My dog didn't pick up on this well, it just caused her to do it slow and she never enjoyed it. I prefer this to the channel method, but my dog is working better with putting the poles into two rows and moving the rows closer together.
I haven't seen a better way that works as well across the board. We were just discussing this after the last agility trial I went to. So many dogs seemed lost with the weave poles and I think because many training methods are just too complicated. Ours don't have to think too much about it.
Just have them do it over and over, using the lure less and less, moving away and finally not following along at all.
@sugarismyhorse how i trained my 26 lb Peruvian hairless dog the weave poles is first i started off with 2 and made him go through over and over then gruadually 4 then 6 intil we reached 12. it actually works really well and my pup flies through the poles!!!
This is in my opinion the best way to train the weaves. I try not to waste time by training the dog to use channels and such...just an unnecessary process when you can do it so much easier.
thanks this will help me so much

I prefere the channel method to be honest!

I dislike this method. I prefer the 2x2 training style with weaves. You can shape it and the dog picks it up quickly.

Susan Garrett's 2x2 method is the best method out there! A great video too to show how the champions do it!

There are many better ways to teach weaves, This is probably the worst way out there. Try Susan Garretts 2x2 video.

how expensive usually are the poles?
and as far as anyone knows, are mutts allowed to compete?
Cheesekake343 1 year ago
@Cheesekake343 try affordableagility . com for practice poles, they're like 45$. Mutts are allowed to compete! my dog is a mutt and he competes.

Tjis is the hardest way v weaves and channel weaves are best as they pick up a natural pattern

I do it this way, and my dogs picked up on it instantly. :)
