  • Did that "someone" tool a microfit 3.0 to PCIe 6-pin for ya? If so, what gauge? Shame that it still doesn't work.

  • Nope, they worked for a mac repair centre and had an extra cable from the 8800GT setup. I talked to other Apple service people that gave me the distinct understanding that it'd be very hard for me to get one of those cables without buying a video card from Apple. In hind sight, I probably should have tried that video card with the Apple card still in the system. I may just use a crummy 8500GT (cause I have one) to test that theory. If I can get the OS to boot, then it may work out software side.

  • I'm watching carefully to see how much success you have. I've considered keeping my 1900XT for OSX, and buying a 4870 for XP (bootcamp). Problem is I'd have to have an external power supply for the 4870, AND a 2560 KVM.

  • Doesn't sound worth it to me. Someone else pointed out that ATI has a Radeon 3000 series card coming out for the mac pro that outperforms the 8800GT and costs barely over $200. Seems like the way to go to me.
