles a gun better
It's 1967 again! You made me feel young for the length of a song . . . Thank you! I saw Glenn in concert at Humboldt State College in 1967. He is one of a kind. So mellow . . . so beautiful. I hope a whole new generation of listeners will come to love him, too!
i USED TO HAVE SEVERAL OF HIS ALBUMS ON 33 1/3 R.P.M. I WISH I COULD FIND SOME AGAIN. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OF WHERE I CAN BUY SOME OF HIS RECORDINGS.
gony82, didn't Stonewall Studios post gordon Lightfoot's "Shadows" and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?" Do you know what happened to those videos? The W. of E.F video always made me cry.
Stonewall Studios' videos were so well done.
P.S. your video is very much like theirs- well done.
Complicated. When TJ's StonStud first channel of general music vids hit 2 million views (a lot in early YT days), the record companies screamed CopyVio and YT banned him. So TJ got all the permissions that he thought he needed from GL, management etc to post a video of every one of Lightfoot's recorded songs - he was halfway through when the same thing happened again. 88 of TJS' Stonewall videos are still available on Yahoo Video - search for stonewall studios.
Glenn Yarborough was a singer from my school days. And he was one of the very best folk singers around. His music was extraordarily beautiful and I'm so delighted to hear it here on YouTube.
Very nice version. Glen also does a great version of Phil Ochs 'CRUCIFIXION'
For you folks who haven't heard the originals by the original songwriter...please check out Phil Ochs. He has many songs available on YouTube....including the ultimate version of Pleasures of the Harbor.
Beautiful music here...I'm probably one of the many people who discovered him through his hand in the Rankin & Bass Hobbit/RotK cartoonsm and I have to say that I am rather amazed with this guy.
Very nice job. Glenn Recorded it for his LP For Emily, Whenever I May Find her. Phil Ochs released it at just about the same time, on his LP Pleasures of the Harbor. The wonderful guitar picking on this is by Clark Maffitt and Brian Davies, two of my favorite pickers.

I'm 32. I love this kind of singing. Is this a make-out song. I thought it was a nautical song. Well, the topic may be some make-out song, but you don't have those kind this well-sung these days.

Phil was not just political. He could also write human, loving songs and songs of aching longing. And Glenn could sing. Thank you.

Didn't mean to put Glenn down in any way. He is first rate. One of the greats, along with Phil Ochs..

Penhappy, I think it is a Phil Ochs song.

Glenn does a nice job, but nothing compares with the master Ochs.

It's beautiful, as are all of his recordings.
Such a rare voice that's never changed in quality. We had the pleasure of seeing him perform many times and he's as nice as he is talented.

There but for Fortune " is my favorite Phil Ochs' composition. He sings it beautifully and Joan Baez covers it magnificently.
Check her out.
