I think there may be a few reasons for this. Yes, young people tend to be more favoured compared to someone who is 60s.

But think of the amount of stress that is present in each flight and the amount of energy that is required. Being server is not that easy and I doubt those in their 60s would have enough energy to last a flight that is 10 hours or longer.

Actually the prettiest Chinese flight attendant I've ever seen was on a domestic flight inside the PRC. I think their hiring standards are even more biased toward pretty young women; which is fine with me.

Sorry, but that's just a personal preference. I like cordial pretty ones versus the old and rude ones (many on US domestic flights).

Just because of this law many people get to stay in the US after schooling and become immigrants. These are highly educated people and do contribute a great deal to the society and technology. A good example is workers at the Sillicon Valley, many many are from Taiwan and India.

Sorry to say but their hiring standart is stuck in the 1960's; unlike ours in the west which is "equal employment opportunity".

In 1970's we had to fight this issue at the court of law and won to get rid of this standard and made it equal opportunity to people. Sadly the 60's hiring standard is still a common practice in Asian airlines, in 2008.

Don't give me wrong I think they are cute though.

Don't be upset if the things they way they are. Reality is not ugly. If you are the owner you won't hire someone who don't fit  your standards. It's never fair but if I own any business I won't hire a 60yrs old or a male server too.

In the US your standard will get you sued due to the anti-discrimination law; which means you hire according to this person's ability; you can't deny his/hers opportunity because of gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion, political believes, nationality, pregnancy, physical disability, sexuality. Many countries have this law imposed; I just think that Taiwan is advanced industrialized, many technologies had surpassed many countries, maybe it's time for Taiwan to work toward equal opportunity.

Asian Airlines do this(1) In Singapore Airlines, they FORCE girls to resign after certain years of service w/o career advancement, (2)In EVA Airways, NO MALES FLIGHT ATTENDANTS whatsoever

At lease in China Airlines these flight attendants have union to fight for better working conditions. of course there are rooms for improvement, I'm just flying the airplane. we Taiwan national pilots are also being discriminated against IN OUR OWN LAND!
